Teen Wolf - Monstrous - Recap / Review and Episode Awards

1 Sept 2014

NOTE:  If you've come looking for answers, I am fresh out.  Baffled is an understatement.  This week's season's Teen Wolf plot has me like:

Previously - Peter was a crazy vengeful loon, Kate burnt down the Hale House, Peter was in a coma, Stiles was a liar, Malia walked out, Granny Banshee drove Meredith insane, CrazyPants Douche Orderly died naming Meredith as Benefactor, and Meredith did NOT die.

Sometime in monsoon season, yet another new young blond runs from assassins at Beacon Hills High at night. She may be smarter than IED's Blonde Idiot, but is that really saying much? In true horror fashion, she trips and falls. Good thing Tall Prep Blond is there to help her. Yeah, him again. He gets winged by an arrow for his trouble while New Dumb Blonde runs for the lacrosse field, where all bad guys have a key to the stadium lights. At least 6 assassins train laser sights on them so TPB tells her to close her eyes. With the cold opens this year I expect their demise, but nope. Kick Butt Kira to the rescue - she slices arrows while the two blonds run. It is refreshing to see Kira so competent. May it continue the next 2 episodes. She evidently calls Scott as he rounds up Liam for the assist. One small hitch: Liam is in no way putting his life on the line again. Liam: "More assassins?" Right there with you, buddy. They've come out of the woodwork these days. Scott realizes his kid beta is fittingly scared and takes time from people saving to reassure him. Liam: "I mean how are you all still alive?" No one knows. Scott: "Not all of us are." Ouch! That hurts but I love how they aren't glossing over significant deaths this season. Scott stops to take Liam home causing most fans to aww but for me it slows the story. Mama McCall, however, tries to slow Stiles, whom I guess was concussed last episode although there's no physical sign of trauma. Not eve a bruise. Mama: "The doctor said you're not leaving without a CT scan." Stiles: "We still haven't paid for the last one." Sigh. She tries reason next. Meredith isn't talking yet so it's a standoff. Mama: "Even if I let you go, what would you do?" Stiles subsides but not before sending her on a scavenger hunt for a cassette player after they debate the difference between tapes and cassettes. For the record, tapes in Mama McCall and my generation usually means VCR tapes, thus the clarification. Stiles pulls out CrazyPants DoucheOrderly's cassette of Granny Banshee and methinks there's more to this whole thing. Or it's more filler. Take your pick.

At the police station, they also make zero progress so Kira, 2. Everyone else, 0. Lydia: "What did she say?" Sheriff: "Hard to tell. There were words. I'm not sure there were actual sentences." That's never a good sign. Sheriff: "I think we need a psychologist…or a medium." Lydia questions if Meredith is competent to answer. I question if Lydia has a concussion too. I agree with Sheriff. "This girl's practically a criminal mastermind." Oh I hope it's true Sheriff, since Meredith's the most intriguing character this season. She got Kate to open the vault, allied with CrazyPants, made a hit list, and arranged wire transfers. All from Eichen House. There has to be more than 2 players here. Lydia looks for motive, but Sheriff's more interested in stopping the money flow so no one else dies. As long as they continue teaming up Lydia and Sheriff, I'm good. Over at Deaton's, Scott and Kira share "missed you" kisses. MamaFox is better, so Kira's back to save the day. She brought the remains of Satomi's pack, who created a small army judging by the numbers. So where were they when Deucalion arrived? Together they'd have defeated him in no time and spared us Demon Wolf monologues and Derek torture. Alas this many people also means a high risk of discovery so time to move. Lydia's too busy sleeping at the precinct the morning Sheriff should have bullet removal surgery. Thought I forgot, didn't you Jeff? Sheriff isn't happy, but she won't budge without answers. Lydia: "Did they get anything out of her?" Sheriff: "Should have gone with the medium." Ha! CrazyPants' office is a bust too. Lydia wants to talk to Meredith but for once Sheriff says no, since she's a civilian and Meredith may be a criminal mastermind. Sadly he gives in and I wonder exactly how long it takes morphine to wear off. Is he still high? Lydia blames it all on CrazyPants while I scream at her not to trust Meredith, who's more fun evil. Meredith wants to help but will only talk to one person…Peter Hale. Suddenly my theory about Peter and an evil cabal rise from the cold, dead ashes of last week's arson for hire plot. If Peter's your go-to guy, you have to be evil.

Meanwhile at the hospital, Mama McCall pauses the scavenger hunt to bring Stiles….Malia. Good to see you before half the episode is over this time. They awkwardly recap last night's Benefactor horror stories before uncomfortable silence sets in. Malia is all matter of fact before heading out. Right until she finds the door locked. Hmmm. Is Mama McCall playing matchmaker all of a sudden? That's out of character. Malia: "I could break it." Stiles: "How about you not? Already owe this hospital enough money." Ha and oh how sad! Just when I thought things couldn't get more agonizing, Stiles takes a page from Allison's book and talks about Mama McCall but really means himself. Yes, it is as excruciating as it sounds. Suffice to say Stiles apologizes in such a roundabout manner a race track might be forming in that hospital room. Malia: "I don't have much practice in things like forgiveness. Some things I'm picking up fast, but other things are like…" Stiles: "Like math?" Malia: "I hate math." Stiles: "Do you hate me?" Malia: "I like you, Stiles. I like you a lot." Stiles: "Yeah, I can work with that." They mack too so we should get back to the story in 3, 2…what the heck? The hospital door opens by itself. Does season 5 revolve around the Ghost Shipper of Beacon Hills Memorial? I'm nixing that right now! Pour salt and burn the whole place to ash. Stiles leaves the hospital to track down the elusive cassette player in its natural habitat, his room. I give up on Beacon Hills teens. Malia and he listen to Granny confront CrazyPants about taping her and refusing to return to Eichen House since she knows he'll kill her. Malia and Stiles ponder where the tape takes place, but it's pretty obvious it’s the lake house if only to get their money's worth from that set. Finally Malia recognizes the record playing in the background. I guess that time with Lydia was fruitful. Granny was there when she predicted the dead pool list so maybe something there can stop it. Off to the lake house, they go.

Enter Argent kicking assassin butt. He finds a stash of weed…er, yellow wolfsbane(?), and glares at it before heading to the family factory where he stores the fancy flower in his safe. Yeah, that can't be good. Please don't be shady, Argent. I like you. He's startled midway by footprints in the dust and almost shoots Scott when a stray arrow comes his way. Maybe it's Allison's ghost because there's no explanation as to where it came from, just Scott playing interference with an irate Tall Prep Blond. Argent: "Scott if you're bringing guests, you could have called." Rude much, Scott. Satomi has past issues with Argent so it gets awkward once again. Scott intervenes but it's natural to be skittish when hunters are on your butt. Argent says they aren't hunters now that they are getting paid, but they probably are lying in wait to attack. So more good news then. Kira: "So we're not safe here." Satomi: "We're not safe anywhere." In Beacon Hills? Imagine that. Argent reminds Scott that he's the biggest dead pool target, but Scott has faith it will work out based on all those other plans that worked so well I'm sure. The pack prepares for a battle while Satomi's group trepidates. How did they survive without fighting skills of their own? Derek: "They've got claws and fangs but they're not fighters." Scott: "That's why I called you." Derek reminds Scott that he's pretty much human now, so Braden steps up as extra muscle. Kira: "Am I the only one still hoping this is all just a false alarm?" Oh Kira, stop talking and just yield a sword. It's better for everyone. Tall Prep Blond interrupts to be the voice of doom and gloom. You can die anytime now, sir. No new blonds. To counter the spirit of despair, Derek channels his inner Independence Day rallying cry. "Then let's send a message. Let's make tonight perfectly clear to anyone with a copy of that list. It doesn't matter if they're professional assassins, hunters, or an amateur who just picked up a gun. Anyone who thinks they can hunt and kill us for money is going to be put on another list, our list. They get to be a name on our dead pool." Derek, you are so much more awesome now that you are human. Can we keep you this way?

