Castle - Have ABC Cancelled the Show?

12 Apr 2015

Update: 22:05 Thanks to Jovan for the heads up on these tweets from Yesterday.

We've been getting lots of Castle fans sending in various links/photos to us that have been coming from the cast and crew recently.

Do these quotes and photos indicate that Castle has in fact ended?

We think here at SpoilerTV that it does seem to suggest that Season 7 will in fact be the last one.

What do you think? Vote in the poll?

If you find any other links, please feel free to post in them in the comments below.

Update: The Tweet below is referring to Nathan's recent fundraiser

  1. Nathan's tweet was in reference to the last day of fund raising for the Con Man series. It had nothing to do with Castle. While the show may not come back, that tweet does nothing to indicate this.

  2. I don't thnk the show was cancelled. I think the actors didn't sign a new contract and that's why the show is ending.

    ReplyDelete
  3. It might be canceled, but just to suppose that based on those posts makes no sense, really.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Shut the front. WTF !

    ReplyDelete
  5. Thanks, I've updated the post.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I doubt a decision has been made yet, every year the cast a crew send out tweets similar to this when they wrap a season. I don't think we can assume anything right now.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I dont think a decision has been made yet i think they know there is a chance this might be the end so they are saying goodbye just incase.

    ReplyDelete
  8. They are just filming the final episode of the season and their tweets are a goodbye to this season.I doubt that Castle will be cancelled!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Why don't you delete Nathan fillion's tweet ? It has nothing to do with the show.

    ReplyDelete
  10. i don't think so as the abc boss wants to keep the show for a few more years.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I don't think it'll be concluded rather than cancelled. But yes, I don't think the pictures and captions have to do with it

    ReplyDelete
  12. It does seem like it was. Although they could be talking about this season.
I really hope it's not the end. I love this show, it's not as good as it was when it started but it's good. And I really hope they give us at least one more season.
If anyone from ABC is reading this (I doubt it), please don't cancel Castle.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Stana's quote seems like a goodbye to me.

    "
Although experts at lollygagging, procrastinating & pontificating; they do manage to squeeze out a season or so of television every year. ;) I have enjoyed working & laughing with all of you over the years. Thank you for your grace & humor. You created & developed a wonderful character, and I've had the privilege of being a conduit for your creativity.

  14. Goodbye Revenge 😢 2011-201512 April 2015 at 16:16

It is the same with revenge. People have sort of been saying goodbye but no one knows.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Farewell Revenge 2011-201512 April 2015 at 16:20

I don't think so, I mean its ratings are not that bad.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's more about the cost. Plus the contracts were up.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It is possible - the show cost a lot to produce

    ReplyDelete
  18. And the rumors are back,PLEASE STOP we don't know anything yet. X fingers for season 8

    ReplyDelete
  19. Goodbye Revenge 😢 2011-201512 April 2015 at 16:25

As Alex has said it Has to do with their contracts. Abc had actually said that they Would like it for many years so it will not be cancelled really, it might end

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ohh my brother will be heartbroken, he loves the show but even he said the quality isn't what it's used to be.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ABC should really be announcing their shows as final season if it is final season

    ReplyDelete
  22. Rob Kyker, member of the Castle crew, confirm on twitter that no decision have been taken yet. So no, Castle was not cancelled. He said it himself, fans should not believe in RUMORS.

All the writers and crew seem to be optimistic for a next season, and for the actors, most of then don't know but they definitly want to come back (Molly, Penny, Seamus, ...) but it's up to Stana and Nathan. So like everybody, they prepare themselves just in case.

And for Stana's tweets, she always emotional at the end of the season, she scared the Castle fandom every year, and yet Castle is still on air.

We just have to wait for the official announcement. So why just speculate with these?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Cancelled isn't the right word, because it suggests that the channel doesn't want to continue - which is not true.
However I think there is a high chance that the two leads (or one of them, but in Castle's case it's enough) don't want to continue. Both Stana and Nathan has told multiple times before that they aren't on "the longer the better" bandwagon.

