Scene Of The Week - October 5, 2014 - POLL

5 Oct 2014

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently on TV.

BOARDWALK EMPIRE, "Cuanto", September 28, 2014, Actors: Patricia Arquette and more
The Scene: Sally Wheet is murdered by Cuban Soldiers (picked by Darth Locke)

BONES, "The Lance to the Heart", October 2, 2014, Actors: Emily Deschanel, Carla Gallo and more, The Scene: Sweets' send-off
Klutzy girl:
Brennan's speech was perfect and the "Lime in the Coconut" sing-along was fitting. I'm definitely going to miss Sweets but at least he'll be able to live on in the baby.

CASTLE, "Driven", September 29, 2014, Actors: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic
The Scene: Beckett visits Castle after he's found
Diana mack:
Castle has been found inconscious at the hospital. When Beckett goes to visit him and asks what happened in the past 2 months, Castle seems not to remember. Also picked by Jamie Coudeville

CHICAGO FIRE, "Wow Me", September 30, 2014, Actors: Jesse Spencer, Monica Raymund
The Scene: The Proposal
Ben Norton:
Dawson runs up the stairs and Casey proposes to her. She says yes. After the interruption to the proposal last season, it was great to see them finally get engaged.

DOCTOR WHO, "Kill the Moon", October 4, 2014, Actors: Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman, The Scene: Clara gets angry with the Doctor and leaves
Justyna Kubica:
In the end, in the episode that was all about the choice Clara had to make, it was the Doctor who got it wrong. Since his regeneration he hasn't been his old emotional self. There's a lot of his heart and care missing and it was getting harder and harder to accept it for Clara. In a very powerful and truly sad scene at the end of the episode, she's had enough. When she really needed the support of her friend, he chose to leave her to make a terrible choice all on her own, only to see that there's a very good chance it could be avoided and the Doctor could have known the truth all along. I honestly don't know how I feel about the Doctor and the entire situation at this point. But it was a very important scene, for sure. With beautiful performances by both actors. Clara and The Doctor's relationship is broken. Wonder how much it's going to take to fix it, or if that's even possible...
Sandi: Great performance from both Peter and Jenna in an otherwise so-so episode. The Doctor has judged something wrong in every episode so far, is this intentional? It will be interesting to see where things go from here with their relationship.

FOREVER, "Fountain of Youth", September 30, 2014, Actors: Ioan Gruffudd, Judd Hirsch, The Scenes: Abe on the skateboard & Abraham tells Henry he's worried about who will take care of him after he's gone
Bradley Adams:
Abe on the skateboard.
A Dahne: Abraham tells Henry he's worried about who will take care of him after Abraham's gone. This relationship is the whole heart of Forever and I love the twist that Abe is Henry's son. It gives them a unique dynamic and forms the foundation of the show.

GOTHAM, "Selina Kyle", September 29, 2014, Actor: Robin Lord Taylor
The Scene: Oswald's kidnapped victim's mother doesn't believe him
Sandi:
I'm loving Robin Lord Taylor's portrayal of the Penguin, he's absolutely fantastic!

GREY'S ANATOMY, "Puzzle With a Piece Missing", October 2, 2014, Actors: Ellen Pompeo, Kelly McCreary, The Scene: Maggie tells Meredith she's her half sister
Diana mack:
Finally Maggie Pierce reveals to Meredith that Ellis was her mother, so this makes her Meredith's half sister.

LEGENDS, "Iconoclast", October 1, 2014, Actors: Sean Bean and more, The Scene: The Saudi terrorists tell Martin they know who he is
Tonya Papanikolas:
The Saudi terrorists who have captured Martin tell him they know who he is. This was an unexpected twist. The whole time you thought the FBI was controlling the situation. But the terrorists knew Martin's legend was fake and knew who he really was. Just as Martin and the audience realize how much danger he's in, the last scene shows the bad guys going after his wife and son. It was a great surprise ending that made me eager for next week. Also picked by Sharon Seymour

NASHVILLE, "How Far Down Can I Go", October 1, 2014, Actors: Hayden Panettiere and more
The Scene: Juliette finds out the baby is Avery's
Klutzy girl:
It's the outcome I've wanted but her reaction made me emotional. Hopefully they'll work through their problems enough to be able to raise the baby and get back together.

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, "Carrier", September 30, 2014, Actors: Scott Bakula, Lucas Black and more, The Scene: The team takes a moment to relax
Ben Norton:
The team are relaxing, and cooking, whilst LaSalle is fishing. This scene showed the relationships within the NCIS: New Orleans team very well. It had that true NCIS feel.

