21:25 - Dietland - Robin Weigert Joins AMC Series

Robin Weigert is forging quite a second act as a faux TV shrink. The Deadwood vet, who played Nicole Kidman’s onscreen psychiatrist in HBO’s Big Little Lies, is joining AMC’s Dietland as a therapist, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Weigert will play the series-regular role of Verena Baptist, a body-positive counselor who notoriously exposed the secrets of her family’s weight-loss program as a pyramid scheme. Her peaceful feminist principles are thrown into doubt when an underground group of vigilantes begin taking matters into their own hands and shaking up the patriarchy.

19:40 - Beast Mode - Drama Inspired by the Life of Boxer, Ann Wolfe in Development at TNT

TNT is developing a series inspired by the life of boxer and trainer Ann Wolfe, Variety has learned exclusively.

The potential series, currently titled “Beast Mode,” tells the story of a feisty, damaged woman with a “kill or be killed” mentality. While this quality makes her an excellent trainer, it tends to cause problems in the rest of her life.

Wolfe is an incredibly accomplished boxer, having compiled a professional record of 24-1 with 16 of those wins coming by way of knockout. She has also held championships in multiple boxing organizations in multiple weight classes. She is also a celebrated boxing trainer, whose students include former junior middleweight contender James Kirkland among many others. Wolfe made her acting debut in the megahit DC Entertainment film “Wonder Woman,” appearing as the Amazonian warrior Artemis.

17:45 - Universal's Dark Universe in Danger as Producers Exit

Universal's cinematic Dark Universe is in danger of being mummified.

Just five months after Universal released a much-discussed cast photo promising a slew of movies starring the likes of Johnny Depp, Russell Crowe and Javier Bardem — all drawn on characters like the Invisible Man, Wolf Man and Frankenstein in its stable of classic horror films — none of the projects appears to have a pulse.

Writer-producers Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, who were hired as the monster universe architects, have departed the franchise, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Kurtzman, whose deal with Universal lapsed in September, is focusing on television (he's an executive producer on CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery, and his overall deal with CBS involves more than a half-dozen shows), while Morgan has returned to the Fast and Furious franchise and is writing a spinoff for Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

Dietland, from Marti Noxon (UnReal), Skydance TV and AMC Studios, is set against the backdrop of the beauty industry. It follows Plum Kettle (Nash), an obese woman who is preparing for weight-loss surgery when her world is upturned by two rival feminist factions. Caught between old ideas and radical new extremes, Plum must decide for herself what it means to be a revolutionary as the “war of the sexes” becomes literal.

King will play Cheryl Crane-Murphy, a no-nonsense newscaster who tries to remain level-headed and strictly bipartisan in an ever confusing and macabre news cycle. She works alongside Margulies’ Kitty Montgomery, a wildly ambitious magazine editor.

Trollhunters is simply the first installment in the Tales of Arcadia trilogy, which will be followed by these two other shows in the years to come.

3 Below debuts next year and will focus on two royal teenage aliens and their bodyguard who escape their home planet during a coup by an evil dictator and end up crashing on Earth near Arcadia.

They’re being pursued by intergalactic bounty hunters, so while attempting to rebuild their ship and get home, the young aliens must disguise themselves and blend in as ordinary high school students.

Based on Daum’s book, Unspeakable is about a 45-year-old woman (McCormack) who deals with life and its situations with radical honesty, raw humor, and an attitude that is hard not to fall in love with. The television adaptation has added Alex Kingston (Doctor Who) and Lindsey Duncan (The Leftovers, Sherlock) to its increasing ranks, which are led by Matthew Goode and Teresa Palmer.

Based on Deborah Harkness’ All Souls Trilogy, the show, produced by Sky Original Productions and Bad Wolf, is currently shooting the first season at the new Bad Wolf studios in Cardiff, Wales, as well as on location around the U.K. and Europe.

John Callahan is serving as an executive producer on the project.

Winner of the National Book Award in 1953, “Invisible Man” is considered a classic of 20th century American literature.