Nathan has his new project, the ConMan series, plus several movie offers and he had already complained because his back problems Castle schedule is very tiring to him. Stana production company has two books to make feature films, not a task what you can do while working 16 hours a day on the set. Not to mention that unlike Nathan she has expressed many times that she wants to work on different genres, wants to work with certain actors and directors - it's tricky when your calendar is free only for three months in a year. She doesn't talk about her personal life, but she is going to be 36 in this month, so wanting to have a family can also be among the cards.

The other side of the coin is that even though the complete dry spell was lifted from ABC, only HTGAWM can be considered as a success. The rest of the newcomers fares around or below Castle's present numbers and even seeing the whole scripted drama roster of the channel, it's around the average. Even with its decreasing numbers S8 could be around a 1.3 average and a 1.0 season minimum. It's also pretty well sold abroad, so IMHO if the leads don't ask astronomical raises, ABC would bow for one more season.

That there are no official news yet, it's normal. Castle's fandom has a pretty loud and well, say "enthusiastic" part, I doubt that the crew would have wanted to ruin the last weeks of their work with picket lines and hysterical fans at the gate, even if the decision has already been made. However the filming will end on 17th and - if the ravings about how good was the spirit in the set were not just PR - I'm sure that the actors will want to say a proper goodbye to the crew, just like Nina Dobrev did.

If they do so, we will know it after the wrap-up party, there are too many people there to keep it secret. If there will be no news about the future in the next fews days after the party, than the contract negotiations are serious, the actors are willing to make another season. In this case I'm pretty sure there will be another one.

    ReplyDelete
  24. As always, leads don't want to continue until someone offer them money. It's all about money. If ABC offer them a good contract, they'll sign.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Do you have the twitter link plz ?

    ReplyDelete
  26. well it's essentially the same, ABC could continue it without Fillion. But they apparently didn't choose to

    ReplyDelete
  27. OMG!!!! Better not be but if it is this a good time for someone to resurrection FIREFLY and cast Stana Katic in the show

    ReplyDelete
  28. I for one see nothing to indicate this show has ended other than for the season. Sure there are contracts negotiations still on going. That proves there is still interest on getting and 8th or more seasons. I will not worry too much about a season ending until it is official.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Stana has never made such an all round farewell-ish series of posts before. That some crazy and stupid fans always saw monsters where there weren't any, it doesn't mean that those posts in previous years were anything close to this. She practically saying goodbyes to everybody on her instagram, posting different "memory" pictures on each working days. It's not one or two, it's a series. Plus, the huge difference from anything before that then the decision was at the channel - now it's in her hand, so if she doesn't want to leave, nobody will kick her out.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think they are just teasing us. Stop jumping into conclusions. Nothing is confirmed, yet.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'd say yes, it might've been cancelled.

Didn't Fillion refuse to show up to work at one point? (and in return loves to show up on multiple shows he likes? Like Community and TBBT)

He does a LOT of non-show work, unlike many other network regulars

    ReplyDelete
  32. no please!!!!!! we really need another season and more

    ReplyDelete
  33. Perhaps the season will end with Beckett getting promoted to Captain in her precinct and that's why we're saying goodbye to the old one.

    ReplyDelete
  34. What if it's Nathan who's not sure if he want to come back? Even if she want to, she could do nothing about it, without Nathan the show is over. Just like the show is over if she doesn't to come back but Nathan wants it.

It's both of them or the show is over. So, yes even she wants to sign, but Nathan doesn't she needs to prepare herself just like the others.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yep, he did http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/07/castle-season-6-production-shut-down-on.html

    ReplyDelete
  36. It sounds like goodbye to me. What are the odds ABC will let two of their long running shows go? Revenge and Castle, or just one? Maybe they have faith in their pilots next season.

-I don't watch either one so my opinion is just based as an outside observer. Not quality.