Back at the precinct, Peter is unimpressed by Meredith. Lydia reminds him that Meredith is a banshee, whatever that means, and I still hope she's a crazy smart villain. Peter not so much. "Oh I think that girl's pilot light went out a long time ago. Sheriff, not to question the unquestionably sterling reputation of your department, but are you absolutely sure you got the one?" Ha! I wouldn't take a Beacon Hills cop's word as gospel myself these days. Sheriff finds it less funny, so Peter starts the interrogation asking about his money. Peter, always with the priorities. Meredith just stares while dramatic music wails. She touches his face and I'm surprised Parrish/Peter doesn't stop her, but when Peter grabs Meredith's arm, Parrish jumps right in. Double standard much. As far as you know, Meredith is the Benefactor and far more dangerous than she appears. Still Peter isn't completely innocent because Meredith remarks on his burns being gone as an on-looking Lydia gasps. Peter goes on the offensive, calling Meredith out for putting his daughter and nephew on the list. It's very creepy to hear Peter call Malia his daughter. Let's not ever again. Meredith: "You said it had to be kept secret." Either Peter has been taking acting lessons from Mama McCall or he's genuinely confused. "Meredith, allow me to remind you yet again, we have never met. Ever." Meredith: "You don't remember?" Peter: "No, but maybe you do." He claws Meredith at the base of the neck and enters her memories. For some reason, I thought that only worked on werewolves but I guess not. They should have done that with some of the other supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills. Lydia races in and tells Sheriff and Parrish not to separate them or it could kill them both. Instead she leans in and interprets Meredith's rambling.

It all starts with Meredith's ears bleeding in the White Room, reminiscent to when she made Lydia's ears bleed at Eichen House. She's rushed to Beacon Hills Memorial, the oldest looking 11/14/16 year old ever. (The paperwork says she was born in 1998 but entered the hospital on 12/10/09. Even if the year is written first she'd be 14, when it clearly says she's 16. Makes no sense. She's also diagnosed with acute insomnia. I'd have gone with stroke.) Because even then the hospital couldn't afford private rooms, Meredith lies beside Peter, who is 38. (Again say what? In Visionary he's no more than a few years older than Derek, making Derek a very well-preserved 35 year old. At least the doctor confirms Peter'd be dead if not a werewolf.) Then Lydia says they were in the hospital together right after the fire, confirming Teen Wolf currently takes place in 2016 since the fire was 7 years ago. Oh forget it. Absolutely nothing makes sense this in episode, especially the timeline. Lydia: "Meredith could hear him." Sheriff: "Hear what?" Lydia: "Everything." Poor girl. Trapped in Peter's mind? No wonder she went insane. Meredith listened to Peter's unconscious rantings for weeks, as his stream of consciousness raving went straight into her brain and let's just say Peter was not in a good place. He blamed Talia for the fire because he felt she made them weak. "And what happens to the weakest in the herd? They get picked off by predators. We used to be the apex predators until Talia turned us into sheep." He wanted revenge and unconsciously created the dead pool plan, complete with hiring assassins with his bearer bonds. "I will obliterate the weak and remake the supernatural of Beacon Hills in my image." It's terrifying. He even goes so far as to suggest assassins, like Malia's mom, and then branching out to amateurs. "When it comes down to it, everyone can be corrupted by money." Just spit balling here but I bet Malia's mom is coming back since they keep mentioning her and Stiles is definitely taking Blond Assassin's blood money to pay bills.

Peter releases Meredith, falling to the ground himself while Parrish catches Meredith. For reasons I don't get, Sheriff pulls a gun on him. Peter: "Are you kidding me?" I second that. You can blame Peter for a lot of things but this isn't one of them. If it's true, it not only sucks out loud but it's as anticlimactic as it gets. A crazy person heard another crazy person's thoughts and did crazy things. Hmm, glad no one wasted too much time thinking up this plot. No wonder logic moved to greener pastures. Lydia: "It was your idea and you don't even remember." I'd forget too, though it's the only plan on Teen Wolf that actually worked. Go figure. They continue blaming him, but Peter's the only one making sense. "How the hell was I supposed to remember any of that?" Agreed until he says, "She was listening to the ranting and raving of a lunatic…a former lunatic. I'm much healthier now." Bwah! Um Peter, you still put the cray in crazy. Don't push it. He continues to plead his case, scoffing at the idea that he'd steal his own money. Valid point, but Sheriff is obviously still hopped up on "we postponed your bullet removal surgery" meds and isn't thinking straight. It's up to Lydia to figure things out. She decides Meredith wants 3 dead pool listers in the same room with Peter so he can kill them all and fulfill his raving. Peter: "Lydia's right. We don't want to kill each other." Sheriff: "The only person I'm pointing a gun at is you." Peter: "Then you better make it a perfect shot, Sheriff, because I don't go down easy." Sheriff: "Well I'm willing to bet that a bullet between the eyes doesn't heal real fast, not even for your kind." Whatever Sheriff's on, flush it because rational thinking left awhile ago. Lydia agrees and tells him to stand down. Peter: "This department is getting more corrupt by the second. What are you going to charge me with, Sheriff?" Ha! Good point. Finally Sheriff lowers the gun after more coaxing by Lydia. Peter walks out once Sheriff finishes spewing empty threats his way. Meredith however is completely unhinged by this turn of events, screaming that it isn't finished yet.

In the White Room, Stiles is equally upset as the record player isn't enlightening to non-banshees either. "Come on. There's plenty other things we can be totally useless doing." Ha! He turns it off but Malia still hears sound. No idea why she didn't hear it when they were with Lydia, but whatever. Stiles notices a wire in the wall and yanks the cord through the dry wall. (Mission accomplished - the lake house will live to be a teen rave again as buyers flee the damage.) He and Malia remove the drywall to reveal…a 70's computer. Face palm doesn't do it justice. Guess they built them better back in then; mine becomes obsoleter and stops running after a few years of constant use. Perhaps Science Mom must sell the place because she can't afford the constant electricity bill anymore. Malia's solution is to punch it and to be honest that usually works for her. Sadly Stiles says no because they need to shut it off to ensure the dead pool list is over. That makes zero sense. It's on a trillion pieces of printer paper. No putting that genie back in its bottle. He proposes another cipher key to shut it down, but Malia suggests a real key. Time for Lydia's help. Stiles shows her Granny's room size machines via phone but Lydia's stymied since it has no monitor. Good thing she sees the carpet. Yes, the carpet. Sigh. There's no wine stain anymore. I give Mason a mental high 5 for making good on his promise, but Lydia freaks. Stiles is baffled as well. "What does wine have to do with anything?" Lydia: "Red wine doesn't just disappear." Um, neither does any red liquid on white carpet, not without major effort. Cleaning nightmare in 2 words - Hawaiian Punch. Lydia: "The ashes weren't ashes. The study isn't a study. The record player isn't a record player. So maybe the wine wasn't wine." Say what? And shouldn't you have noticed the missing stain last time you were there. At least we now know Lydia had the $500 she gave CrazyPants to hire cleaners. Glad she doesn't regularly carry that much cash on her. She sends Stiles on a wine scavenger hunt, which is far less fun than it sounds.

