AMC’s 1960s mad men may be soon joined by some goodfellas from the same era. The cable network, home of such acclaimed series as Mad Men and Breaking Bad, has put in development a series version of one of the most praised movies of all time, the 1990 Martin Scorsese mob classic Goodfellas. again with the movies turning into series not everything can translate..but we shall see.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope it does the movie justice.
ReplyDeleteI think it could be good if they do it well.
ReplyDeleteschweet!
ReplyDeleteThis could be good, depending on what actors come on board.
ReplyDeleteCan a mob series work on TV in the US? Ok... The Sopranos did it, but that was years ago now.
ReplyDeleteCan a mob series succeed today? Okay... well there is Boardwalk Empire I guess and it is the best show on TV period.
There is always room for a mob series and there is always going to be a built in audience. I'm not sure they need to rehash a classic film with classic performances and turn it into a series though. No actors will capture the lightning in a bottle that was DeNiro, Liotta and Pesci with that particular screenplay.
I think they may be better off just doing a mob series and not "that" mob series....
Loved, loved that movie. Must have seen it a dozen times. As a series, sounds like Sopranos, Part 2.
ReplyDeleteUnless the cast completely wows me, I doubt I'll be interested in this. This doesn't seem like the type of show that should be on basic cable.
ReplyDeleteI thinks this will either be terrible or it could great if someone Has a clear idea of where they want to go and get good cast
ReplyDeleteNo. GoodFellas is like my second favorite movie of all time. It is perfect. I don't need more.
ReplyDeleteI Love the movie! If anybody can make it a good series it must be AMC.
ReplyDeleteThis thing will be compared to the Sopranos right off the bat, which will be it's doom.
ReplyDeleteI've always preferred Goodfellas over the Godfather so this makes me rather excited
ReplyDeleteHmmm, right now I'm not sold on this one. There's definitely potential there, but I'm just not a big fan of turning movies into TV shows. And this movie set a very high bar for the possible TV show so I'm not quite sure it'll work out.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's just in development yet and AMC already isn't giving out a lot of pilot orders, so we'll have to wait and see what happens with this one.
I don't know, I'd definitely check it out (as I'd do with everything on AMC), not sure I'd love it though.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about this. It is a great movie, so I can't see what a TV series would add to that. Time will tell I guess...
ReplyDeletepossibly, ure right. But the tv series will be told as a prequel. We wont see the absolutely perfect origin cast, and actually, i dont know if theres enough stuff to talk (film) about. On the other hand: the pilot is definitly a must watch for me. whatever comes.