ONCE UPON A TIME, "A Tale of Two Sisters", October 28, 2014, Actors: Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, The Scenes: Emma talks to Regina through the door & Regina saves Marian
Darth Locke:
Regina saves Marian.
Nirat Anop: Emma talks to Regina through the door whilst shes sitting on the ground with her back to the door and there's a split screen between the two rooms. It was one of my favorites and an awesome parallel to Frozen's Elsa and Anna and the song 'Do You Wanna Build a Snowman'. Also picked by Jamie Coudeville

PARENTHOOD, "Happy Birthday, Zeek", October 2, 2014, Actors: Craig T. Nelson, Mae Whitman and more, The Scenes: Amber and Zeek hug & The family celebrates Zeek's 72nd birthday
Ben Norton:
The family are singing and celebrating Zeek's 72nd birthday. This was a true Parenthood scene for me, it was very nice to see.
Francesco B: Amber and Zeek hug, after she revelead to him that she is pregnant. One of the most emotional scene of this season. Mae and Craig were stunning.

PERSON OF INTEREST, "Nautilus", September 30, 2014, Actors: Jim Caviezel and more, The Scenes: Reese asks the biker if the payphone works & Root and Finch talk about Claire & Finch takes Reese to the new lair
Justyna Kubica:
The team is officially back in action. I've missed this! Thanks to the Machine, Finch located a new safe haven for them to work in secret, the team's very own "Batcave". In this episode, he decides it's time to fight back and in the end he shows the abandoned subway repair line to Reese and Shaw. "So we push back." Yes! I love how this show never disappoints. Whatever happens, they just make things work. Can't wait for what's next.
Bradley Adams: Reese asks the biker if the payphone works, before hitting him in the face with it and uttering "Yep, works just fine." Also picked by DarkUFO
Darth Locke: Root tells Finch that Claire is like her, but instead is for Samaritan.
Sharon Seymour: Finch takes Reese to the new lair.

RED BAND SOCIETY, "Liar, Liar Pants on Fire", October 1, 2014, Actors: Octavia Spencer, Wilson Cruz, The Scene: Kenji asks Jackson why she is torturing herself with Kara
A Dahne:
Kenji asks Jackson why she is torturing herself with Kara after she melts down. I love the Nurse Jackson character, mostly because they allow us to see the softer side of her as well. She's nicely rounded as a character and having her co-workers know this too is a plus. Here I like how she admits that she is trying to see the good in a patient because she can't accept the guilt that would come if something happened to them because she hated them.

RESURRECTION, "Revelation", September 28, 2014, Actors: Kurtwood Smith, Michelle Fairley
The Scene: Henry and Margaret reunite
Pablozky21:
I wasn't completely sure if I was sold into Resurrection during the first season, but after a mostly strong season premiere I think the show deserves to be watched; the scene in which Henry's mother Margaret is gardering and then she reunites with Henry is incredibly powerful; Kurtwood Smith and Michelle Fairley dominated the scene and they successfully brought me to tears in what's one of the best mother and son reunion I have seen on television. It was just a wonderful scene.

REVENGE, "Renaissance", September 28, 2014, Actors: Emily VanCamp, Madeleine Stowe and more, The Scenes: Nolan and Emily's phone call at the end & Victoria shows up at her former manor & Victoria is kidnapped by David & Victoria escapes from the looney bin
Pablozky21:
Revenge started the season with what's probably its strongest season premiere to date- which makes its ratings all the more soul crushing. Victoria wasn't going to be committed in the mental institution for long, so we knew this was coming, but it was so delightful and so over the top that it exceeded my wildest expectations. She puts every piece into place like chess and she even sacrifices a friend on the way, Greyson style. There were so many great scenes in the episode that it was hard to choose, but this one is the one that brought me most pleasure. Revenge is back, baby!
Francesco B: Nolan and Emily's phone call at the end of the episode. Their friendship is one of the best aspect of the show.
Samy Bgs: The last scene with Victoria being kidnapped by David.
Adil Daoumer: Victoria shows up at her former manor where Emily is now living to tell her that now, she'll be the one seeking revenge.

SCANDAL, "The State of the Union", October 2, 2014, Actors: Bellamy Young, Tony Goldwyn
The Scenes: Mellie breaks down & Fitz's speech
Klutzy girl:
After pulling herself together for Fitz's speech, Mellie falls apart as soon as it's over. Bellamy knocked that scene out of the park, and you can really tell the pain Mellie's in.
Diana mack: Same. Bellamy was supreme!
Samy Bgs: Fitz's speech with Mellie being there. Also picked by Jamie Coudeville

SCORPION, "Single Point of Failure", September 29, 2014, Actors: Ari Stidham, Elyes Gabel and more, The Scene: Sylvester in the bio-hazard lab (picked by Bradley Adams)

