  1. Dark Tower to HBO, AMC or Netflix. It would make an extraordinary series!!!

  2. A poll close to my heart as Stephen King is one of my favourite authors.

Misery and The Green Mile already have excellent films so I wouldn't redo them. They already tried remaking Carrie and it was bad. King may not like the original Shining but it would be hard to beat.

11/22/63 is already being made into a mini-series.

So with those that are left

The Dark Tower is my number one choice but it has to be done by a cable channel. I still think parts of it are probably way too weird but I want to see it on screen anyway.

Salem's Lot would be a good one and should be done by the same channel doing The Dark Tower so they can cross the streams. Ditto with The Stand.

So basically dear HBO/AMC/Netflix create a TV Stephen King Verse because that would be awesome.

  3. Absolutely, I know they keep trying to make movies but I think TV is the only way to make it work.

  4. STORM OF CENTURY!!!

  5. King wrote Storm of the Century as a TV Mini-series, so its not based on one of his book. I wouldn't mind a remake though, not sure if anyone could top Colm Feore for the creepiness though.

  6. Cell! I loved that book. I know that it's being made into a film, but I'd still love to see it on the small screen.

  7. The Dark Tower on Cable network.

  8. 11/22/63, really? Great news. Now I don't have to finish the book.

  9. Yeah Hulu are doing it. I recommend the book though its one of my favourite recent King novels but then I do love time travel http://deadline.com/2014/09/11-22-63-show-jj-abrams-stephen-king-hulu-838422/

  10. '11/22/63' and I really liked 'Joyland' as well.

  11. Beside The Dark Tower (I want Timothy Olyphant as Roland with all my heart and soul already!), It to HBO of FX.

And I want JK Simmons as Pennywise :-D

  12. The Dark Tower Series are going to be movies...

  13. Dark Tower. Would love a new version of The Stand. Also Salem's Lot. I think that could be adapted into a longer form TV series if they wanted.

  14. Since it was already a series I had to pick The Dead Zone. I also picked The Stand (I thought the books last third was rushed, but I think an extended war between good and evil could work), and Salem's Lot (I have this niggle in the back of my mind that they did try that as a series. But it could just be the opening ot the Lance Kerwin mini-series that I'm thinking of )

Haven't read Dark Tower, but given the serial nature of the book I'm guessing it would...though I didn't vote because I haven't read it.

  15. I recently started with Dark Tower, so I would definitely be on board with that getting adapted... preferably on cable... (and this was my only vote TBH)

Misery, Carrie, The Green Mile, Hearts in Atlantis, Cujo and It already have pretty decent-to-great adaptations, so I can live without those... and some of them are already getting reboots anyway.

Despite The Shinning being more of a Kubrick movie than a SK adaptation, it is such a classic, I really don't think it's a good idea. Let the book and the movie live separately and move on...

Dead Zone has had it's chance, so no.

The Stand is a pretty good 90's mini series, but I wouldn't mind a revisiting of the material.

Lastly I wouldn't be opposed to Pet Cemetary and/or Salems Lot either...

  16. I would say IT and the dark tower series

    ReplyDelete
  17. The Stand would make an excellent TV series because it has so many rich characters. Also IT the mini-series sucked so I'd love for them to try again on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hulu bought that. I think they are still in the casting phase.

  19. Salem's Lot!

I would have loved to create a show about Kings Vampire-Universe, telling the story of the original novel as season 1, following with "One For the Road" as the first part of season 2 and the night Flier as the second half.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Salems Lot could easily be turned into a long running series, it's predestined for that. Especially since there're multiple stories tying into the book and following them. Plus The Night Flier could easily be tied into it as well (by simply making Barlow the Night Flier)

  21. it did have a young Seth Green though :P

  22. I picked It,(I love It) Salem's Lot, and Misery (just b/c i love it so).

Hahaha can't belive Chrisitine is up there. That made me laugh so hard. I would not want to see that as a series. Same with Carrie b/c it's been done sooo many times.

  23. Jonathan Brandis.

  24. I'm still confused why the 2013 version of Carrie has such a big teen fanbase, kinda disturbing if you think about it given that a batch of teen girls are rooting for Carrie (at least from what I've seen on such fanpages)

  25. he was way before my time, the first time I grew aware of his stuff was in 2010.
he man passed way before his time :(

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't/haven't pay/paid attention to that at all. None of those kids no what a good Carrie film is.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You should read some of the comments they wrote about Sissy Spacek, some really nasty stuff.