    ReplyDelete
  37. the pictures may indicate that the show is ending but nothing is for sure yet !
one of the show runners, said that we don't have to believe all that's said because when the time comes , we'll be sure of ABC's decision !

    ReplyDelete
  38. looks like he isn't too hot on the show

    ReplyDelete
  39. Indeed, but it comes to the same place: at least one of the two leads has decided that they don't want to continue, and that was the point. I don't believe for a second that the two of them don't know what the other one wants, where they stand.

    ReplyDelete
  40. #lmfao about that twitter "fight" about this news.
    People are sometimes hilarious. Unbelievable.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yet the crew (writers, executive producer, showrunner) seem all optimistic for a next season.

So why Stana or Nathan knew the other's decison but not the crew. They all work closer together. They didn't sign yet, that how negociation works.

    ReplyDelete
  42. For crying out loud. Nathan Fillion was talking about his fundraiser coming to an end! Get a grip. And Stana's pictures, they're just her getting ready to take a hiatus break, every year members of the cast/crew say goodbye to people they spend more time with than their own families, think about to what it was like when you were in school and you were about to go on Summer break.. Same thing, they do this every year.

For posting this you're nothing more than idiots. Or click baiting.. most likely both. Shameful!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nathan & Stana were both burned out by the long hours. They chose to negotiate as a team with ABC, for max contracts for both. Something ABC with the sinking demo coulding.financially do.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think it's just the cast are teasing us.and the they are saying good bye to season 7. Like they do every season.
I hope we get another season.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thunder_Road_Rock12 April 2015 at 17:16

"The show cost"...It could, but it's one of the most important show on ABC, If they cancel every show that cost there will be no more great show on air...It seems a (big) little improbable this "excuse"...Stana Katic has been posting bts pics and comments that seem a bit too revealing, IMHO, but I don't think she'll "misled" the fans about the end of the show in this way 'cause they know how passionate are their fandom and this wouldn't be the right way, my opinion...Again, again and again, everyone near the show and not say that even If still now there hasn't been a renewal it's not strange, they're going to (the actors, in particulare) make a decision after the end of the show but, I think, If the show will end this year, more or less the authors and the channel'd know or imagine it to be able to end it the best way possible...And If not, it'd be a bad move by the actors, again, in my opinion...Let's hope Castle fans xD

    ReplyDelete
  46. The rest of the cast isn't optimistic, they said they don't know anything (Seamus Dever specifically told that he hasn't even been contacted about the extension.) From the top level, only Amman gave an interview and he told that there are negotiations and he is sure that ABC wants the next season - that was a no brainer.

I told the reason why everybody tries to show a happy face yet don't make high hopes: there is a very vocal and selfcentered part of the Castle fandom, who believes that the actors are theirs, that they have the right to want things from them. If I were responsible for the work, I would want to pacify them by all means, otherwise they could be a pain in the ass, mainly if there are location shoots where they can't be completely closed out.

I don't rule out that there are negotiations and nothing has been decided yet, but looking at the whole picture, I tend to believe that it's not the case. In about a week time we will know. As I said, if the ball is in ABC's court (to give what they want), I believe they will yield.

    ReplyDelete
  47. You can't be serious!?

Nathan was talking referring to his fundraiser coming to an end! And Stana is just saying goodbye to people she's spent more time with than her family and friends. The hiatus is a long break, she does this kind of thing every year, it's nothing new.

Why people insist on trying to stir up trouble and spread rumors baffles me.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Conman has nothing to do with anything, it was designed to film during the hiatus, it films in June so will affect absolutely nothing.