SLEEPY HOLLOW, "The Kindred", September 29, 2014, Actors: Tom Mison, Katia Winter and more, The Scenes: Ichabod comes to save Katrina but she chooses to stay & Monster mash fight & Ichabod disapproval of credits cards
Justyna Kubica:
I always enjoy these little moments with Ichabod and Katrina. We don't get to see them together too often. Even though I wish Katrina left with Crane (I'd love to see the scenes where they both try to figure out the modern world!), I understand her reasons not to. Hopefully her spying Death and Henry will actually cause some good for our team. Also I like the fact that she wants to at least try to save Jeremy, even if it seems like a lost cause at this point. Katrina has been quite a mystery from the beginning of the show, so I can't wait to see more of her and her current storyline has a nice potential. To sum up, it was such a bittersweet moment for Katrina and Ichabod. Lovely, emotional, yet really tragic, just like their story. Maybe there's a chance for more hope for them in the future episodes. Fingers crossed.
Pablozky21: Ichabod disapproval of credits cards- Humor is an essential ingridient of Sleepy Hollow's success, the way they introduce Ichabod's discomfort with our modern life style is a big part on why I love this show so much. To see him fighting against credits cards in the bank was probably one of my favorite moments of the week, the one that made me laugh the hardest.
A Dahne: Monster mash fight. Sleepy Hollow does cool looking villains so well and when they were all of screen fighting it was magnificent. I really love the addition of the Knight of War.

STALKER, "Pilot", October 1, 2014, Actors: Maggie Q, Erik Stocklin, The Scene: Beth confronts Perry & The end scene
Nirat Anop:
Beth follows Perry to his car, kicks the back of his leg and uses her high heel shoe to hold his hand down (in true Nikita style) then tells him to "stay away from Eric" and slaps his face. He threatens to report her and she quickly responds "for what, stalking a stalker?, a punk ass little twit like you, I can lie better than you and they'd believe me, they always do". Maggie Q's new character was different to Nikita but she had moments of being an absolute bad ass it made Nikita fans smile.
Tonya Papanikolas: The end scene: The young man who has been stalking his roommate shows up at Beth's house to watch her. This was creeee-eeepy! She thought that intimidating him to stay away would get rid of him - and instead it turned his attention to her. The way the camera shot him out the window was great. Plus, the guy was really creepy and knowing that she's already had some kind of traumatic stalking experience in her past made this all the much worse! (But it also set up interesting story for the show.)

THE BRIDGE, "Jubilex", October 1, 2014, Actors: Demián Bichir, Ramón Franco
The Scene: Marco arrests Fausto
DarkUFO:
Marco arrests and brings Fausto into the station for booking into the cell.

THE STRAIN, "Last Rites", September 28, 2014, Actors: David Bradley, Mía Maestro and more, The Scenes: Flashback scene of Setrakian cutting out his wife's heart & Nora has to kill her mother & Setrakian fights to climb out of the well
Tonya Papanikolas:
Flashback scenes of Setrakian cutting out his wife's heart. We finally learn whose vampire heart is in the jar Setrakian keeps. I loved his prayer - always wanting to remember what happened so deaths like his wife's won't be in vain. These scenes made you realize how much Setrakian has lost. Sometime he seems callous and hardened to personal feelings - but he's obviously struggled with his own loss and sadness.
Sharon Seymour: Setrakian fights to climb out of the well that Thomas Eichhorst has tricked and trapped him in.
DarkUFO: Nora has to kill her own mother after she has turned.

  1. I was too late to send in my scenes of the week, and I haven't watched half the episodes yet. But that NCIS scene with Vance in the hospital would be one of my picks. Beautiful scene, and very nice to see Vance and his daughter in such an emotional moment. I also loved the references to Jackie and Kayla saying she's the woman of the house now made me smile. I'm very glad Vance is not having anything serious.

  5. The Bridge, Marco arrests Fausto, especially the part where they are sitting in the cell next to each other while waiting for Fausto to be booked. He looked over at Marco while Marco looked straight ahead. Marco ended up the hero after all!

Wow, summer hiatus is well and truly over, it's great to see so many shows back on again :)

  7. Agents of SHIELD - Mack helps out Fitz.

It was really great to see Fitz interact with someone (other than hallucinating Simmons).
Really hope to see a friendship form there between the two because they make a great team. Their scenes struck a chord with me.

Scandal - Mellie breaks down after the State of the Union Address.

Bellamy was absolutely mesmerizing in this episode and when she broke down was just gut wrenching. You can feel her pain through the screen. Powerful stuff.

Person of Interest - Finch takes Reese to the new lair.

The team is finally back with a new and improved lair! Can't wait to see what happens next.

Once Upon a Time - Emma talks to Regina through the door.

Emma telling Regina that it's her job to bring back happy endings to Storybrooke was really heartwarming. And I loved how the scene paralleled to "Frozen". So cool!

  12. I think the final scene of Castle was better than their reunion in the hospital. The family toast was great but the bedroom scene where Kate breaks down and Castle apologizes to her was one of the most sincere scenes from the whole series. It really defined their relationship. I voted for payphone scene with Reese. That biker got TKO'ed by that payphone xD

  13. Totally agree!:)

  16. I added an other to my votes too. To use Dan's words -"Jamie stood up for Walsh by schooling one of his own." in Blue Bloods. Fantastic scene.
