It was nice to see Peter stop pussyfooting around Olivia and just tell her how he felt That the only one holding them back right now is Olivia not Fauxlivia...Go Peter! Poor Walter! Imagine thinking you may be the root cause of the world's destruction, or at a minimum... knowing you're the cause of time/space disruptions and instabilities to come. I'm not sure he is the one you want to add stress to.. dealing with guilt is not his strength! At least this did NOT lead to ambering the building THIS time....
Why do I think that the whole "just letting go could stop this" may be foreshadowing to Walter needing to let go of Peter later like September discussed with his other Observer friends....
For me this was better than the episode last week, but that was one of the weekest episodes of the season. A very slow episode that progressed the Peter/ Olivia relationship plot, but not a great episode for me.
That was fantastic! Did anyone notice the heart that replaced the dot in the last glyph? I love that Fringe is always throwing in minute details that they know hardcore fans will catch.
Best episode !!!!! REALLY POLIVIA, THE CASE, LINVIA IN THE END AND EVEN THE PROMO WERE AWESOME !!! Can FRinge could do better next week ?!! I hope so !!!
This was a very good episode but not great for me I guess. Last week's was a let down and one of the weaker episodes this season I thought. Maybe after my anger at Fauxlvia's pregnancy passes my opinion will change? i know some thought it the best of the season, so maybe I am just looking thru tinted lenses?
It's always interesting for me to see how my opinions evolve with multiple viewings. Some episodes lose something after I see them a few times and others get better each time. I will give it a while before I test the waters again on last week's though.....
Ive been hating on the writers for weeks now for turning olivia into a moping, nervous wreck. But tonight she came full circle. Writers, I apologize.
The sex scene or whatever, was written so beautifully I literally had tears. Normally Id want to see them hook up but this was class, above the fray, if you will. Mature and fitting.
Was definitely the highlight of the episode, to see Peter and Olivia moving past Fuaxlivia-gate... more specifically, Olivia going over there and them going upstairs together.... :)
I actually liked the crossover at the end to show how the effect was dealt with on both sides. It also showed the continuity of time in Red and Blue.. .and it was interesting to see the old man be so fearful of the Fringe unit over there.
I might watch it this weekend, but usually I re-watch it immediately or not for a few weeks when I do a little mini-marathon during an hiatus or before a finale etc....
Yeah, I agree. Total props to the writers for not being afraid to get there leads together in the third season, I admire that some shows (B**es) could take some major advice from you, after all that's what sent that show down the tanker, they were to afraid. But not you Fringe!! Good job. and it works. :-)
Cheers, To Peter and Olivia too for getting of the relationship slump...downside, the little matter of the baby on the other side. But they said that it would be unconventional how they dealt with it so maybe it won't impeed them.
What's your take on when we will meet our Lee? and what FeauxLiv must have told Lee and Scarlie about the reason she didn't die or get infected from the bugs... you think she told the truth or just let it roll off?
Ya know, I haven't really thought about when we will meet our Lincoln. Now I am wondering though... thanks :)
I never expect things Fauxlivia says to be full truths, but honestly I did not get a strong enough vibe to form an opinion either way. I must have just let it roll off... I will pay closer attention and see what I think next time I watch that part.
I guess some things just impact me and make me theorize... others just don't hit me at all. I try not to get too caught up in analyzing every detail of Fringe like I did with LOST. I think sometimes I get lost (pun not intended) in the enjoyment of watching an episode if I don't just sit back and enjoy the ride they take us on. Other times I do pause the episode and think... try to recall past episodes and connect to events together. Usually I try to do that more on second or third viewing though honestly.
yeah, totally relate! I'm a big LOST fan too, so I know for sure what your talking about, I think everyone I know or talk to knows how much of a fan I am. I'm starting to think that may have just transferred to fringe.
I thought of that too... but I'm still not exactly sure when something happens to one "alternate" the other experiences the same thing. We know death does not follow in unison on both sides, like when "our" Peter died so Walter stole "their" Peter that was still alive. Although you can never be certain with FRINGE if rules apply universally or if there was circumstances that contributed to any one event.
I would easily say this was the best episode of the season, and would make it in my top 8. I loved every minute of it. Watching Walter struggle but in such a mature way, removed from what would have been typical for his earlier post brain-removal behavior was beautiful. You could see him settle the weight of his actions and choices with a sort of accepting grace and sadness that was heartwrenching but genuine to watch. That, crossed with some of his best and in character humor was wonderful. That endearing and almost humorous way he broke down into nerves next to Astrid in the lab was brilliant.