ABC also has other shows they consider a success. One of them is even getting a spinoff which was unofficially announced this week.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Again speculation and rumor where people don't have any clue what REALLY happened. Don't believe everything you read on the internet folks,. Nathan isn't the kind of person who would willingly do anything that cause trouble to other people.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I dont think it has anything to do with money at all. At the end of the day they are artists and might prefer a change. And they are people after all

    ReplyDelete
  51. And in return it's also speculation to assume that it's not what happened. But it has been reported so there's actually some truth behind that (read the article, it's pretty well documented)

I've been a fan of Nathan for quite a while now and while I'd be bummed (not sad but bummed) I could see Castle end sooner than later because of him being such a highly demanded actor. He's not going to struggle to find work, wich doesen't bind him to every gig he has

7 seasons is more than many shows get

    ReplyDelete
  52. SHIELD isn't a new show and it's hardly a success - with or without spinoff. It stays, but considering that now it's at about one third of its pilot audience only one and a half year ago, and has lost about 30% since this season premiere, it isn't a success in any terms.

The potential spinoff can be either because the want to try something else instead of another run of Agent Carter, or because they want to try something else instead of SHIELD (like focusing more on the inhumans, which will be more in the center in the coming MCU movies).

    ReplyDelete
  53. ABC claimed it wanted Castle back. Not sure if this statement was paradoxical. Since Nathan nor Stana have signed their contracts. The hold up $. ABC should pay Nathan and Stana the same salary it pays their other stars of ABC's hit procedurals and comedy shows. From all I have read on Twitter and pics. I have seen the fat lady is tunning up! This appears to be a farewell and no S8 for Castle. Too bad it was the best show on Monday nights save all of TV and we really loved Castle. I am sure that the creative writers have written an outstanding ending for the show. Good luck to the stars, cast, writers and the crew of Castle. You will continue to have a full and meaningful career. Sad very sad (Castle) too see you go!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I voted "unsure". These quotes (the things that the cast and crew have been saying/tweeting publicly seem to indicate that the show is ending with this years finale. But it might just be that they want to be cautious, and are saying those things because it might be the end.
If it is the end (show cancelled, contracts not renewed, etc), then all those things will hint to this fact. If the show continues (I personally think and hope that s8 will happen, even if in short version, like 6 episodes. I hope the network, and cast and everyone comes to an agreement to do a few more things to wrap it up more nicely...with an end date in mind so that the story can be crafted ahead to lead to the end), then all these things will be about the end of THIS current season.
So while these pictures and words to go with them are suggesting it ends with s7 finale, I am "hoping"/thinking that s8 will be. And they are either all just preparing for the end and/or it is a tactic to pressure the people in the negotiations to have s8 happen. #crazytheories

    ReplyDelete
  55. OMG you guys
I really believed that it would get a shorter final season
What if I was foolin myself this whole time and there's no such a thing

    ReplyDelete
  56. What on earth?Another silent cancellation like Revenge?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Why would ABC pay the leads more given the fact the show doesn't do great in the ratings?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Has the revenge cast also posted goodbye photos like this??

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ouch this does look like they're ending the show. Hopefully they give a good finale.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh okay so revenge still has a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Honestly, since this is a contract year, I think NF and especially SK are holding out for more money and are sending out these tweets to get the fans stirred up, and contact the network. I'm am one of the biggest Nathan fans out there and really want to see the show come back, but I think Katic and Seamus Dever are really playing with some of the twitter fans emotions with all these posts. The stars need to either sign or not sign new contracts, but they should stop playing games with the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  62. God, I Hope NOT! There Isn't and Will NEVER Be Any Other Show On TV Like It! But Then Again, Eve If The Mothership Is Cancelled, There's Always The Upcoming Derek Storm Spinoff though, right?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I do think the jawing about how 'tired' Stana and Nathan are is kind of hilarious - because, you know, Nathan had ALL those hit shows where he was the lead and Stana was huge before Castle. I'm sure both will replicate that kind of success very soon.... It's odd that we hear these stories and negotiations for a show that is just an average hit and was on the bubble for how many years? Also, I'm not sure why ABC would want to let it go - it's one of the very few series it has owned recently that actually works in syndication. Sorry, but all the soapy serial don't have that kind of longevity - yet (though streaming has certainly helped upped the value of serials).

