  1. I felt like this was more of an emotional episode especially that poor blonde hair who was bleeding very badly.

Also, I'm glad Mrs. Reddington is safe but I also think there might be a dark side to her. I hope it doesn't because she and Red may have great chemistry.

    Overall, I'm satisfied with Season 2! :)

  2. Maybe not an awesome episode, but a lot of fun and a little insight into the past as well!

I enjoyed this episode a lot. It has a bit of a different feel to it than most last year... Deeper. more personal. Thankfully, Jennifer/ Naomi is out of Berlin's clutches!

    What we learned:
    - Red's wife and daughter entered Witness Protection in 1990 and WitSec lost contact with the daughter 7 years ago (2007-ish). She is unaccounted for.
    - Assuming Red is telling the truth (and I think he is), Red did not kill Berlin's daughter. As I mused at the end of last season Red is being set up. Berlin is likely not his true nemesis, but someone being used by his nemesis to cause Red pain and distract him.
    - Liz has a guardian angel that informed her that Berlin kept his money in Monarch Douglas Bank.
Did Liz make an educated guess or is there a legitimate outside source... Could said "angel" be Tom?

So far I'm loving Season 2 as much as Season 1 and that is saying something

  3. Great episode!

I'm kinda surprised Naomi was released from Berlin so quickly but I'm just happy that she's protected. Also, that look on her face in the last shot of the episode was very interesting. Is she hiding something more?

Berlin has gotten away yet again and the war between him and Reddington is definitely not over. I like the theory that Reddington is being set up by another party. It makes sense considering he's admitted to not killing Berlin's daughter.

Liz keeping some information to herself like not telling Red how she knew that Berlin's assets were stored at the Monarch bank was surprising considering she usually tells Red everything. The FBI is certainly not happy with Reddington.

Samar Navabi and Reddington are working together? Hmmmm, what are you two up to? I'm really intrigued on where they are going with this.

  4. Hmm.. looks like my comment disappeared. Odd.

  5. great ep... nice to see that the ex Mrs Reddington has a bit of fight in her as well and interesting development with the Mossad agent joining the team at Red's manipulations and curious to see where that will go

  6. i wonder how long it will be until ressler tells liz if ever that he's not doing okay, i wonder who her source is and i'm turning around on red's wife i like her a little bit now, yeah she got caught again but at least she was smart in her attempted escape

  8. I voted awesome, I think every episode was awesome. I glad Red managed to get His wife back in an otherwise bleak situation. However I will say I liked the idea of Liz working out ares had Berlin's money much more when thought it was just intelligent deducing rather then being told the information. Also in return I would have addumedbRed would think Tombwasnt dead and had become Lizzie's source straight away? But I may be wrong on both acc

  10. Great episode. Very character driven, very personal and at the end very emotional.

-I have to say that even if it's only been two episodes, I can't help but notice how different, more mature, more aware is Liz. I really like the direction the writers are taking this character and the revelation at the end of the episode that she may have her own source really intrigues me.

-I LOVED what Berlin said about Red:
"You had the power to destroy me but you're blinded by passion" implying that his desire to pretect the things he loves most (Liz and his wife) is what makes him vulnerable. And he was right.

    - Red's wife was surprisingly (not really) clever and skilled, I'm sure there's a lot more we don't know about this character. We're talking about Red's wife here, she must be special somehow.

-Red, the FBI, Samar Navabi. This is gonna be a gas, just to quote Red. I love Samar's character.

    - Ressler's storyline is still uneventful. Quite predictable till now.

Overall a solid and entertaining episode.
Oh I almost forgot, MR KAPLAN! I need more of her.

  11. I wouldn't be surprised if Naomi knows where her daughter is, 1. Because I think there is more to her character (secretive) 2. I find it hard to imagine a mother not knowing where her daughter is or not knowing and being completely calm about it.

  12. I personally think you could be right about Liz's source being Tom, however my friend believes the source could be Mr Kaplan.

  13. Interesting, I had not considered Mr. Kaplan...
I'm not sure either makes complete sense, but I guess Tom fits a little better in my mind. Although it does not need to be one of those two at all of course.....

  14. And she used a sharpened bone to escape!

How appropriate is that considering the legend of Berlin escaping his Russian gulag by using a sharpened bone...

  15. Another excellent episode which on the face of it answers some questions but in true Blacklist style actually raises more than it answers.

Where is Red's daughter? is she alive? missing? and if she is alive then just who exactly is it that Red seems to be missing?

Who told Berlin it was Red who killed his daughter and Why?

Why is Mr. Kaplan called Mr. Kaplan? ok so that one is just for me.

What they're doing brilliantly is giving us more info every episode but doing it in such a way that we're still no closer to figuring anything out, if they continue on this line and when they do reveal the answers the little clues we've been given all add up, then they'll have manged something really exceptional.

I can see Red and Berlin teaming up to take down this common foe but i see it as simply a means to an end and once they've done that i see Red taking Berlin out, Mr, Reddington is just not that forgiving.

Spader as usual rocked and my favorite scene this week was his whole exchange with Mr. Kaplan (a character that is absolutely amazing being the complete opposite of what you'd expect), the whole snapping and then apologising, followed by almost motherly advice which was then followed by Red killing the guy he'd only wounded earlier, was just amazing, incredible acting all around.

