A Midsummer’s Nightmare - Dominic Monaghan to Star in Lifetime's Shakespearean Pilot

The Lord of the Rings and Lost alum Dominic Monaghan has signed on for a key role in Lifetime’s psychological thriller pilot A Midsummer’s Nightmare, a modern-day take on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Gary Fleder (Kingdom, Zoo) is set to direct and executive produce the hourlong scripted pilot, from A+E Studios and The Firm.

Written by Anthony Jaswinski, A Midsummer’s Nightmare introduces four young lovers who steal off into the woods in pursuit of their romantic desires, but their plans are quickly thwarted when terrifying forces in the deep woods target the stranded group, using their own fantasies and darkest secrets against them. Monaghan plays Mike Puck, the laid-back and well-spoken proprietor of the Dreamland Retreat, a rustic group of rental cabins in the woods. Although initially suspicious of his young guests, Puck becomes a formidable ally when things start to go awry. In the classic play A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Shakespeare introduced Puck as the “shrewd and knavish sprite” and “that merry wanderer of the night”, a jester to Oberon, the fairy king.

The Firm’s Jeff Kwatinez and Josh Barryexecutive produce. Jaswinski serves as co-executive producer.