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think they're just getting sentimental about the end of the season. I doubt it's been cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I never understand the extasy over the Derrick Storm spinoff, in fact I don't get the whole spinoff idea. It will not have to do anything with Castle, the show. Different actors, different cast and the show is based on stories which are written by noname ghostwriters to the hadcore Castle fandom. The books were (probably) a good and cheap merchandise product line, but only the die hard Castle groupies were interested in them. Why would it be a good spinoff?

    ReplyDelete
  66. That's pretty much the same thing. If it's not ending at a mutual time, then it's being cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I feel sorry for fans if true. For me it would be a relief as I am like 7 or so eps behind with no real inclination to catch up. But I'd be surprised if it ended in May without some final season announcement months beforehand.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Didn't they do this for several seasons now? I can't see ABC canning it and I inagine negotiations are still underway. Orobavly just filming wrapping.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yes,they have.Not a group one,as far as i know though.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Goodbye Revenge 😢 2011-201512 April 2015 at 19:22

    No not really

    ReplyDelete
  71. Farewell Revenge 2011-201512 April 2015 at 19:25

The cast yesterday also just posted something yesterday about the season 4 finale, and none of them said something about it being a series finale.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Obviously the ABC PR Zedi got to them. The crew pic-the one which said goodbye for all the 4 years confirmed it all.I know you're still in denial(i don't blame you) but it's game over for Revenge.Sorry my friend.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Farewell Revenge 2011-201512 April 2015 at 19:32

I'm not in denial as you could obviously see from my title and avator, I just saw the filming pics saying that its a wrap for season 4. I know that it will likely be cancelled this season though

    ReplyDelete
  74. I hope so. I've loved this show for 6 seasons but i'm ready to see them in something different. There really isn't much left for them to do.Sure, have a baby,Beckett getting a promotion and if they don't conclude what happened to Castle then there is that. Wrap it up in a nice bow and lets say farewell...

    ReplyDelete
  75. Stana was Huge before Castle? what was Stana in besides guest starring or having one or two recurring characters in other shows.

    ReplyDelete
  76. It has everything to do with money.

    ReplyDelete
  77. No, no, no, no, no! This can't happen! As long as they don't announce it officially, there's still hope.

    ReplyDelete
  78. IMHO it was intended to be sarcasm. Not that it matters: just because somebody hasn't got a big career six years ago it doesn't make the workload now any easier.

Not to mention that most people forget that making 150+ episodes as a lead of primetime network show means one thing: a huuuuuge bunch of money, already in their pocket. Practically none of them need to work anything anymore and even then they won't have to check the right side of the menu first.

It's a common idea, that actors are dying for a steady role - which is true if they don't have any. But if you have enough money to not care about any new job - why would you want to stick to one which you are tired of?

    ReplyDelete
  79. I am so looking forward to the ABC upfront.

    ReplyDelete
  80. To me, the photo with the writters and Seamus´s tweet are the most strong indication of a cancelation, since Nathan´s tweet wasn´t related.
Anyway I voted unsure, but if I had to vote yes or no, I´d say yes - and altough I´m a huge fan, if this is the last season, I´ll be okay with that, it was a great run:)

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well, if it was renewed without Nathan or Stana or both, I´d stop watching, it just wouldn´t be the same!:(

    ReplyDelete
  82. Ah,i wasn't sure if it was sarcasm or not. I thought she was in another series that i didn't watch..

True, many actors take some time off after a series ends, especially if they were the lead and got paid well. But i know they also keep there eye out for another roll for hey are afraid of not getting another 'well paying' job (and if they aren't in their 20's) or another lead..

    ReplyDelete
  83. Sure, I don't think they will quit their career either. But it's much easier looking for a new job, if you aren't forced.
AFAIK the average income in California is about 100-120k per year. Nathan was a bigger name before (and has a much higher impact rate even now), but after Castle Stana is surely reached the "guest star" level, which means 25-50k per episode.

