Notorious - Kept and Broken - Review: How to score a Demo point?

Notorious delivered another solid episode this week as things are finally heating up. "Kept and Broken" tapped into some dangerous territory with their side story and made some interesting but predictable choices in the Sarah Keating murder case. The season's episode order was cut to 10 but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the remaining 5 episodes. So let's dig into the drama.

Everything started with us meeting LHL's fiercest frenemy, Callie Connors, another news anchor played by the phenomenal Missi Pyle. It was hard for me to get used to a serious-ish Missi, mostly watched her in comedic roles. Still, she executed the role perfectly. Callie was so pushy and self-righteous in her crusade that the team behind LHL really had to up their game. I was pleased to see they've showdd us imidiate repercussions of Callie crossing the line to score a good story. Missi was so amazing in her final scene, Callie announcing that her missing girl was found dead made me tear up a bit. The whole scene set up created an emotional intensity that I didn't anticipate. It was a truly powerful moment and I like the messages the show sends. I'm just sad that this isn't the shows main focus. It should be about telling these stories and the impact news outlets have these days.

In an effort to counter punch Callie Connors stories, Julia and her team researched other missing girl's cases and hit a jackpot with the Rosa Baez case. Rosa disappeared on the same day as Callie's missing girl Emily and no one cared. The way they introduced the elitism surrounding the missing girl's cases was really well handled, but than they backed away from it and created a drug raid related story out of it. Piper was excellent while exploring the story, especially her confrontations with Rosa's boyfriend. That dude was scary, though.

One thing I'm quite annoyed by is the show not exploring Megan enough. Sepideh Moafi's character seems so intriguing and it's such a shame that she barely gets decent screentime. Not to mention her escort past that wasn't even mentioned since the pilot. I hope the show takes their chance and explores her more in the remaining 4 outings.

Meanwhile, a new arrest was made in Sarah's murder case and it was no other than our dear protagonist Jake. After Oscar revealed the one night stand between Jake and Sarah on LHL, Jake turned into one of the main suspects. I liked the little scheme Julia and Jake set up for Oscar, Louis really sucker-punched him in those last seconds of LHL. It was a bit too convenient for Jake to get that letter about the storage locker leading to him getting arrested on LHL, after the murder weapon was found in the storage locker. Was it the best piece of writing certainly not but still it accelerated the story and the torture should be over next week as the promo promised the killer reveal.

What did you think of "Kept and Broken"? Did it keep you engaged or did it break your last ties to the show? As the promo promised a murder reveal, feel free to hit the comment section and share your thoughts on who is the real murder./b>