Meanwhile at Camp Argent, everything's muted with a tornado-green tinted filter. No idea why. Argent and Satomi talk away from the others and he asks about the pack motto - the sun, the moon, the truth - which Satomi says helps them stay in control. "The truth for me is that we, my kind, are violent creatures, who eventually will not be able to control our violent impulses. The mantra helps us subdue our nature." Argent: "But you're still violent creatures." Satomi: "Aren't we all?" Another reference that Scott will kill this season? No time to ponder because the assassins are here and it's time for ACTION. Yippee! I missed you, old friend. A heavily armed SWAT team enters, throwing smoke bombs and shooting assault weapons. Game on. Argent takes first line as Derek comes out shooting too. Kira goes ninja warrior on some plastic sheeting while Scott plays ring-around-the-rosie with claws. It's all a lot more kick butt than that sounds - what with the strobe lighting and gunfire and banging. Best yet are the pairings as Derek and Braeden take out bad guys back-to-back, and Satomi and Argent clear out another section together. A bullet-strewn Scott tells Tall Prep Blond to get his pack to safety and then goes back in the fray to find Kira. Since no one dies on either side, it's a standoff. Luckily Stiles wins the wine scavenger hunt and asks Malia for a "wine opener". Oh Stiles. Since Malia's the only one common sense has left, she slams the bottle down. Stiles is lucky he doesn't damage his hand and end up in the hospital again as he casually puts his entire palm in broken glass to retrieve the key hidden in it. By the way I question Blond Assassin's intelligence, since he drank a bottle of wine with something rattling in it. (FYI - At this point my eyes officially go on strike and refuse to roll anymore, protesting this episode as cruel and unusual punishment.)

As music swells, Stiles dramatically turns the key and...psych - it's back to Camp Argent. New Dumb Blonde actually proves to be less brainy than Blonde Idiot, when she calls Tall Prep Blond's name in the middle of the SWAT Assassin strike. Way to get lost from the group and then let all the bad guys know exactly where you are, honey. Face Palm becomes Head Desk over and over again. Just die already. Alas Scott is a hero and slams into SWAT Assassin, wailing on him over and over again. Yikes! Scott isn't playing. With each claw swipe his werewolf face looks more and more like Deucalion, an alpha monster of nightmare level. Just as he's about to deliver a death blow, he stops. Blood pours from the assassin's mouth as he obviously pleads for his life, but it's the sound of a text message that turns Scott back to his normal werewolf self. In the middle of all this intense action that makes me laugh. (Shakes head and in Stiles' voice says, "Kids.") The SWAT assassins stop firing and withdraw, leaving their buddy behind. Classy. Scott picks up Left Behind's phone and shows him the text. "The Benefactor: all contracts terminated." Um, huh? Back to Stiles and Malia for clarification as the 70's computer stops running. Are you telling me it is compatible with the latest smart phones? Say what? Oh, I give up. I'm calling Granny 2000 the Benefactor and leaving it at that. Malia and Stiles exchange, "What the heck?" looks while Scott gives the warehouse serious side eye. They don't get it either. Luckily Kira funnels everyone's frustration at her. "Is it over? Really over?" Oh for the love of….Kira, sword out and mouth shut is really the best look on you. Even Scott is dumbfounded that you've been in Beacon Hills for months now and you really think things are good.

I, in turn, am dumbfounded that everyone treats Meredith like a little lost puppy. She hired people to commit mass murder. What about that says time to trust her? Why do they even take her story at face value? I hope she's brilliant and screwing them all over. If they drop their guard like this, they deserve it. Lydia asks why Meredith added her own name to the dead pool and she says she heard Lydia scream for Allison when she died. (Love how they keep honoring her.) Meredith: "That's why I knew it was the right time to start over." Lydia: "But with Peter?" Good point. Meredith: "He's the alpha. He's always been the alpha. He'll make it right. It never was with us. Too many people died because of us. We're the monsters, even banshees, even me." I may hate this story twist but the acting here is topnotch. All kudos to Maya Eshet. Lydia: "I don't believe that. Not all monsters do monstrous things." Meredith isn't ready to believe until Lydia mentions Scott. That resonates because Meredith says Lydia is good too and finally breaks down over her role in MASS MURDER!!! I refuse to excuse this like every single person in this precinct. I'd rather have Peter. Just not in Kate's sewer. I get money woes, but really there are plenty of abandoned buildings in Beacon Hills. Kate calls Peter out for sulking and Peter admits he's rattled. Hmm, that is a shock. The admission, that is. Kate reminds him everything is still on schedule. "Maybe every little piece of your game didn't move just as predicted but they still moved perfectly into place." She accuses him of wanting to bail on the plan, but Peter counters: "Not when I'm this close. Not when I'm this close to killing Scott McCall." There you go, folks - the infamous Teen Wolf cliffhanger. Peter wants to kill Scott and the entire fandom goes, "Yeah, so what's new?"

Oh this episode! How do I explain this episode? The entire writing staff got high on yellow wolfsbane and viola season 4 was born? No? Then I've got nothing. As in nothing in this entire episode makes a lick of sense. Printing a list of timeline issues, logic fails, unanswered questions, common sense problems, out of character moments, and generally all out bizarre story structure would make the Benefactor look like the biggest eco-reforming psychopath on the planet. Who exactly is the Benefactor now anyway? CrazyPants, Meredith, Comatose Peter, the computer….I've lost track. Since I have genuinely no clue what happened here, I'm filling this review paragraph with my general theories and grandest wishes. The biggest wish being that our hapless hero trio (Scott, Stiles, and Allison) wake up to find this entire season was a nightmare aftereffect of the nematon. Hey, it could happen. Just saying that an entire season retcon is fine by me, and I usually hate even small ones. Anyway, here's my last two episode predictions:

1. Scott will kill someone to save someone, probably Liam.
2. Peter will be revealed to the pack as evil.
3. Someone's life will hang by the balance.
4. The Benefactor stuff isn't really over. The real cliffhanger is yet to fall.
5. We will see Malia's mom.
6. Someone on Team Parent will be awesome, probably Mama McCall. (Yeah, I know that's a given.)