I always brings up Lisa Edelstein as an example, who after House was cancelled (and he left it even before!) plays in two-three different shows in a year (like Castle, LOL) and have plenty of jobs. There are more TV shows are in production than ever and somebody with a solid fandom who follows her everywhere is an asset.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I doubt if it's cancelled. Maybe they are just talking about season 7 ending

    ReplyDelete
  85. This makes the second ABC long running show to fizzle out and leave the air without proper announcements. Disappointing

    ReplyDelete
  86. I agree with it being cancelled. Nathan refused to show up to work on a Friday on season 6 and demanded to have Fridays off and the season before there were also rumors that he and Stana had had a fight on set, it was in the first half of season 5, and we can actually see their characters losing that great chemistry they used to have. When the cast went to the PaleyFest later that season they sat as far away from each other as they possibly could and didn't even say a word to each other, unlike the year before, which was very weird since that was the season when Castle and Beckett finally got together (which Nathan was always against) and they were promoting their relationship.
He's always so happy when he gets to guest star on other shows but then when he needs to promote his own show we can see that he's doing it only because it's an obligation that his contract forces on him and it has been for the last three seasons (5, 6, 7).
So, yes, I believe that he wants to move on from the show, and has had for years but couldn't because of his contract, so now that he can he won't let the chance pass.
This season has also been very, very bad, so I won't be upset if this is the last one. Might as well end it before it collapses for good, which at this point is not very far from happening.

    ReplyDelete
  87. As long as we get a proper ending - like Beckett becoming a captain herself and Castle... something, like getting to finally write James Bond! - I wouldn't mind.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Well, maybe it's me because I like having feith on humanity XD

    ReplyDelete
  89. Imagine them cancelling this and renewing Forever lmao

    ReplyDelete
  90. if the cast on Forever is more willing to do another season than the Castle cast why not?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Does Revenge count as long running with 4 seasons though?

    ReplyDelete
  92. yeah, if Forever can get at least 1.2 in Castle's time slot... 'cause staying on Fridays for a second season wouldn't work.
And yeah, they have max 2, 3 more seasons for Castle, if they go with Forever they have like 8 more seasons to work with.
But I'm guessing they're keeping Castle and cancelling Forever.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Only 4 seasons? I didn't even know how long it's been running. Seems like I've heard Revenge, over and over again for a lifetime.

    ReplyDelete
  94. g'ah---wut?

I don't really see the point here, the only reason Castle seems to be endangered is because the cast seems to be done (Nathan and Stana), not the network. If Nathan doesen't renew his contract for season 8 (wich is up to him and not ABC) they have two choices: go on without him and find a replacement writer with crime solving skills OR end the show on a high note rather than artificially dragging it out.

It's not the ratings that are the problem from the way I see it, it's that it appears like the people doing the show are done.

Not saying that Forever is doing well, just saying that if the cast is more willing to do another season of that show unlike on Castle then I'd say go for it. Both are charming unique crime dramas.

It's not like Forever would ever make it past 3 seasons anyway, wich isn't even the point here.

They can't hold a gun to Nathans head and force him to sign on if he doesen't want to (and frankly, I don't think that there's any room to play with the budget since they're seemingly very tight with it)

I don't know much about the background but reading through some of the articles it seems like that

  95. Same, it's been a very heavily reported show in the past. But it would only reach season 5 if renewed. It already got its 88 episode limit I think

  96. I wouldn't mind.

After Nina leaving TVD, I could see Stan actually feeling more comfortable to do the same, she has been very verbal about not wanting to stretch the show too long, and feeling that Kate's history seems dried out, saying that she could come back IF she felt there was something more to be told, But I don't think she really feels like there is, and I believe she's aiming on a movie career, which she could easily get going, more so than Nina, to be true.
And with Nathan, he has shown he's not happy with the show, he probably stayed with the show when the writers said that they would focus more on Castle, but after that silly PI story ran it's course, it pretty much went back to the way it was, and the so anticipated history of his vanishing simply disappeared in thin air for the whole season. So... He's probably fed up too! And if you count that Nathan has an amazing relationship with Marvel, he could get a more vital part in the movies anytime he wants.
I imagine they would be game for a TV Movie or a three part miniseries closing any open histories, including Castle's vanishing, and that's it.

