People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story - A Jury in Jail - Review

I was really excited to see that the jury was the focus of the episode. I was wondering when they were going to come into play. I think the show depicted them perfectly. The jury members thought that being a on the jury was going to be a cushy vacation and they would also able to get their 15 minutes of fame. However it was the complete opposite, the jury members had to follow strict rules and they were only allowed to see love ones once a week.

That was not the only way that jury was involved in this week’s episode. Marcia knew she was losing this case and needed to come up with a solution quick. Her solution was to get rid of the jury members, who would not rule in her favor or get the judge to rule a mistrial. However going up against Johnnie was going to be tougher than she thought. He started to do the same thing and numerous jury members got dismissed from the trial. This only proved to take a toll on the jury members as they began to go stir crazy within the hotel. I don’t blame them, 8 months is a long to be cooped in there.

Aside from the jury, the subplot of the episode was focused on Robert Kardashian. The DNA evidence that was presented to the jury didn’t really seem to sway them, but it did sway Kardashian. He began to have his doubts about O.J and even began to question O.J. himself. He finally broke down to Kris and explained that he had to stay on the case, otherwise he would be responsible for O.J. going to jail, but after that he would be done. I don’t know how much of this is true, but I guess we will have tune in to see if Kardashian actually abandons O.J.

Johnnie and Marcia finally make peace over a cup of coffee. However Johnnie still doesn’t think that’s enough and O.J. demands that Johnnie put him on the stand. Shapiro is doubtful that O.J. is ready and Johnnie decides they will do a mock trial. A fake Marcia questions O.J. and it’s really disturbing to see O.J. laughing as gives his answers. It seems the defense has lost hope in their case until the very end when the O.J. tipline gets a tip that there are tapes of Mark Fuhrman using racial slurs and saying that he was going to frame African Americans.

Favourite part of the episode:
Marcia’s take down of Lee when he uttered that ridiculous line about abuse.
