2nd August 2017 - Hayley Atwell Joins Cast

Hayley Atwell is set to co-star with Ewan McGregor in Disney’s “Christopher Robin,” sources tell Variety.

“Christopher Robin” follows Disney’s ongoing model of taking animated classics from its archives and giving them a live-action spin, centering on Robin (McGregor), the little boy from the “Winnie the Pooh” series, who is now all-grown-up and lost all sense of imagination. Pooh and his friends reenter Robin’s life to help him find it once again. Atwell will play Robin’s wife.

26th April 2017 - Ewan McGregor in Talks to Star as Christopher Robin

Ewan McGregor is in talks to star in Disney's Christopher Robin.

Disney's live-action film, which will be helmed by World War Z and Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster, centers on the child from the A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories — but he's all grown up.

McGregor will play the adult Christopher Robin, who's lost his sense of imagination and is a businessman focused on work and success.

The studio also is bringing in Oscar-nominated screenwriter Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) to take a new pass of the script. Alex Ross Perry wrote the screenplay, with Tom McCarthy working on a later draft.

18th November 2016 - Marc Forster to Direct + Details Revealed

Marc Forster has come aboard to direct Christopher Robin, Disney’s live-action fantasy project centering on the human character in Winnie the Pooh.

Brigham Taylor, who produced Disney’s recent mega-hit The Jungle Book, is producing Christopher Robin, which has a script by Alex Ross Perry.

The story centers on Robin, the adult version of the boy who in the A.A. Milne books shares his adventures with the animals of the Hundred Acre Wood. Robin has grown out of the joyful imagination he had as a young boy and is now a businessman who prioritizes work over his wife and daughter. With his home life on the brink, the last thing his life needs is the return of Pooh, who requires his help in finding his friends again. Robin has to find a way to help both sides or risk losing everything he holds dear.

The project is described as having strong elements of magical realism as it seeks to tell an emotional journey that is combined with a heartwarming adventure.

2nd April 2015 - Disney Developing Live Action Winnie The Pooh Adaptation

Disney has set a live-action feature adaptation of the animated classic Winnie The Pooh. This is the latest example of the studio re-purposing properties it controls, and it’s also the second time they’ve brought in a cutting-edge independent filmmaker to shape the vision. Disney has hired Alex Ross Perry, the writer-director of the Sundance indie Listen Up Philip. The focus will be Christopher Robin as an adult, which brings him back to A.A. Milne’s famous bear and the Hundred Acre Wood. Brigham Taylor is producing.