  98. I know this isn't the right place to ask this question so sorry, but I have to ask it. What's the relationship between Nathan and Stana? I ask this because I've read a couple of contradictory articles saying that they can't stand each other, one article said they're together or were together, one said that Nathan made a huge scandal because his not the main star of the show and it's all about Stana's character.

I ask this because maybe it's true and they just can't stand each other anymore. I mean that would explain why it seems that this is the end for the show. I hope it's not like I said I like the show a lot and I hope we'll get at least one more season.
Again I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask this question.

  99. Forever probably costs less to make.
At the end of the day, one of the largest expenses for any production is the cast.
Each contract renewal costs more & more, and eventually shows casts just become too expensive to justify the expense. Its 1 of the reasons why its really rare for a show to make it past season 5, as that's when MOST shows 1st run contracts expire.

  100. "Forever probably costs less to make." Still wouldn't make it more appealing given it's rating. lol

  101. I do think people might be jumping the gun a bit with the naysaying. I swear Stana did the exact same thing in the past and we had this exact same conversation.

  102. I´d say since nor Nathan or Stana ever talked about it - and only them know for sure where their relationship stands - nobody really has a clue, everything posted is only a guess or rumour or whatever:)

  103. Just had an idea. Maybe the goodbye to the precinct is because Beckett makes Captain and gets transfered somwhere else? Or it gets blown up in the season finale? A new setting wouldn't be such a bad thing in my opinion.

  104. I think it's over, but I'm begging for nother season. I just LOVE CASTLE!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I see so pretty much only them and the people close to them know what's going on.
Personally I don't really care if they're together or were or whatever it's their lives.
But if it's true that they really don't get along, that would explain why Nathan or Stana or both would want to part ways. There's no point in continuing something that you don't like.

Ultimately I believe this boils down to money. Either Nathan or Stana or even both want a better offer. But who knows, we'll have to wait for an official announcement.
Thanks for the reply. If someone else has more info please share it.

  106. Comes down to: If the stars want to move forward to season 8, ABC will go with them, If the stars want to end it and move on, ABC will go with that also. The decision is in the hands of NF & SK.

  107. I won't be surprise if the show has ended (I won't say cancelled. Sorry). But those tweets can mean to the end of the season or the end of the show. It can go either way to be honest.

While I would love for the show to come back for one FINAL season to wrap things up nicely, I won't be surprise if the show ends this season.

    ReplyDelete
  108. But from way things are at the moment it's NF and SK decision to stay on or not - not the network's.

If ABC was really desperate, they would throw millions at them to get them to stay but I don't see ABC doing that to be honest.

That's what I thought too. It looks like it could be end of season stuff, rather than end of series.

  110. It makes me think they wrapped up the season not certain for a S8, but probably not expecting to be back.
It also makes the think they have concluded S7 as a series finale contingency.

    I voted for "Unsure" though...

Either no Nathan or Stania, no show Mac Lives!

  113. I'm not. Lol. I do look forward to watching the comedy trailers though.

  114. Haven't people been proposing a "shortened final season" for Castle for at least three seasons now? Since Day 1, people have been writing the show's epitaph at the slightest sign of trouble. Good grief. And IDK but don't a lot of lead actors have down-to-the-wire contract negotiations? It's not as if it's leave now or go another 8 years for Stana and Nathan.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I would like to believe that ABC meant what it said and wants it back. Castle will not come back if Nathan and Stana do not resign. Obviously these contract negotiations are going down to the wire. I would also not read into their tweets and pictures because as has been said they do this every season at the end. Castle makes ABC money in syndication, there is no reason they cannot get a raise in salary, if that is what its about, which I think is only part of it. They very well might be ready to move on to other things. ABC will make announcement about shows future in May
