In fact, the hour also flashes back to Fairy Tale Land that was, where Rumple crosses paths with folk hero Beowulf (Torstein Bjørklund), providing some surprising new insight into Rumple’s relationship with Bae (Brandon Spink) — the first son the Dark One lost. “Episode 13 is actually going to reveal something about the relationship between Rumple and Baelfire in the very early days that we didn’t know about,” Kitsis teases.

WHILE ROBIN AND ZELENA FORM A DANGEROUS ALLIANCE, ON ABC’S ‘ONCE UPON A TIME’

“Ill-Boding Patterns” – When Gideon resumes his mission to kill Emma and become the Savior, Mr. Gold steps in to ensure that the use of dark magic does not poison his son. Meanwhile, Robin proves willing to ally himself with anyone offering the possibility of escape from Regina and Storybrooke. Hook gathers the courage to come clean to Emma, but not before she discovers he’s been keeping a secret. And in a flashback to Fairy Tale Land, the legendary folk hero Beowulf sets his sights on Rumplestiltskin after the Dark One uses his powers to defeat the ogres and win the war for humanity, on “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, MARCH 19 (8:00–9:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network.

Interview

“Hook is a changed man,” O’Donoghue stresses. “Obviously, he’s flawed and he’s done some really heinous things that he’s not proud of, but he’s definitely trying to be the best version of himself that he can be for Emma, because he really wants to change for her, make it work, try and be a hero and try to redeem himself in whatever way he can. This coming back up is a thing that really, I think, affects him and affects how he sees the ability to proceed with their relationship.”