Guess Carrie sufferend the fangirl curse too, Chloe Whatsherface is someone they live through

  28. Ah I see. Well I loved him. Till this day I'm upset over his suicide. I remember when I heard about it I cried. Sigh. Damn shame. I will always love him in Sidekicks the most. I loveed that movie as a kid.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The original Salem's Lot scared the beejeebus out of me as a kid. Loved it growing up and Mr Barlow was one of the most frightening characters for me as a kid. Had to sleep in my parents room the first time I saw it lol

  30. I'd love to see another Rose Red and It

    ReplyDelete
  31. Same for me, I was scared as hell that night. Especially the scene that had young Tommy (? was that his name?) urge his friend to invite him in while hovering outside....that scene was so damn eerie

    ReplyDelete
  32. Rose Red was fine as it was. I hope that never gets touched.

  33. We have the same Roland dream casting! I need that badly. And JK as Pennywise, damn that is a great choice.

There's already been a Shining miniseries though too. It aired on ABC in January of 97.

There's already a It movie on the way. The director of True Detective was gonna do it but he backed out just the other day.

  36. Oh yeah the one King liked because it was more faithful, I wasn't a fan myself.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The Dark Tower and Christine from the list, and I'd like a Rose Madder mini-series.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Talisman. I have been waiting half my life for them to do The Talisman. Aside from that, The Mist could really use a remake. I was never happy with the ending of it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Timothy is born to be Roland :-) Let's hope that the Powers that Be will listen to us.

The only thing that I really liked about that 1990's adaptation was Tim Curry's performance. I had to find someone who can challenge that memory of him in my head :-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Tim Curry performance is why I am actually very scared of clowns, it is a tough one to beat but your choice is a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm SO glad someone said The Talisman. It has a rich world that would lend itself very well to television.

It needs to be made. Right here and now.

    ReplyDelete
  42. From the list, I think The Dark Tower series would make a great series. I liked the original Dead Zone TV show but I could do without a remake. The Stand could also be a good candidate. The rest would make good "limited series" (I don't see a show based on Cujo going the four seasons to syndication route).

    Not on the list.....

Needful Things. I don't think it could be a long running series (again, don't see it lasting 88 episodes to syndication but if it was a cable show that was 13-16 episodes/season, it could go for several season). That being said, if they got Julian Richings to play Leland Gaunt, I'd watch from beginning to end no matter how long it went for!

The Mist. My favorite short story ever (I still get twitchy when there is a lot of fog/mist in the mornings) and the movie sucked out loud. TV show could explore the before events before the Mist starts too.

The Eyes of the Dragon. One of my favorite SK novels. I think this has been kicking around at SyFi for a few years. Maybe when Haven wraps up, they will give this one a go.

    ReplyDelete
  43. oh, the ending of The Mist was one of the things I loved most about it. Not because I love morbid endings or anything. I just thought it was a really brave way to go. Not a lot of quality storytellers take this route. There's usually some kind of happy ending for the character(s). That film haunted me for weeks after seeing it. Really stuck with me. I attribute the ending for most of that, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The Stand remains one of my favorite books. There's a real richness of cast and great scope of locales. It could easily be a five season or so series. The 90s miniseries is okay for what it was but let's face it--tv is better nowadays. You could strip away a lot of the cheesiness from that thing. Jamey Sheridan could reprise his role though. I'd be okay with that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm not speaking of a remake really... just a continuation kinda
because it was a great tv movie and left me at least wanting to see more at the end of it all

    ReplyDelete
  46. Remake, reboot, continuation, just no. lol Sorry, it was great the way it was, it shouldnt be touched. If it's touched, like all the others it'll get a bad rep, Wed get some corny cast, b/c none of the originals would come back, it'd be awful, no need for that. And can i ask more of what exactly?? I mean it was over. They all moved on with their lives, the mansion was demolished, anyone would be stupid to go back in there after its reconstruction, and the second most (though i'd personally feel he's THE most interesting) character doesn't even have his powers anymore. And i wouldn't want some story where he "passed it on down to his kids." Cause, oh my god, who cares?! lmaoo. Sorry.
