Netflix has now confirmed the show with a 10-episode order, which we reported However, it seems that Netflix is going a different route with the show and it's not in the first-person perspective like the graphic novel. Here's the full press release.

HIGH SCHOOL'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD IN IRREVERENT APOCALYPSE DRAMEDY DAYBREAK

Logline: Based on the graphic novel by Brian Ralph, the subversive dark comedy Daybreak finds 17 year old high school outcast Josh searching for his missing girlfriend Sam in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. Joined by a ragtag group of misfits including a pyromaniac 12 year old Angelica and Josh's former high school bully Wesley, now turned pacifist samurai, Josh tries to stay alive amongst the horde of Mad Max-style gangs (evil jocks, cheerleaders turned Amazon warriors), zombie-like creatures called Ghoulies, and everything else this brave new world throws at him.

Netflix has ordered "Daybreak", a TV series adaptation of novel by Brian Ralph of the same name, SpoilerTV has learned.The graphic novel, which was released in 2013, is that it's told entirely in first-person perspective. Below is the logline:

You wake up in the rubble and see a ragged, desperate one-armed man greeting you. He takes you underground to a safe space, feeds you, offers you a place to sleep. And then announces that he’ll take the first watch. It’s not long before the peril of the jagged landscape has located you and your newfound protector and is scratching at he door. What transpires is a moment-to-moment struggle for survival—The Road meets Dawn of the Dead. Daybreak is seen through the eyes of a silent observer as he follows his protector and runs from the shadows of the imminent zombie threat.

Production begins in late-November, according to Production Weekly. The creative team behind the TV series was not revealed yet.
