Persons Unknown - Episode 1.04 - Exit One - Recap

29 Jun 2010

After three episodes that felt relatively similar in atmosphere and plot, Persons Unknown changes the pace with “Exit One.” Instead of watching the hostages come up with an escape plan, and be disappointed when it inevitably fails, some of the hostages are actually offered a chance to leave. But in this crazy deserted town, things are just never that easy…

  1. Cool, thanks for the recap.

The ending was a bit of a surprise. I thought Joe might be involved but the Chinese Chef, that got me :)

As for why they are being held.. No idea, it appears almost like some Social engineering Experiment

  2. Yeah I didn't think the Chinese Chef was involved either. I thought the Night Manager was innocent in this as well but after last night I'm thinking he might know more than he's leading us to believe.

I like the idea that it's some kind of experiment as well. Saying that it's a process makes it seem like they're testing the hostages somehow.

  3. Another recapper had the idea that perhaps Joe isn't as "in" on it as we are being led to believe. The idea that perhaps Joe was a survivor of an earlier cycle of this elaborate setup, and that to get to his end he must assimilate himself into this new cycle, and help set them up for something. I also like the idea that he isn't the only one as well, that perhaps Moira, and Bill are also hold overs from other cycles, but none of them are from the other's respective cycles so none of them know about the others. So if this is correct then that might mean that each hold over has been assigned a newbie to work with and manipulate into doing something. This also suggests that after the newbies complete some task then perhaps they get to move up and get let in on the secret bit by bit. notice that it started with 7 people, so there was one person who didn't have a pairing. I say that that person was Tori, and that she just graduated from the program.
