Time Travel Comedy Receives Pilot Order at FOX

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are going 2-for-2 at Fox. The network has given the second comedy greenlight this season, a pilot order to an untitled single-camera time-travel comedy (formerly In Time) from Last Man On Earth executive producers Lord and Miller. It comes on the heels of a series order to the Lord and Miller-produced live-action/animated comedy Son of Zorn starring Jason Sudeikis.

The time-travel comedy, Fox’s first half-hour pilot of 2016, was written by Julius Sharpe (Family Guy, The Cleveland Show). It revolves around three friends who find a way to travel through time for truth, justice, and riches, which complicates their lives in 2016. They visit some of the greatest moments of the past as they try to resolve their personal problems, while history and pop culture comically collide.

The project, which originally had a put pilot commitment, scored a very quick pickup after Fox brass read the script over the weekend and loved it. Lord, Miller and Sharpe executive produce. 20th Century Fox TV, where Lord and Miller are under an overall deal, is the studio.

Lord and Miller, who have 3 movie franchises on their resume, The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, are directing the Han Solo Star Wars movie. Under their 20th TV deal, they have a couple of other high-profile sales, including a Greatest American Hero remake written-directed by Rick Famuyiwa, which has a pilot production commitment at Fox.
