911 - The Searchers - Review - Lost and Found

The final installment of the tsunami story held up to the high standard of last episode, though it had a much different vibe.
The chaos and rush of last week is now replaced by methodically organized search and rescue efforts, and the whole core cast - except for Buck - is now on duty and actively participating in these efforts.

We find the 118 crew still rescuing the people stuck on the ferris wheel, including a small flashback to explain the story of a broken-up couple, that, however sweet it was, was a little unnecessary in my opinion. We also meet Lena Bosko, one of the paramedics who were on the pier.
This is where the most memorable part of this episode starts to take shape: all storylines end up being tied to each other, though we only realize it at the end.

Once at the field hospital, Eddie stays behind to help with Lena who's still looking for her captain.

The remainder of the crew goes on the next call, to a building where a large group of people fell victim to carbon monoxide poisoning, only to have to rush to get them out when Hen realizes that a large gaz leak might cause an explosion. While driving these victims to the field hospital, they come across a large group of survivors, led by a woman carrying a child (the same woman who crossed paths with Athena earlier).

Athena ends up on patrol, running after looters only to stumble on the fire captain that was on call at the pier when the tsunami hit. The very same captain that Lena searches for through most of the episode. Only problem is that his arm is stuck under a car, forcing Athena to cut it off with sheers, something that might be stretching reality a bit... I can't imagine sheers made to cut through small branches being sharp enough to cut someone's arm off.

The smaller, and still more heartbreaking part of this episode, was Buck's desperate search for Christopher (with whom he got separated at the end of the previous episode). We see him grow more and more desperate as he stumbles through the rubble, and finish his journey at the field hospital, clearly at the end of whatever adrenaline high had kept him moving, only to face the very likely possibility that Christopher might be dead. This is the moment when he decides to seek help from his sister, but starts panicking when he realizes that Eddie is there too.

But all ends up working out, as Bobby and his crew arrive with the trucks, and it is revealed that the child carried by te woman I mentioned earlier was indeed Christopher who is finally reunited with his father. But this is not the only happy reunion, as Athena arrives only moments earlier, finally giving some peace of mind to Lena when she sees her Captain still alive.

Thankfully, Eddie doesn't hold that little mishap against Buck, and drops Christopher at his apartment at the end of the episode, even joking about the events that just transpired.

"Eddie - There's no one in this world that i trust more with my son more than you (...) Maybe try to go to the zoo this time? Something in land..."

I also feel the need to mention Oliver Stark's (Buck) stellar performance, he really managed to make us feel as lost and desperate as Buck which brought a a lot of realism to these two impressive episodes.
