The SpoilerTV Favourite TV Series Competition 2016 - Winner and Final Words

23 Sept 2016

Hey all,

Once again, a relatively quiet month. Not a huge number of votes were cast across the competition, but there were certainly times where things became tense. Throughout, it was a lot of fun, and I hope that everyone enjoyed the numerous battles over these past five weeks.

Anyway, time to announce the winner. Assuming, of course, that you haven't already seen it on the final's post.

Yes, Person of Interest was able to retain its crown, completing another clean sweep in SpoilerTV's summer competition slate. If you include the SpoilerTV Awards, it only failed to win one category/competition for which it was eligible. Last year, it won everything, so a slight step down. But that's still a remarkable achievement.

Below are the updated overall rankings for all 156 shows that have ever featured in the competition.

Despite the low voting numbers, this year's competition was great. Once again, played in the right spirit by all (with maybe only a couple of exceptions), which is what we want. This is nothing more than a thing on the internet that means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things, but is a fun way to pass the time before the onslaught of fall TV for yet another year.

I'd like to thank DarkUFO, our site owner, for continuing to provide me with the platform to run this thing, and for being able to help me out when I don't understand how some of the technical stuff we use works (hint: It happens often).

But most importantly, I want to thank everyone who took part this year, whether you got involved at the nomination stage or the voting stage - regardless of participation level - or left a comment. Without all of you, running this competition would be a lot of wasted time and wouldn't exist.

That fall season I mentioned? We're nearly a week deep in it and I feel like I'm already two months behind. But whether you're caught up on no shows or all of them, watching one or 200, we'll continue to have coverage here at SpoilerTV, with all of our usual pieces of information. If you're interested in seeing what our team think of something you watched - perhaps a new pilot or a season premiere - then check out our reviews page. (Bonus appreciation from me if you look at my specific page for reviews.) Of course, we have regular features such as Scene of the Week, Quote of the Week, Last Week in TV, Performers of the Month, Throwback Thursday and the SpoilerTV Podcast, which I co-host. And there's lots more to find around here, so if you're new, take a look around. You might like what you find.

It's the first time since 2011 that a show has retained its crown. Person of Interest, once again, has been a deserved winner. Next year, however, after ending earlier this year, can it remain as strong? It'll be seeking to win in three consecutive years, a feat no show has yet achieved. But that's for next year.

For now, though, it reigns supreme. Until next year, namaste...
