  • 07:50 - Supergirl - Episode 1.15 - Solitude - Laura Vandervoort Interview
Thanks to Ivan for the heads up.
You called Indigo a badass. How does she test Supergirl's mettle?

I think just with her sheer presence and confidence. I can't tell you how some of her abilities allow Indigo to outmaneuver Supergirl. She's a new major threat to National City and to Supergirl. I've shot an episode so far. I'm not sure where we're going with the rest of her storyline, but it's definitely been fun. Melissa [Benoist] and I have had a great time shooting it.

It seems people have been clamoring for "Smallville's" leading man, Tom Welling, to guest-star on "Supergirl" as well. Would you like to reunite with him on "Supergirl," and in what capacity?

I was actually just hanging out with Tom. A group of us went to Mexico. I had asked him about "Supergirl" and he said he hadn't heard anything on it yet. I know he's been super busy. He has his own show and had a movie come out. He's a great guy and I would love to work with him again in any capacity. It would be nice to go toe-to-toe with him because we have that history.

  • 22:45 - MOVIES: The Dark Tower - Abbey Lee In Talks To Play Tirana
UPDATE: Readers are questioning the name of the character that Lee plays. That’s what I heard they were calling this major character, and for die hard fans, I can tell you a few character qualities: she’s sexy and dangerous, she has fake human skin and cold snake-like eyes. She doesn’t come in until the seventh volume, apparently, but she’s going to be starring in the first film.

EXCLUSIVE: More casting on Sony and Media Rights Capital’s eagerly awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, which Nikolaj Arcel will direct. Abbey Lee, who is coming off Mad Max: Fury Road and who stars in Gods of Egypt, is negotiating to star in the female lead role of Tirana. She will star opposite Idris Elba, who’ll play good guy gunslinger Roland Deschain, and Matthew McConaughey, who’ll play the villainous Man in Black.

Sony will distribute what is planned to be the first in a series of Dark Tower movies. A complementary TV series is also being developed by MRC. Producing are Weed Road’s Akiva Goldsman and Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Erica Huggins. King is also a producer. That quartet has been involved in this franchise since the beginning, and MRC kept it going after Universal and then Warner Bros developed it and then dropped out. Pinkner is an exec producer.

  • 22:45 - I Love Dick - Comedy Pilot from Jill Soloway Ordered by Amazon
I’ve learned that Amazon has given a pilot order to I Love Dick, a half-hour comedy pilot directed and executive produced by Transparent creator Jill Soloway, an Emmy and DGA Award winner for her directing work on the dark Amazon comedy starring Jeffrey Tambor.

Written by playwright Sarah Gubbins based on Chris Kraus’ influential and somewhat controversial 1997 novel, I Love Dick is set in a colorful academic community in Marfa, Texas. It centers on a struggling married couple, Chris and Sylvere, and their mutual obsession with an off-putting but charismatic professor, Dick. Told in Rashomon-style shifts of POV, I Love Dick charts the unraveling of a marriage, the awakening of an artist and the reluctant deification of a man named Dick.

I Love Dick, Soloway’s followup to her award-winning Transparent, is produced by Soloway and Andrea Sperling’s newly formed Topple Productions under the company’s overall deal with Amazon Studios. Soloway and Sperling executive produce, with Gubbins co-executive producing.

I Love Dick joins two drama pilots Amazon has in pre-production, The Last Tycoon and The Interestings.

  • 22:40 - MOVIES: Disney's Mary Poppins Sequel - Emily Blunt in Talks to Star
Emily Blunt is in talks to star in Disney’s sequel to “Mary Poppins” with Rob Marshall set to direct.

John DeLuca and Marc Platt will serve as producers on the pic. Sources say Blunt has always been the favorite since all four worked together on “Into the Woods.” With Disney looking to get the film into production soon, the studio recently met with the actress to discuss the idea of playing the magical nanny.

The deal is not yet set in stone due to scheduling. News also recently broke that she is expecting her second child and that may play into her decision.

Insiders confirm the new film will take place in Depression-era London 20 years after the first film and will take story lines from P.L. Travers’ children books focusing on the magical nanny’s continued adventures with the Banks family.
