Releasing in December
Bloomberg is reporting that Black Mirror's upcoming fifth season will be released during December this year. Season 4 was released December 29, 2017.
It's noted that this season will feature a "Choose Your Own Adventure" style episode, similar to some children's books, the episode will allow viewers to determine their own ending to the episode. HBO most recently dipped into this type of storytelling with Steven Soderbergh's Mosiac.
"The time is right for interactive TV to become a mainstream experience."
Netflix will also be releasing an animated series based on the popular video game, Minecraft, later this year. The series hails from Telltale Games.
Netflix will continue the interactivity beyond this special Black Mirror episode. They have closed a deal for one live-action interactive series and are negotiating the rights to others, two of which will be adaptations of video games per Bloomberg's sources.
