Cougartown - May Soon Be Called Friends With Beverages

Courteney Cox has hinted that Cougar Town could be renamed Friends With Beverages.

The show's creator Bill Lawrence first revealed that he wanted to change the title over a year ago.

He recently wrote on his Twitter page that he is still unhappy with the name, saying: "Screw it. I'm changing it... Seriously, we just decided."

Cox has now revealed that Friends With Beverages is one of the frontrunners for the new title.

"[I like it because] it's a play on 'friends with benefits', it's a play on Friends and we all sure drink a lot of wine," she told TV Guide. "When I spoke to Bill Lawrence about this a couple of weeks ago, he was liking this one, but there are still other titles on the board."

Cougar Town will return with new episodes in midseason on ABC.

    I like Friends with Beverages, but I'm not a fan of mid-game name changes I guess.

    I don't really see the network going for a name change at this point. That's a lot of money in PR and branding down the drain.

    I really hope not. I thought it was a silly name when it started, but I don't like it when shows change their name, and I've heard it enough, I'm used to it!

    I get a warm feeling when thinking that the title could be 'Friends With Beverages'. I think it's a great title as long as they do something like: 'Friends With Beverages: Formerly Known As (The Badly Titled) Cougar Town'.

    Then again, it'll no doubt be shortened to 'Friends' when people refer to it and like maconotosh2000 said that would mean Courteney would be in two shows called Friends!

    I know they have to change it, and although it fits to the general concept of the show and the characters...it sounds dumb when u say it aloud. Even the standard and stereotypical and completely worn out idea "Jules & Friends" (aka "Jules & Co.") would be better.

    Even though...I'd stick with Cougar Town...it's already a brand name after two seasons.

    Cougar Town is the WORST title for such a show! But friends with beverges reminds me too much of friends so they really need to get another title ASAP!

    Stupid title. The entire idea of changing the title at all at all is also stupid. Bottom line: they change the title, then the show will begin to dive into forgotteness.