My hopes are different:

1. Meredith really is evil and provides the real cliffhanger of the season.
2. Peter lives to be the Big Bad in the final season.
3. Kate and Gerard Argent die…for real…forever this time. (This is a longstanding wish list item.)
4. All new freshman and all new blondes get shipped off to Tall Prep Blond's school, even Liam. Yeah I know he got kicked out but hey, second chances.
5. Scott does not have his own DarkStiles theme. It never works when the moral center goes askew.
6. Instead of Kira's Hem Haw Disease, Malia's common sense will rub off on the writers, erhm the other characters.
7. All money woes end as suddenly as they began. In fact, don't even explain how the bills got taken care of. Just make them go away.
8. The season finale feel good scene (you know they always have one) does NOT take place at a rave.
9. Someone actually admits that nothing about the Benefactor made sense and they all just shrug and look forward to next season's baddie. If you're going to screw me over like this, I want some meta to chew on.
10. NO ONE IN THE PACK DIES!!!! Unless it's Liam.

  1. So yeah....um, what just happened here? Did we really resolve the season-long Big Bad by turning a key 2 episodes before the season ends. I call shenanigans! Still nothing has made sense in all of season 4 so all I can say is...bring on Season 5...after a nice long brain break for the entire writing staff and especially Jeff Davis.

  2. This show is becoming painful to watch.

  3. Clearly in the minority but i enjoyed the episode, I like how Lydia has really come into her own this season I hope they keep giving Holland challenging material because she continues to impress me, I am also hoping we can discover secret Banshee skills other than predicting death "we are more dangers than you think" line has be hopeful Lydia might become a real force in the pact not just on the sidelines with Stiles playing detective.

  4. I totally agree they need too close this storyline, I was never a big fan of Kate returning and I'm affraid I was right. I also really hate that they turn Peter into the big bad once again couse his participation and his role in Malia's life could be interesting and this screws that up. I can't wait for them to switch to the next idea but it doesn't look like they'll even get close to making a good follow up to the amazingness of the third season, which is a pitty cause I truly love the character aditions such as Malia and the more-involved-by-the-hour Parish.

  5. This season has definitely been painful. I live in hope for season 5 because there is a lot of great ways to go still and the characters have great potential. They need to tighten up the writing though because even in a supernatural show, the audience will only go so far away from logic before it gets painfully obvious that no one knows where the story is going.

  6. I am actually disappointed in the storyline for Lydia so far. It has been an improvement from before, don't get me wrong. However, when Jeff said this was going to be the season of Lydia, I expected something as engrossing and character moving as 3B was for Stiles. Instead I feel that we haven't learned very much more about banshees and their powers and Lydia has been even more isolated from the rest of the pack than usual. She goes entire episodes without physically being in a scene with any of them. I want Lydia to step up to be the leader she is clearly made to be, but to do that she needs to have more interaction with the other characters instead of always being off on her own.

I agree that Holland is a fine actor and because of that I feel she is being underused. She spent most of this season stsring into space puzzled or crying, which feels exactly like last season to me. For me, her finest acting was actually in the previous episode with Stiles and CrazyPants DoucheOrderly. She really shone in that one and I would like to see Jeff Davis focusing more on her character in the future. To be honest, I often feel the same way about Derek. He's criminally underused as well. I've been dreaming of a Derek and Lydia spin-off for 2 seasons now so they can both get the quality and quantity of screen time they deserve. If they keep adding new characters every time they get rid of one, these too will never get the spotlight they deserve. Since Lydia is one of my favorite characters, I really hope they develop the banshee storyline more than they have this year.

  7. Since MTV's online player sucks, I didn't notice most of the timeline inconsistencies noted because I was just trying to get more than two minutes to play before it froze up on me again! However, the constant freezing allowed me to write more thoughts down so I guess I'll put that in the win column...

    1. It's so blatantly obvious that they are setting Scott up to kill someone that if he doesn't in the next two episodes, it will feel as anticlimactic as the Benefactor reveal. When Scott kills, I hope it is to protect Stiles or Mama McCall. If it's to protect Kira or Liam, I will be pissed.

    2. Speaking of the Benefactor...there better be more to this story. I actually laughed when it was revealed to be the crazed ravings of a crispy Peter that planted the idea into Meredith's head. However, if that's the end of it, I will be very disappointed. What I really want is for it to be Meredith screwing with everyone and working with Malia's mom.

    3. Up until Argent's horticultural thievery in this episode, I thought he was just trying to save his hide from Mama Fratelli when he recited the hunter's oath. Now, I don't trust him again and that makes me feel icky. He best be using that pretty flower against someone OTHER than Scott. Like when Peter becomes the Big Bad again and he needs to work WITH Scott.

    4. While we are on the subject of trust issues....Malia. I can't help but be suspicious of her now that she knows Peter is her father. I just have this icky feeling that he has gotten to her and her making up with Stiles is a part of his plan to kill Scott. I really hope this is not the case as Malia has been by far my favorite addition to Scott's pack and to have her betray not only Scott but Stiles too would just...well, make me hate her even more than Kate.

    5. Clearly we are heading to a Scott vs. Peter showdown. Which got me thinking....if Scott kills Peter, does that mean he could potentially be "cured" of being a werewolf? In S1, Derek told him that it was POSSIBLE for him to be cured if he killed the alpha that created him. Is that still in play since Peter "has always been the alpha" or does his current status as a resurrected Omega make that play null and void? Hmmmmm......personally, I hope this is not an option. If we have gone thru all of this with Scott only to have him revert back to being human in the end, well that would just suck.

    6. I am pretty sure that Derek is going to be the death this season which makes me very sad. His character growth since S3 started has been amazing - I would love to see him helping Scott thru the aftermath of Scott's first kill (which we all know is coming). Out of all the characters in this show, I think Derek is the best equipped to help him come to terms with it and become a better alpha in spite of it.

    Other Random thoughts...
**Kira - kudos for fighting without checking to see if Scott is watching you be a bad ass. Also, it is never over in Beacon Hills, your naivety will get you killed.
**Liam - glad that you are scared. You should be. Kudos to you for admitting it, especially to your alpha. Scott, kudos for listening and not belittling his fear.
**Could some one please just kill Kate?
**WTF with the computer....how in the hell is it interfacing with current technology? My original Apple 2e could barely find Carmen San Diego let alone transmit a kill list to specific assassins that were either in diapers or not even born yet when it was turned on?

  8. I am actually afraid of season 5 because it has double number of episodes and that usually means more complicated plots, a lot of filler episodes and dragged dramas.

    ReplyDelete
  9. This season was never going to compare to the brilliance of last season, but I did hope they would at least try. Bringing Kate back was the first misstep in a season chock full of problems. I live and breath by "What's dead should stay dead" especially in supernatural shows where resurrection is never a surprise anymore. It's one of the biggest cliches. My problem with Peter isn;t that he's the Big Bad. He should be, but not until teh final season. He makes the perfect secret villain that betrays the hero and has a personal connection to all the main players. Because of this, he needs to be reserved for the final punch. Tacking him on as the Big Bad at the end of a failing season does not give the character justice. I want him to continue to manipulate the pack and dig into their weaknesses so he can exploit them later. He needs to be the cerebral villain right now, not the over the top baddie.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Except season 3 had more episodes than season 5 is going to have and it was by far my favorite. I think it depends on the villain of the season and how tightly the overall arc is written. This season did not feel like Teen Wolf and it suffered from lack of basic story organization right from the start.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yikes, it would frustrate me to no end having to watch in 2 minute increments. Kudos to your patience and perseverance.

