Timeless - Chinatown - Advance Preview

Timeless “Chinatown” was written by the team of Tom Smuts and Nancy Baird and was directed by Greg Beeman. I’ll admit that I was surprised that neither Shawn Ryan nor Eric Kripke wrote this episode. The Lifeboat makes a few jumps in this episode, but eventually ends up in Chinatown, San Francisco on August 26, 1888. There are no historical figures in the episode, which just focuses on the core characters. There’s a really nice thread of family that runs throughout the episode.

Lucy (Abigail Spencer) defends Wyatt (Matt Lanter), and Wyatt reveals a secret. Somebody surprising punches Lucy in the mouth. Jiya (Claudia Doumit) is in a bad spot but proves that she is a lot more resourceful than we could ever have expected! Malcolm Barrett (Rufus) has a terrific scene with Matt Lanter and another really good one with Paterson Joseph (Connor). The team have to look for clues to solve a mystery – and find a message in Klingon! Connor returns a favor for Rufus.

Emma (Annie Wersching) isn’t happy. Emma does two really, really surprising things. Garcia (Goran Visnjic) tries to tell Lucy something. Connor and Denise (Sakina Jaffrey) share a nice moment talking about family.

Three people may die. Get ready for a big surprise and a heck of a cliffhanger at the end of this episode. There’s still no word on renewal for the show, but this isn’t the kind of cliffhanger that you couldn’t live with if you had to. Don’t get me wrong – I don’t want to have to write the fanfiction to finish the story, but it could be a worse cliffhanger.

I’m not teasing a lot for this episode because there are lots of great surprises and jaw drop moments that I don’t want to spoil. You won’t want to miss this episode – and be sure to watch live and tweet if you can – let’s make sure NBC knows we want more of this terrific show!!!

Just a few dialogue teases…

Why wasn’t I consulted?
It’s true. You did mess things up with us.
Don’t be cross.
Yeah. The creepy uncle!
This is my fault.
This is how I manage my anxiety.
I’m part of something important.
There’s still so much you don’t know.
Let’s find somewhere quiet to talk.
