**UPDATE** Roy Dotrice is Hallyne the pyromancer. **UPDATE**

From George's site...
Okay, enough time: you've nailed it again.

Yes, it's ROY DOTRICE in the role of Hallyne the pyromancer, chief of the Guild of Alchemists.

The "hot hint" was a reference to pyromancy, of course.

Down under Manhattan, in the tunnel community of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Roy played Father, the wise leader of the tunnel folk.

Later, as audiobook reader, he did all the myriad voices in the first three Ice & Fire novels.

And of course the alchemists style themselves with the honorific "wisdom."

Roy is one of the finest actors I have ever had the privilege of working with, and I'm thrilled to have him back on the series.

Roy Dotricewas originally cast as Maester Pycelle, but due to health concerns was forced to pull out. Now, he's recovered and ready to rejoin the GoT cast.
Here's to recovered health and your new role!

  1. This one is not as tough as the others... if I am right.
"Down under he was the voice of wisdom" Hercules was filmed down under.. Roy played Zeus."Later he was the voice of everyone" = Roy Dotrice does the  audio book narration.

"Now he's wisdom"  = Wisdom Pollitor trained Hallyne the Pyromancer, who is the head of the Alchemist guild.

  2. I bow down in awe. Whether you're right or not, that's a pretty impressive line of thought.

  3. The voice of everyone was the thing that led me to the rest.

I thought of the audio books. I just posted some Jason Isaacs pictures for Awake, and Jason did the audio books for his last series ' Case Histories'. So "audio books" popped into my head.Googled that and Roy and the rest just connected. No confirmation yet though.

  6. Ha, Perlman made it easy for make up artists in The Beauty and the Beast and the Hellboy movies.

  7. I really like how GOT is a mix of well known faces, newcomers and people you sort of recognise

  13. It's too bad Dotrice wound up with such a small role. I would have preferred him as Cressen, but oh well. It's nice to see him being involved, no matter the capacity.

  14. IT could be somewhat largerwith hte change from the books to TV, but ya....  it would have been nice had he gotten a larger role.

Pycelle is around and a player to some degree in every book so far.... Hallyne? Not so much. Even a role like Craster would have had more appearances going by the books.