The case worked well and tied in well with a lot of the characters' emotional journeys. Even Peter and Olivia's way of communicating with one another reversed my opinion, since I thought their very mature and worthwhile way of relating to one another took on a very rapid entropy and was eroding in a sort of irrevocable way from what I became fond of in seasons 1 & 2. They both seemed much more in character, responsible, and the open dialogue and acting of it worked seamlessly this time. So yes, I'm happy. I've been in the minority in so much that I've only liked a few episodes this season, but this reminded me why I love Fringe so much.
I think this is one of those episode that will get better every time I watch it. While I thought it was a great episode, it just felt slow to me at times. Not sure why. It's odd, I loved Walter's reaction to the event, loved the Peter and Olivia dynamic, and the plot definitely worked well with the characters personal emotional journeys.... and cannot think of a detail or subplot I did not care for. So maybe I like it more than I realized, but am just in one of those moods where nothing comes off as awesome? lol
So well done, so beautiful. This is the best episode this season for me, it didn't hit any false notes (OK, one, where Walter absolves Walternate, can we stop with Oursiders pointing out to us how blameless Theirsiders are? Let us decide that for ourselves)--but the characters moved and grew realistically. Walter's a darling Shipper! And it was great to see the gravity, the maturity, of both Peter and Olivia--they wanted to work past the wreckage of Fauxlivia, and they are. Loved too how both Peter and Olivia had things to say --from the heart--that helped the widow move on... they saved a chunk of both universes tonight! And while it would be nice to see the two of them waking up together, I think there will be time for that, and we can smile at the thought of them erasing the "shouldn't have beens" and making their own future.
and I agree with the poster upstream about Bones....... they drove me away with the desolation rained down on Booth and Bones, kudos to Fringe for shattering that taboo.
I voted awesome and it's great that so many others did too. The grief of two people in alternate universes causing the situation in 6B is downright spooky. Keep up the good work Fringe.
The episode really got me thinking about what's really causing the universes to unravel and I've started questioning whether Walter's original explanation is true. We now know that people can affect the universes so what if the real reason for the universes coming apart is that Peter was kidnapped from the other side and grew up in this universe creating some sort of imbalance between the universes. If this true then killing of Peter could theoretically restore balance but I think there may be another way that the writers are building to. We know Fauxlivia is pregnant and we can assume Peter and Ourlivia had sex, therefore both Olivia's COULD be pregnant with Peter's children. If the same situation that occurred with Walter/Peter (getting sick, dying, being taken from the other universe) were to happen in reverse with these children, could order be restored? If both Olivia's give birth but Fauxlivia's child dies and she takes Ourlivia's I think that balance might return. I could be totally off here but I feel like the writers were foreshadowing to something bigger with last nights storyline.
I thought of the same thing last night. I would be somewhat annoyed if emotions or Peter being taken from Red are the ONLY reasons for the breaches, but I find it interesting how Peter's returning to Red may effect stability.
I had not quite got to the point of comparing Peter's effects to Peter's sons effects on the two universe. Interesting. It might be a bit of a long play, unless like you suggested, Fauxlivia's baby dies at birth. It certainly would set up a fourth season of trying to get Olivia's and Peter's baby back. I have some doubt about it happening that way though, because of September talking about Walter needing to be able to let Peter go... or he will be ready to let him go in the future. I take that as a more Peter-centric solution than Peter's baby... but it is VERY intriguing!
It was great! Watched the last 3 at once so it's hard to seperate them but really enjoyed it. I think I like Fringe better that way hahaa. Every time I watched it with only 1 ep I dont like it.
My thoughts: Why didn't they eat those pancakes? They looked good. Was I imagining it or were AltDerek's pictures (in the album) the same as Alice-over-here? Are Walter and Nina getting it on? If both Olivias get baby bumps, Peter STILL won't be able to tell them apart. That'll really piss off our Olivia!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Understandable. I'm curious what you'll think about it when you watch again.

yeah? How did you like them crossing over again at the end of tonights?
ReplyDeleteYou gonna watch tonights tomorrow on Hulu?

ReplyDeleteSo what happens does Olivia on this side follow the Fauxlivia and become pregnant too? That is a possibility.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out! That was so sweet of them to put that in; really tied the whole episode together even more.
ReplyDeleteI consider this to be the best episode since the serie's return.
ReplyDeleteyeahh thats what i thought... she should be pregnant then too right? lol

I was right :-D...I wrote a comment under sneek peak video and I knew that Derrick lost his wife over there and woman from over here lost her Derrick.
ReplyDeleteAnd episode was awesome of course. One of the best this season. I love this kind of episodes :-D. But I love almost all of them :-D.
