Scene Of The Week - December 27, 2015 + POLL

28 Dec 2015

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

DOCTOR WHO, "The Husbands of River Song", December 25, 2015, Actors: Peter Capaldi, Alex Kingston and more, The Scene: River realizes she's with the Doctor
Justyna K:
I really enjoyed this Christmas episode, though I wish it ended on a more hopeful, less tragically beautiful moment. The Doctor and River's long goodbye on Darillium would be my honorable mention this week. The scene I wanted to include the most in the article is River's speech about the Doctor and how he couldn't possibly love her and be by her side, only to realize he's standing right behind her. There was just so much heart in River's words and that vulnerability was wonderfully acted by Alex Kingston. Also, the Doctor's reaction was saying so much with nothing but the look on his face. The fact that prof. Song is in love with the Doctor was never a secret, regardless of some of her past actions. But the Doctor is never one to be open with his feelings, so it's not a surprise she didn't expect him to care this much about her. The interactions between River and Twelve were great and I only wish we got to see more of them. Kudos to the cast & crew for their work!

HOMELAND, "A False Glimmer", December 20, 2015, Actors: Claire Danes, Rupert Friend
The Scene: The final scene
Darth Locke:
Carrie sees the light, when she's about to put Quinn out of his misery.

INTO THE BADLANDS, "Hand of Five Poisons", December 20, 2015, Actors: Daniel Wu and more
The Scene: Sunny fights the monks to protect M.K
Kollin Lore:
All the fight scenes in this show had been well choreographed and absolutely jaw dropping. This last one of the season was exceptionally astounding. Finally, we see Sunny at his most vulnerable.

THE AFFAIR, "212", December 20, 2015, Actors: Colin Donnell and more
The Scene: Scotty sings at the wedding reception
Darth Locke:
Scotty sings a disconcerting version of House of the Rising Sun at the wedding reception.

THE EXPANSE, "Remember the Cant", December 22, 2015, Actors: Shohreh Aghdashloo and more
The Scene: Degraff confronts Avarasala
Kollin Lore:
Degraff tells Avarasala he is done playing her games after being used by her. This is a great character moment revealing the lengths Avarasala is willing to go to get what she wants and the effects her actions has on others.

THE LIBRARIANS, "And the Happily Ever Afters", December 20, 2015, Actors: Rebecca Romijn and more, The Scene: Everyone rejects their stories
Justyna K:
It was quite an insane episode. Full of magic and adventure, and crazy plot twists, as always. So exactly what I enjoy the show. I was glad to see Flynn telling everyone about the spell and breaking it, making all realize who they actually are. I especially liked what he told to Jacob: "You are 10,000 years of human beings singing and dancing and painting and writing their hearts and souls into the world. This Library was built for you. This is your home." Beautifully said. But most of all, I loved how all the Librarians and Eve rejected their "happily ever afters" because it meant they wouldn't stay together. And their friendship, fighting with what's coming side by side is what mattered the most in the end. Kudos!