    1. They have been dropping serious anvils about Scott going rogue or at least killing people for so long that I just want them to get it over with. These anvils are hruting my head. I am betting that he saves Liam by killing someone, based on how much they are promoting their father-son relationship and because the the nightmares in Time of Death. I hope it isn't so. My picks would be Mama McCall, Sheriff, or Stiles because I think there are great dynamics to be explored there and it would stifle at least the most major emoangsting that will come along with it.

    2. Crispy Peter - BWAAAHHH!!! I am totally stealing this. I agree that this cannot be the end of the Benefactor plot twists because that would be the lamest thing Teen Wolf has done since bowling. Actually the absolute lamest thing. Meredith as ubervillain mastermind fascinates me so I hope that's were this is going. However, i would ve happy to learn she was working for Gerard all along IF and ONLY IF it means we can finally kill him.

    3. I live in fear of one of Team Parent going evil and sadly Argent is the most likely one. However I do think he plans to use the pretty flower on Kate to subdue her. After all, we've learned that this rare, powerful, yellow wolfsbane is more potent than the normal variety and yet cannot kill werewolves...until it can...but no it can't again...but maybe...Argh! Wolfsbane canon is as jacked up as the timeline this season.

    4. I didn't get that at all with Malia. I figure Peter is going to try to use her but no way she's in on the plan. She's too loyal to a pack that hasn't shown her the same consideration. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I feel like Malia's sins are going to be ones of trusting the wrong person, not willingly perpetrating them herself.

    5. I thought we found out in season 1 that this was not the case. In fact, I thought we heard it in an episode but so many people are going with this theory that I now think it must have been an interview with Jeff Davis. Scott will never NOT be a werewolf. He's the Teen Wolf of the title and until they hand the show over to Liam, heaven help us when that happens, he stays the main werewolf of Beacon Hills. There's no going back for Scott. Derek now, that seems to be another story. I will revolt if Scott bites Derek to restore his werewolf powers by the way.

    6. Speaking of Derek, I spent all of season 3 fearing about his death. Now I am far more worried about Argent. I've attached the picture I tweeted out yesterday. Unless Hoechlin also wants to try a new show, I think Derek is staying now. They spent too much time turning him into an instant Yoda/sensei last season. If they were going to kill him off, I feel they would have done it them. There is always the possibility that Scott will kill out of anger instead of protection and then Derek would be the likely target. Still I feel okay with Derek's survival rate this season. Of course nothing else has made sense to me in season 4 so they could throw a wacky death in as well at and this time it wouldn't even faze me.

Other - B) I too am glad that Liam is uncomfortable with his new werewolf role. It makes sense. You know what would also make sense - leaving Beacon Hills. After all, that seems to be the center of evil in the known universe so go little beta. Flee now.

    C) I put Gerard as #1 on my Argent hit list but Kate is so close as #2 we might as well off them both and make Beacon Hills a much better place.

    D) Ha! My first computer barely got on the Oregon Trail and to hit something in Duck Hunt you pretty much had to fire while the game was booting up. No way a 70's computer can do any of what they were saying. Is Meredith an accomplished construction worker as well? How did she get new dry wall up after she changed the dead poll list without anyone noticing?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ooops, forgot the picture and it won't let me add in edit mode. Here's my biggest death worry:

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's the difference between us. I didn't enjoy third season and was planning to quit if first three episodes of season 4 didn't manage to catch my attention. Somehow they did, but now I don't feel like giving this show second chance and after the finale I will have to make final decision.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow, yeah that's a big difference. I thought season 3 B was the best season of any show last year. Sleepy Hollow was close behind.

    ReplyDelete
  15. JR Bourne's got a role in Un-real so it looks like it may be true.

    ReplyDelete
  16. i didn't have most of the detail issues u did. Most of the ep made sense to me. Poor Satomi is left protecting a huge percentage of boobs in her pack because most of the fighters died in the woods. The Sheriff just wanted to shoot Peter cause letting him walk after killing a man in front of him did NOT sit well. (ok that one is conjecture).

I knew this season wasn't going to stand up to last season, but most of my issues were in set up and were primarily character consistency and directing. this ep didn't cause huge pings....if I consider scenes not on scene. Like running the app to send the cancel msg. what i am wondering is why, after countless messages being sent through the 70s hardware to run and maintain to pool...including cellphone updates of payment....everyone hits a brick wall about the cancel message being sent. Of course the computer has been made compatible with cellphones it has been all season. :-)

i strongly agree that Peter 'I kill u" declaration @ the end was anticlimactic.

shoot. people in line for my table must save before eveything i typed disappears.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Meh I thought the episode was pretty good. Same with the season.

    ReplyDelete
  18. In all honesty I believed CrazyPants or Meredith were sending payments out and keeping the list, not the Granny 2000 computer. It makes zero sense that it was doing those things all along. It doesn't make much sense that powering it off via a key would be any different than Malia clubbing it or pulling the plug either. The fact that it had to be drywalled up a long time ago, given that Lydia did not know of its presence and Granny has presumably been dead for awhile now adds even more issues with its ability to be compatiable with modern devices. Did Meredith break in and update the list and then re-drywall the space as well? I find absolutely nothing about the computer being the Benefactor to make sense at all. The timeline makes even less sense and that's hard to do.

I'll give you Satomi's fighters being dead although that was one targeted list if they only posioned those tht could defend themselves. My bigger problem is that even with her magic werewolf scent cloacking that that big of a pack could be hidden from our resident supernaturals. If we go with 2 dozen dead in the woods and another 8-ish alive, that's one huge pack. I agree that Sheriff was very unhappy with watching Peter kill someone and not being able to prosecute, but I'm still going with whatever pills he's on since he should be in surgery, is effecting his brain.

    ReplyDelete
  19. To be honest, he has the least reason to stay in Beacon Hills of them all. I would rather hejust leave than be killed off though.

    ReplyDelete
  20. not smashing them meant the ability to run the cancellation program. Which had to already been written for when everyone on the list was dead. All that would have to happen here was Meredith telling them which program to run to stop it.

Drywall wasn't a problem for me because the boxes i was looking at were tape drive not the CPU. I looked and simply knew the cpu access was elsewhere in the house. Never occurred to me that anyone would think it had to be opened to be accessed. :-). Ditto with modificationmy theory is that when Granny broke out of Eichen house (did we gat a date on her death other than after 2009) she returned home...wrote the software on a modern system that talked to the old system ...and was then murdered.

i think the Beacon Hills county discussion happened at the beginning of the season happened because someone in the writers room asked...why doesn't anyone know there's another pack. :-)

i can't argue with u about the Sheriff and the drugs. Parrish should have taken his gun.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Agreed. I was looking for some cool banshee mythology to be revealed that could in turn be helpful to the pack instead of always playing catch up. Meredith had a chance to be a very awesome character, but now she'll only be one if she's evil and playing them. I want Lydia the leader to emerge and for her powers to be proactive instead of always reactive. The only truly good thing they've done for Lydia this year, besides additional screen time, is developing the relationship with her mom. I hope that continues and that she can be helpful as well.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm trying to brain bleach Kate out. Macking on a teenager at her age makes me sick to my stomach. If I hadn't wanted her to die beforehand, then I definitely would have in that Teen Derek scene. I do like Kate better with Peter, but I agree that she hasn't had much to do beyond exposition and the occasional massacre. Definitely not worth risky the show credibility to resurrect her for this.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1. I really don't want Scott to kill for Liam. I like the Father/Son, Big/Little Brother vibe between the two but just like Stiles saving Scott at the motel instead of Allison, Scott should be saving him or Mama McCall. Yes, there is a bond between Liam and Scott but it is nothing compared to the bond between him and Stiles. Killing for anyone other than those two (or Sheriff as you mentioned) just wouldn't sit right with me.

