Brian Stapf (The Purge: The Series, The Walking Dead, Valor) has joined the cast of Stargirl per TVInsider's exclusive.

Stapf will take on the recurring role of Ted Grant aka Wildcat. The role is described as the "Golden Age Wildcat" much like Joel McHale's Golden Age Starman and Lou Ferrigno Jr.'s Golden Age Hourman. The upcoming DC Universe live-action series is being written by Geoff Johns which is inspired by his late sister.

TVInsider notes that Stapf also worked as a stunt coordinator which should come in very handy with the role of Wildcat. Ted Grant is a founding member of the Justice Society of America (JSA) and a former heavyweight boxer. The character is known to be a mentor to younger JSA members like Black Canary and in the case of this series, Stargirl is likely to be the mentee.

Stargirl follows High School sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger) who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions.

J.R. Ramirez portrayed the character in The CW's Arrow.

Stapf joins previously announced cast members Anjelika Washington, Yvette Monreal, Christopher James Baker, Joel McHale, Lou Ferrigno Jr. and Brec Bassinger.