I'd love to see the backstory between Red and Mr. Kaplan and see just exactly how it is these 2 came together but i could also see why not showing it would work probably even better,

Also gotta love Red being behind the mossad agent working with the team now, he's like a chess grandmaster always 2 0r 3 steps ahead of the rest of us.

  16. This series has super writers and I am loving it. This season is even better than last year and that is saying something. Would not want to get on Red's bad side. ;)

  17. I am always happy, happy, happy to see Mr. Kaplan.

  18. I voted Awesome. Better episode than S2E1. The exchange between Berlin and Red was epic - though I wish I could understand him better. Producers, please lighten his accent a bit. I also think the guys is overacting. #thanks.

Did anyone else notice the extra long kiss on the lips Red gave the pastry/gun shop lady? Awesome.

Red is definitely doing the Mossad agent.

Liz looked super hot in a couple scenes last night. Who knew the hair could make all the difference in the world.

Anyone else thought that Red's reaction to getting his wife back seemed odd? It was as if he did not know how to react or what to do when she was walking toward him.

Mr. Kaplan's name is Kate? Love it.

I thought the whole formula/bank thing was fascinating. Great job intertwining this weeks "blacklister" into the current storyline with Mrs. Reddington/Berlin.

Someone is going to die because Ressler has popped too many pills and cannot save their life. Book it.

Thankfully lots of information is coming out about Red these first two weeks.

  19. It was a great episode. I enjoyed that there was a lot more scenes with Red than in the previous episode. The dialog between him and Berlin was fanstastic and I loved the very short scene between him and Liz in the end.

I am fairly sure that Red was telling the truth, when he said he did not kill Berlin´s daughter. Could Liz be Berlin´s daughter, maybe she was never killed.

I wonder who Liz´s informant is? My guess is Tom (as it seems most likely that it is somebody we know), but I hope it isn´t. I would love that Liz´s actions (to set Tom free) come back and bite her in ass.

Mr. Kaplan....I want to know more....

Always loved Mary-Louise Parker on Weeds. It is sooo strange to see her in something else. I kept waiting for her to act as Nancy would if she was held hostage. :-)

It doesn't have to be... but I thought about Tom, as well. Btw. what does it say about our Keen profiler if she needs to have a source in order to figure out something as simple as the fact that Red was after Berlin's accounts when he gave her the case.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ha! XD
    So true, isn't it?

I guess on this show even profilers and experienced agents need to get their information from Red or it's an outside source to him....

  22. I cannot be the only one bothered by the mistakes. Red's backstory with his family is incredibly underwhelming considering what we learned in season 1. Wasn't his family murdered?

    ReplyDelete
  23. We never actually heard any details about the death or disappearance of his family...
    - In 1x01 "Pilot" we heard he went home to see his wife and daughter for Christmas, but never arrived. He then disappeared for 4 years.
    - in 1x14 "Madeline Pratt" Red tells her the story of coming home and seeing blood everywhere, but nothing about a body or dead family members.

A few times Red has talked about knowing loss, but again... no details on what he lost. Losing his family could mean not seeing them for 20 years... not necessarily that they are dead.

That said, I personally assumed the wife and daughter were likely dead. At least one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh they definitely wanted people to think his family was dead. I think Red wanted people to think they were dead as well as a form of protection.

There may have been some others I'm forgetting, but as far as I recall every comment about his family was deliberately vague and incomplete.

There were a lot of hints at the mystery girl being dead and some (myself included) thought she was Red's daughter, but of course it turned out she was Berlin's daughter.

Red did imagine his preteen daughter a couple of times too. Once she was playing in the yard of his old family home (1x07 - Frederick Barnes) and another time she was dancing in the ballet (1x16 - Mako Tanida) Red sponsors. As she dances we hear the voice over of Red talking to Ressler about loss. It made me think his daughter was dead at least.

Honestly though, I'm a little underwhelmed that is wife was just in WitSec as well. I know there is more to the story and the daughter has been out of contact for 7 years (maybe she is dead?), but the reveal of his wife still being alive was definitely underwhelming to me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yup, that's the issue for me, they made such a mystery about his family that I expected some MAJOR reveals :/

  26. This show just keeps on getting better and better! There is definitely a lot of questions floating around in my head at the moment! The promo for next week looks great.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Part of it for me was the fact I spoilered myself a bit. I knew Mary Louise Parker was going to guest star and that her role was directly linked to Red. So I assumed she was his ex lover or wife.

Had I not known ahead of time it may have been different. Not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  28. No kidding. Isn't that her specialty? Plus, it was obvious. then Plus, Red gave her the big clue about the manicurist being a trained doctor, which created a bunch of false drama in the closing quarter. Seriously, either Red did that to test Liz (would she let a real person - Naomi - die or "stop" Berlin and potential deaths) or the writers are getting lazy and/or needed extra scenes to fill the hour.

Exactly! I took it for granted that she made an educated guess, but her reaction to Red's remark about the information coming from a source seems to indicate that he was spot on. Just when I thought somebody on the show finally remembered that they have introduced her to us as a profiler...