    2. "Crispy Peter" is all yours...too bad we could incorporate that into a bingo square somehow???

    3. I too am concerned about Argent going dark side. Jeff needs to just NOT.

    4. I hope I am worrying needlessly about Malia. She is bad ass and I really hope that Peter doesn't get to her and that she is instrumental in taking him down. Generally speaking I am not a fan of romance but if the writers feel they must have a relationship on the show, then I would prefer it to be Stiles and Malia to Scott and Kira. Most the time I want to smack some sense into Kira and I'm afraid that one of these times her naivety is going to get her or someone else I care about (i.e. Scott, Lydia or Stiles) killed.

    5. The last time I remember the "cure" being mentioned was in the Season 1 finale when Derek decides to kill Peter and Scott pleads with him not to as it's the only chance he has to be with Allison. Hoping I missed something (totally possible as I watched all of S2 in two days) as Scott returning to human, even if/when the mantle is passed to someone else (again Jeff, just don't) he needs to remain a werewolf - anything else will cheapen his journey for me.

    6. I have been looking to see if Tyler H has been associated with any other shows/projects but couldn't find anything. Unfortunately, JR Bourne has so you may be right, Derek may live another season as Jeff decides to claim another Argent to explain JR Bourne's departure.

Other B. LOL - ikr - why would anyone stay in BH? Since we haven't seen Danny yet, I'm hoping he got the hell out of Dodge!

Other C. Agreed - they both need to have their food spiked with that pretty little flower Chris swiped. I would be OK with Scott's first kills to be these two.

Other D. Didn't think about the drywall! That whole thing just gets worse and worse the more I think about it.

Perhaps I'm just as naive as Kira by still being optimistic that they can pull all this together somehow and save this season from the let down it has been.

    ReplyDelete
  24. LOL...right? Where is Danny? Not even coach had anything to say about it. And Jeff does have a think for blondes. Pretty sure that's why Kate is still alive - can't kill off the busty blonde (but in his defense, isn't "don't kill the busty blonde" an unwritten rule in this genre?).

I do hope that Chris would stay to teach everyone how to strategize and come up with a plans that work. Sad that the only plan that has actually worked on this show has been Peter's. That he doesn't remember coming up with! But with JR Bourne's new gig, I'm thinking he will be MIA for most if not all of S5.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I liked 3B too but whilst this half is bad writing wise Malia is actually one of my fav parts , Lydia story is not capturing me at all she literally not grown since 3B, Derek has become boring at least his interactions with Stiles were fun now honestly l feel like they could kill him off and the show would be more than fine.
Season 4 has issues but every show has a bad season just hope it doesnt become seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The reason l loved Kate's resurrection was because the show has way to many guy villains alive whilst it seems like the chicks are always on the chopping block. Plus l was never convinced she was dead at all she was way too cray cray to simple die as easily as she did.
Peter however l hope dies and stays that way. As for the kiss with Derek , shes a villain l doubt Davis wants to make Kate so popular he cant kill her.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The fact that Teen Derek didn't notice was an element that made me put my 'suspension of disbelief' out in the back yard for an hour.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 5) I hadn't considered the possibility that killing Peter could cure Scott. Do you thing the fact that Scott's made a beet would adversely affect that outcome?

    6) I chose denial over the idea of Derek dying permanently. Can't do it. (All the reasons you list lead me to believe you're correct but I'm choosing denial.)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah, actually what I was thinking about not wanting Peter to be the Big Bad was not because I don't like him as a villain but because I don't like him as a villain that resurfaces in the last episodes of a bad season and will probably killed off, I do hope they find a way arround that cause I think he has a lot to offer as a character but I'm not seeing this heading in a good way.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Would be interesting to see what would happen to Liam if Scott's status as a werewolf changed. I REALLY hope that Jeff doesn't go down this road otherwise Scott's whole journey will seem like a waste but if he did, the effects on Liam would have to be addressed as well.

I really hope that it is not Derek that dies this season but one of the actresses (Holland maybe??) mentioned that the finale will have everyone in tears so ya know someone is going to die. At this point, given Derek was the last key to the cipher, he is the most likely candidate but since Jeff seems to enjoy offing the Argents, Chris could be in danger too (cuz it is WAY too much to hope that Kate or Gerard bite the big one).

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think Malia is the saving grace of this season. Lilith, my Teen Wolf podcast partner, and I were talking Wednesday about how for all it is supposed to be Lydia's season, it is actually Malia that has grown the most as a character. I enjoy her matter of fact outlook and all the humor that comes with her. I don't think Lydia is completely stagnant, but I do think think that this has not been her season in the way that 3B was Stiles' There is a lot of room for improvement in her storylines, the first of which is allowing her to interact more with teh main cast since she is presumably part of it.

I disagree about Derek though. I think he has been vastly improved in the last 2 seasons. In fact, I like him better as a human than a werewolf right now. At least as human, he wins fights instead of always getting beat up like in 3A. I think it was a very smart move to change him from the solo guy to a mentor to Scott. Scott definitely needs one and Wise Derek is a thing of beauty. I hope they continue in this vein except they need to give him more screentime and more interaction with characters beyond Scott. I love when he works with Argent and I would lvoe to see him have more time with Sheriff. Mostly though I would like to see Lydia and Derek get a storyline that has them working together. I am a huge anti-shipper so I don't mean have them get romantic, but I think they have skill sets that would complement each other.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Absolutely! It was one of the first glaring time issues I had. He should have at least said something about it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I abhor Kate's resurrection. Again, what's dead should stay dead. But I do agree that the death rate between males and females needs to be corrected. For me, that means killing of both Gerard and Deucalion. Neither of these two should have made it past 3A and I am still ticked about their double standard. If they had to raise a female from the dead, I would have prefered Blake. She has a fascinating history at least. Kate was irksome from her first scene. Still they should all be dead and never come back again.

Peter is an interesting case because while I am dead set against resurrections, especially on genre shows given how cliche it is, now that he's alive I want him to stay until the end. He's the best villain choice they have in that he's someone the audience knows well, he has a personal connection to all the main characters, he's smart enough to carry out a multi-year plan that is both logical and diabolical, and he has the requisite snark. Those four things combined make the ideal villain on any show. After all, there's a reason why Superman had his Lex Luthor and Spiderman his Harry. People who have been side by side with the protagonists for years always make the best Big Bads. They will not find another character as perfect as Peter to be the final season's Big Bad. If they waste him now it will be one of the worst decisions they have ever made.

The kiss with Derek was just plain inappropriate and vomit-inducing. There was NO excuse for it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for clarifying. I agree. It seems shoddy to just rush him into the Big Bad position when they have been slow burning him as pure evil for several seasons now.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 1. 100% agreed. The Stiles and Scott bond is the foundation of Teen Wolf so if Scott kills for anyone, it should be him. They have already put too much emphasis on Liam anyway so I'll be cheering for the bad guy if it's him.

