The Royals - Doubt Truth to Be a Liar - Review

This week’s episode of The Royals did not fail to impress. It was action packed with drama and emotion. But most importantly we finally got that big Mandy reveal that I know I’ve been waiting for.

The twin’s birthday was the main focus of this episode. Eleanor explained to Mandy that the only birthday that she actually enjoyed was when her mother was out of town. Her father threw it and her and Liam had a carnival themed party. Well one of Eleanor’s birthday wishes came true. Helena went out of town again.

Where exactly did Helena go? She went to visit Alistair’s home. Much to her surprise and the viewers Alistair greeted her. It turns out that once the paternity scandal went public, Alistair knew people would be after him so he prepared himself for when that time would come. In season 1 finale of The Royals we heard two gunshots go off in Alistair’s home, which means that he must of shot back. So Luscious basically went to jail for nothing? It’s okay I doubt anyone will miss him. Helena was so glad that Alistair was alive, but wanted nothing to do with her. He couldn’t believe the women that she had turned into. He advised her to be there for her children so she wouldn’t end up alone. He also gave her a sample of his blood to check to see if the twins were really his. After leaving Alistair’s house the Queen decided that instead of rushing the sample to a lab, she would put it away for hiding? I honestly just don’t get her. If they aren’t Alistair’s children, she could still put her succession plan into place and be the ruling Queen of England until she feels that Liam is ready to be king. This way she would get what she wants and rebuild her family.

Quite honestly Liam didn’t seem to care too much about his birthday. He just showed up to the party to have a good time. Also making another appearance is the polo girl Wilhelmina. Liam spent majority of the party flirting and playing games with her. How awesome was that Drunk Tank? If only we all could throw an amazing party like evil Mandy. Liam growing closer to Wilhelmina wasn’t even the most important part of his story this week. It was actually the blonde cocktail waitress. It was very apparent that the two had some kind of past when she couldn’t take her eyes off of Liam and dropped the serving tray. I just assumed they had a one night stand. Of course The Royals threw me for another loop, because it turns out that she was the one who put the domino necklace on Liam. She didn’t exactly tell him who she was. I think she is somehow connected to Robert? Maybe his ex girlfriend? Only time will tell.

Len’s story broke my heart this week. I couldn’t hold back the tears as I watched her get her heart broken for the millionth time. At the start of the episode she was still in her honeymoon bliss with Mandy. Mandy then convinced Len to wear the cursed diamond to her birthday party. Len agrees to this idea, but has no idea what Mandy’s true intentions are. Jasper attempts to warn Len about Mandy, but she insists that he leave her alone. At the carnival themed birthday party Mandy keeps feeding Len drinks in hopes of getting her drunk so she could be able to steal the diamond, which has been made into a necklace for the night. Mandy puts on a good act, she makes Len believe that she truly has feelings for, but Jasper can see right through this. He again tries to worm Len away from Mandy, but she just won’t have it. Instead her and Mandy sneak off into her room so Len can properly thank her for the party. In a girly moment Mandy asks Len “If she could try on the necklace?” Len lets her and then Mandy attempts to put the necklace back on Len. She plays the “drunk” card and let the necklace slip through her fingers. The necklace winds up on the floor and both girls reach down to pick it up. This is when the switch is made. Mandy hands Len back a fake replica of the necklace and hides the real one. After Len finishes thanking Mandy, she sneaks off letting Jasper know she went through with the plan. Jasper follows Mandy into the tunnels and has her trapped so she cannot leave. Little does he know that Len had also followed the both of them. She insists to know what is going on and Jasper finally explains to her how he knows Mandy and why he came to work at the palace. Len then tells Jasper and Mandy “It’s not even my diamond it’s the peoples.” Jasper makes Mandy give back the diamond and then Len says “If you really wanted something of mine then here.” She hands Mandy the earrings that her grandmother gave her on last week’s episode. Mandy has no issue taking them and demands that Jasper let her free. He lets her go and also leaves with her. Len is left standing there alone and heartbroken.

Jasper on the other hand chases after Mandy insisting that she come back to the palace. “You can come back to the palace with me, you can tell her you changed your mind. You can tell her literally, nothing else matters because you will give up everything for a second chance with her.” Mandy doesn’t really care about Len’s feelings and just wants to get back to Vegas to sell the stupid earrings. Jasper returns to the palace and watches on as Eleanor sits in one of the bumper cars drowning her sorrows. The ironic thing to all this was, Jasper was telling Mandy to say is what he truly feels, but there’s no way he regain Eleanor’s trust now. Or can he? There was also another person watching Eleanor, Helena. However she saw Jasper looking at Eleanor and like the rest of the world she can tell that he is in love with her. This is her chance to take Alistair’s advice and mend fences with her children. I for one am hoping she takes this opportunity and helps her daughter be with her true love.

Side notes:
-Cyrus is in love?
-He’s going to propose to Violet. What?
-Imogen was back and sober. Maybe she can actually be Eleanor’s friend and not some con artist who breaks her heart?
-I’m so sick of seeing Eleanor heartbroken, she needs to be happy.

Do you think Cyrus is actually in love? Who do think the blonde mystery girl is? Will Helena help Jasper win over her daughter? How awful do you feel for Len? What did you think of this week’s episode? Comment below!
