Let's hope that "Fred-ing" Kenzie won't be permanent or I'll be sad.
ReplyDeleteI guess this confirms most of previous spoilers, though
"This is gonna be fun" Goodness I hope so, I've missed fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. This kind of Kenzi plot has disaster written all over it. There are much better things they could be doing with the character.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Lost Girl has been getting too bland. It used to be crazy-fun with really great dialogue, especially with Bo & Kenzi, but it seems the show had been dumbed down for much of season 2. I'm hoping the show will return to being as edgy and fun as it was in season 1.
ReplyDeleteYep, such plots only work when the writing is top-notch.
ReplyDeleteDo I believe Ksenia Solo could pull it off? Yes.
Do I believe that Lost Girl writers could pull it off? No. The show is enjoyable and good, but such plotlines are in far another league.
Still frustrated that Showcase has bowed to Syfy in so many respects.
ReplyDeleteLove how they opening starts, BO falls and lauren and dyson come to her and she says "dont worry guys i dont die bc we got picked up for season 3!!" lol
ReplyDeleteI was planning on only agreeing with you all day today. Just going to every post and saying, "yep, you are right on!" Like so many things in life, I lack conviction. :)
ReplyDeleteI do agree that this has the potential for being disastrous. Kenzi is just the best part of the show IMO. And with the promo and everything, I'm worried that they are going to be taking her out of Bo's corner and sending her and Bo off on their own, which frankly scares the crap out of me. I get the impression that they've decided Bo has grown enough that she can really embrace the strong leading female, queen of all fae, standing alone persona, and they are trying to show that she doesn't need anyone else. However, taking another majorly important character and making them "not themselves" in order for Bo to look stronger seems like an horrible idea to me that we should have already learned not to do.
But I'm clinging to Emily Andras' writing history like a life raft. If there is one thing she can do and does do well, it is write Kenzi. She kept Kenzi on track and awesome even though the season 2 mess. So maybe, just maybe, it will turn out with Kenzi kicking some butt and taking some of the load off of Bo. I do think that Kenzi can carry her own story arc without Bo's backing (I'm not sure I still trust Bo to do be able to do the same thing.)
Writing is important, but also the other characters have to hold true and be compelling around it. Fred wouldn't have been as emotionally powerful w/o Wesley and Angel and everyone's performance around her. How do we get that and Bo going darkside simultaneously? Do we get to the end of the arc and Bo cares as much about Kenzi being lost as she did about Dyson being almost dead, and someone else has to save her? Goodness no.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of this.
ReplyDelete"Kenzi is just the best part of the show IMO."
ReplyDeleteWe're in agreement here too. If they can start writing Kenzi's dialogue as sharp and as salty as it was in season one I think I could make it through season 3 even if they drop the ball on her character arc.
i can not wait for season three its been killing me to see what happens with BO, Lauren , and Dyson
ReplyDeleteDYSON AND BO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I WANT THEM BACK TOGETHER!
ReplyDeleteThe girls (Bo/Kenzi/Lauren) along with Bo and Lauren's relationship are the best thing about this show. I can not wait until January!
ReplyDeletebest birthday present ever ;-)
ReplyDeleteWant this show back ASAP Best thing since Dark Angel and Firefly. Love Bo and Kezni. Rekindle the relationship 'tween Bo and Dyson.
ReplyDeleteMe too !! I'm totally on team Dyson
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity that SyFy took over the show. They have the tendency to kill good shows and replace them with some crap cooking shows.
ReplyDeleteCouldn´t showcase hold on to it?
I fear this will be the last season.....
Now, that SyFy took over... I´d put my money on the show getting even dumber, but more "mass market compatible"
ReplyDeleteSyfy hasn't taken over. Showcase still produces the show on their own but since Syfy pays well for the US broadcast rights they do have some influential input on the show. Unfortunately, that input seems to have made the show less dynamic and more homogenous. In other words, Syfy's cash has made the show worse.
ReplyDeletewhich basically means more or less the same thing. He who has the money makes the decisions.
ReplyDeleteOne can only hope, that after SyFy backs out, Showcase can do an original 4th season all on its own - with some witty dialogs and all.... like it was before....
Aw hell, I miss that show.
P.S.: Don´t forget that SyFy tends to kill shows that are to intelligent (for their audience or ... ? )
ReplyDeleteThat's potentially a good part about all of this. Syfy can't kill it, they can only back out like you mentioned. If they do back out, Showcase can go back to doing an uncensored, unrestricted version of Lost Girl. *fingers crossed*