    2. We can definitely use it as a Bingo square for this season, but I doubt it will be good for season 5. Mostly because I am only 50% sure that Peter will make it until then. man do I hope he does though.

    4. I am a huge antishipper but Malia and Stiles has one thing none of the other pairings on this show has - humor. They make me laugh. Quite honestly I like these two however they end up on my screen - together or separate. The best thing about this season has been Malia. Kira used to be a great character last season, but this season she is a complete and utter mess. In fact, she's been a mess since they Matrix-downloaded her skills. It was like her ninja skills powered up and her brain powered down. It really annoys me and I hope Jeff Davis fixes it by next season. If not then I hope the kitsune spin-off really does happen.

    5. The first time this "cure" was mentioned I figured it was just Derek trying to give Scott a reason to work with him, which he didn't want to do. I don't take it seriously at all so I'm not one bit worried about it. I'm 99% sure that Scott will be a werewolf throughout the show, including the ending. There's no way they would permanently make him human again. I am far less certain that Stiles will remain 100% human though and I want that equally.

    6. With Allison's death, anyone is fair play. It's one of the few shows that really will kill off a main character instead of just send them away. It definitely heightens the tension, albeit just for a short time since apparently everyone can come back on Teen Wolf.

I actually am still hopeful for something to make sense. It's too far gone for it to be anything but tied for season 1 as the worst season of Teen Wolf. A great finish would tie it. Otherwise it is hands down the worst. Still the worst of Teen Wolf is still better than a lot of shows on the air and one bad season does not break a series. I am hoping to be wowed by these last 2 episodes, but even if I am not, I have faith in season 5 until they prove me wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I hate when they just disappear a character without any explanation. I wouldn't be questioning Danny's absence at all if it weren't for all the freaking lacrosse junk. I would totally buy that they just didn't have any classes together and missed him in the halls. Not talking about him in lacrosse though just made things awkward and left a gaping hole. Jeff Davis knows better than that. Quite honestly, it annoys me more than mostly ignoring Isaac's existence.

The only reason Kate is back is because Jeff loves Jill. That's why she's not #1 on the people to die prediction list this season. I really wish it weren't so though. As for Argent, he's the only one with the skills they need so while he can go the way of Deaton next season, only appearing in a handful of episodes, I need him to be vital when he is on screen. If I can't have quantity, then by goodness I better have quality. And no, I cannot fathom the idea of an Argent-less Teen Wolf season so while I worry he will die, I'm not even allowing the idea of season 5 without him completely. They work around actor's work schedules all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I still say Derek was playing Scott to get him to help him. However I am right there with you in denying the possibility of Derek death. I mentally prepared for it all last season. I'm not even doing that again.

    ReplyDelete
  38. My biggest question is what if anything his first kill does for Scott as a werewolf. Does it change him at all? To be honest, becoming an alpha really didn't make much of a difference in its own right. I'm guessing this won't either unless we are about to go down a Dark Scott path (no, no, no, no!) If they go there, then Scott is officially Sam Winchester. I dread the idea of Scott getting a taste for murder and becoming more predator.

Teen Wolf finales do tend to end in massacre and nothing ever makes pack death easier. I'm hoping the tears come more in the line of a Motel California than the tradiitonal let's kill everyone bloodbath. It's getting too predictable and I'd like to think this season's twist is no one in the pack dies or goes on permanent hiatus. That would be a nice change.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Agreed - since they made such a big deal out of the "rare true alpha" thing, it didn't really seem to change anything - Scott still gets thrown into walls almost every episode. I hope they address the first kill and make it effective him at least mentally...and if they go dark side with his character, I will riot (and by riot I mean lots of yelling and throwing socks at my computer). I don't like what they have done to Sam and if they go down that road with Scott...no. Just no.

I really hope everyone but Kate and/or Gerard survive this season. I'll take Motel California tears over Insatiable tears any day!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Exactly! Coach mentioned Isaac and Jackson but I don't remember him saying anything about Danny being MIA. I am still holding out hope that Isaac will make an appearance in at least one of the last two episodes. From the promos for tomorrow's episode, it looks like Kate has Scott and I would love it if Chris and Isaac came busting in there and put a yellow wolfsbane bullet in her ass. Isaac grew on me over S3 and I have missed his presence. While Liam doesn't annoy me as much as he did at the beginning, I still prefer Isaac to him.

Ahhh, that explains why we can't seem to get rid of Kate - he likes the busty blondes in real life too!

Agree with quality of quantity....I want more Argent but I want him to be working with the pack or working with Scott individually to cultivate his leadership skills. Being trained by both Derek and Argent would produce one kick ass alpha (add a little Braeden sass in there and we got a trifecta)!. He doesn't need to be in every episode to accomplish that...hell, they could fill all his scenes for the season in a few days if there was that much of a cross over in JR's production schedules.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Losing Chris would hurt...but the logic of it fits in my head.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Here's a new 4.11 Bingo card with Extra Crispy Peter included.

    ReplyDelete
  43. 2. They better not kill off Peter either....since his resurrection, I have always pictured him as the final Big Bad that Scott has to defeat to really take his place as an alpha....his version of Darth Vader if you will.

    4. You're right, the humor is exactly why I am OK with their relationship...couldn't put my finger on it before but that is exactly it. Malia's "progress" this season is hilarious and she seems to be the only one still in possession of her common sense. Shelly and Dylan play beautifully off each other....unfortunately, Typer P and Arden just don't seem to have that same chemistry - awkward yes, romantic no. I didn't know there was a possible kitsune spin off possibility but I would much rather have her family move back to New York and have a separate show based on that then have them keep trying to force the Kira/Scott thing.

    5. Ahhh yes, brilliant point. Derek has changed (in a good way) so much since S1 that I didn't even think of it being mentioned as a way to manipulate Scott. I do hope that is the case. I agree with Stiles needing to stay human. I can totally see him getting mortally injured and Sheriff asking Scott to bite him to save him though (again, just don't Jeff).

    6. LOL - right? Channeling Supernatural again with dead don't stay dead thing. Salt and burn that shit and move on.

Agreed with worst season since S1 and if they don't wow me with the next two episodes, it will be the worst for me as well. 3B was pure genius so I get that it was a tough act to follow but this has been one hot mess since the start.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's there! OMG, I am dying right now! So totally using this card for tomorrow's episode (when it posts on Tuesday, of course).

    ReplyDelete
  45. Right? While watching I was like "Ummm, WTF, Don't you see the wrinkles?!?" I was expecting at least a "You look different than I remember you" comment.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think that the memories Meredith shared with Peter really shook him.
That said I don't think he is going to can his plan. He
will use Malia to kill Kate (she is still responsible for his family
death after all) - and I think Stiles will somehow get drafted into it. (he has
been telling us non-stop that he will not leave Malia behind) It has
been hinted all season that Scott wil kill someone and that there is a conection developing between Malia and Stiles.

The other thing is, in my opinion, Peter won't be the one dying. My money is on Kate.

Still about the deaths this season... what about Stiles name on lydia's list? Was that over when Bru******ski died or is that still on? Becouse in the basement the Bru******ski guy went for Lydia first. Doesn't that mean that she should have written her own name on the list and not Stiles - or just both of their names?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ten Derek was far too blase about most things, "time traveling" Kate the msot. He really ought to have been asking her questions about most things instead of jsut wondering about if he should show her the vault.

    ReplyDelete
  48. 2. Yep, Peter is all the Darths rolled into one on this show so he deserves a season-long big bang of an exit when he goes.

    4. Lilith, my podcast parnter, is actively rooting for Kira to head back to NYC as well. I am all for fixing her or moving her. I don't want her to die because that's jsut redundant and I think she's the most easily fixed so I hope Jeff Davis puts some thought into her character next season. I don't care whether she's with Scott or not, but she does need to develop into her own person beyond Scott, if that makes any sense. Characters who are only part of a romance are dead weight and sadly Kira and Scott together makes both less palatable. Fix them separately and they make a more dynamic pairing together. Or even better, drop the whole romance thing for everyone and focus on growing all characters next season.

    5. Every year the fans clamor for Stiles ot become supernatural and evry year I clamor for Jeff to ignore them. All supernatural shows need to have several human counterparts to be the window to the audience. It's how we relate to the supernatural and the events by looking at it through their eyes. To make Team Parent or Stiles supernatural themselves would be to lose that connection and would be a detriment to the overall show in my opinion.

Here's hoping that tonight's episode can help turn the tide around for this season. It's a mountainous uphill battle but this pack can do a lot when they are heading in teh right direction.

  49. That is my real problem with it. If Coach had mentioned Danny in the list and maybe said all three moved, then I wouldn't be sitting round waiting for Danny to return. It's frustrating when 1 little sentence would clear things up. I wouldn't be happy to lose Danny but people do move unexpectedly in real life and it's not like any of the pack were really close buddies with him. I could see his leaving being a background event in the face of losing Allison and dealing with the aftermath of 3B.

I'm actually okay with Isaac being gone. He had very little to do in season 3 so I don't miss him much. Leaving off with Argent was enough closure for me although it might be nice to get small updates every now and then, a la Jackson.

  50. I think that Scott's fighting skills have gotten worse as an alpha, while Derek's skills have gotten better as an omega and then human. It's bizarre, especially since we never really see it addressed on screen. I am fairly sure that Scott's first kill will lead to much emoangsting, btu how much of that makes it on screen will be difficult to judge. If they time leap, probably very little of it. After all, we still haven't addressed Stiles dealing with all the people he killed when possesed by the nogitsune and that should have been a major component of this season. I'd rather see the pack's PTSD than Liam's since I don't care one jot about him.

I'm hoping that Jeff and the writers realize that Scott is not the same type of character Stiles is. They cannot simply give Scott a Dark Stiles plot and expect lightning to strike twice. Scott hs always, always been the moral center of this show and making Captain America go bad doesn't have the same affect on the viewers.

  51. I would be very good if Kate died but Jeff Davis never seems to kill off the ones I want him too so I'm not holding my breath. I'm still at a toss up on whether Peter will die or not. I don't think it makes any sense, but I also don't know what killing more characters off would do to enhance the story unless it's the new kids just to make more room. I really hope no one else dies from the pack or even pack adajacent. I can see Malia goingt o kill Kate but I'm not sure how he convinces Malia to follow him at all. She's rightly suspicious of him and I would hate to see that change. She's the only character with any common sense left and we jsut can't lose that.

For me, Stiles might agree that Kate should die but I don't see him actively trying to kill her, more get her locked up or in a position where someone else can kill her. I really, really do not see him voluntarily doing anything Peter suggests though. As far as his name on the deadpool list goes, I think that is over. CrazyPants seems to be the reason why Lydia added Stiles' name and the reason she didn't pencil her own in is because she was already on the list. It doesn bring up an interesting conundrum about banshee predicitons since obviously not everyone they predict will die, does. The dead pool list itself proves that unless Meredith added extra names herself later. It seems she did add her own name, so that is possible.

  52. I finally caught up and watched the last two episodes together, I found them both pretty boring :/ There was nothing that stood out for me at all other than the "not all monsters do monstrous things" scene.

I'm not even going to list everything I found stupid (sorry that's just the best word I can think of to describe it), im just going to go ahead and say a few things I want to happen:

    1) Peter needs to die, Peter needs to die and Peter needs to die...for good.

    2) If Scott does end up killing someone I want everyone to support him and everyone gets over it before the season ends, not have him moaning and questioning himself all of next season.

    3) Explain why Scott doesn't just bite Derek.

    4) Kill Brett and Mason or explain why the hell they are in the show.

    5) Ease up on the gel in Stiles' hair (I know thats an odd thing but it just looks so stupid now)

    6) Give Kira something useful to do other than being Scott's bed buddy.

    7) The 'money problems' thing that everyone has needs to go away, like it doesn't even have to be resolved i'd be fine if they just never brought it up again.

There's more I just can't think of it all atm.

This probably won't happen since im so attached to the show, it's characters and even the actors but i'm on the verge of dropping the show.

  53. You're right. With Teen wolf you never know who is gonna bite it. It kind of reminds me of Torchwood that way. I think that Peter will make it mostly based on my personal feelings for the character. I really like him as a bad guy. Love his snark and the way he delivers his lines and I think a lot of people like him too. More than Kate anyway.

Malia is suspicious about Peter, but she wants to find her mother. So I think this is the only leverage that Peter has on her. She is really street smart and I don't think it will be strange if she plays double agent like Scott with Gerard or Deucalian.

It's true that Stiles wouldn't activally try to kill Kate but I don't think that he will hesitate to do so in protection of Malia or Scott. I think that the whole experience with the Nogitsune changed him more than we have seen till now.

Maybe you are right about Stiles name on grandma Martin list. It's just doesn't make sense why they even put it there in the first place - and then just finish it like that..... I guess we will have to wait and see.

  54. Agreed. Agreed. Agreed. While I hope that they address it (instead of ignore it like Stiles), I don't want it to be the focus of 5A either. Scott really is Captain America and just like Cap, he can kill without losing his moral center and descending into evil. We have Peter, we don't need another evil werewolf.

  55. Agree again....would be nice to just get a few lines of dialogue addressing Danny's absence and what is up with Isaac and Jackson. When Chris returned I thought he would at least mention why Isaac wasn't with him but again, we got bupkiss. I liked the call backs to Allison we have gotten this season, just with they could spread the love to some of our other former Beaconites.

  56. 4. Makes total sense. Just like how intense the relationship was between Scott and Allison that Scott himself didn't really know himself without her, Kira needs to find who she is outside of Scott. She has all these ninja-matrix skills now - she should be cultivating them, not stopping in the middle of every fight to see if Scott is watching (that pissed me off to no end - was a three sock event). I would rather they drop the whole romance between them. The chemistry just isn't there between the two actors and the characters can be so much ore without that dragging them down. Sadly, tonight's episode seems to spend at least part of the episode on their first date. Hopefully, the date is interrupted by Kate (might as make her useful if we have to keep her) and they both realize that a relationship is just not gonna work.

    5. Not sure why any one would want him as a Sup. I prefer him human - his perspective keeps the group grounded in the situations they seem to always find themselves in...and there is something to be said for the human that uses good old fashion detective work to figure something out when the Sups with all their powers can't.

Well, tonight's ep has started so I am going to stalk Twitter :-)
