Wicked City - Running With the Devil - Advance Preview

1 Nov 2015

Next Tuesday, Wicked City will continue its first season on ABC with "Running With the Devil". Last week, the pilot was very good, it did a great job at introducing all the characters and Ed Westwick and Erika Christensen totally slayed it in the pilot. The show has definitely some potential. (Plus the soundtrack is amazing)

Westwick and Christensen’s parts were definitely the best of the episode. They already have a great chemistry on screen and it was just the pilot. The twist about Betty was nicely written and totally surprised me. I didn't saw her dark side coming (poor spider), and now Kent will help her explore this side or maybe it will frighten her too much ?
Westwick was particularly amazing in the pilot, I really didn’t expect him to be so good but he portrays the two faces of the psychopath so well, charming and terrifying.
The only weak part of the pilot was the police storylines. I really didn’t care much for Jack and Paco. Their conflict and troubled relationship is a current things on TV, there’s nothing new here and so it's not that much interesting. And the Roth family and Jack's affair, well I hope it’ll turn out better than most of the usual cop family drama. Only Det Kubek was interesting enough, as an undercover cop. I love her sassy attitude.

Karen McClaren, played by the delicious Taissa Farmiga was also one of the highlight of the episode. Her part was very good. I’m very interested in her character and her future possible storylines. She’s the link between Kent, the serial killer and the detectives, and she’s an aspiring journalist so there’s definitely room for her to grow in the show.
But the best part about Wicked City is that it’s set in the 80’s. The settings, the clothes, the hair and mostly the music, everything was perfect in pilot. It really added something different to the show and I’m looking forward exploring this time.
"Running With the Devil" will continue with the amazing soundtrack and the perfect 80’s settings and costumes. But the best part will be, just like in the premiere and it’s actually the whole concept of the show : the chase game between Kent the killer and the detectives. It’s really the most interesting part of the show, and the writers perfectly use this tool. The episode is well constructed and even more than last week, the detectives are getting closer to Kent ! It’s really exciting, and it demonstrates just how good they all are at their jobs.

And here are some teasers about "Running With the Devil" :
-"Running With the Devil" will pick up after after last week ending, with Kent leaving the club with his two girls Mallory and Betty while the police looked for Karen McClaren.
- Jack will visit the hospital where Betty works, and the whole situation will make her much uncomfortable.
- Karen McClaren had some help to escape the club but her experience with a serial killer (or near experience) has really shaken her up. But Jack Roth will need her help one more time.
- There will be some very sexy scenes with girl on girl actions ! I’m always surprised by how dark and kinky this show can be while airing on ABC.
- We will meet with a videoclip dancer ! Yep
- There will be blood ! Someone getting murdered
- A character will end up hurt and Betty still stitch him/her up. She’s a pretty good nurse.
- In this episode, Betty will show a more insecure and jealous side of her personality. She has this strong connection with Kent, and he also has it with her but as he’s a psychopath, it’s not easy to communicate with him. And Betty has also some trust issues from her sides so there will be complications in their new relationship.
- Best scene of the episode : Westwick getting up from bed in briefs : )
- MTV will be mentioned ! It’s all new for them.
- Det Kubek might be my favorite character. Wydra delivers all of her lines with such perfection. Her sassy, badass and sexy attitude is always a highlight in the episode.
- A new body will be discovered !

Don’t miss "Running With the Devil" this Tuesday on ABC ! How excited about it ? Did you enjoy the pilot ? Do you think Kent will reveal his dark secrets to Betty soon ? How much did you enjoy Taissa Farmiga’s part ? Hit the comments !
And finally the quotes game ! Guess from which characters those quote are ! (Each quote is from one different character)

1- "I don’t feel good about this"
2- "I can’t have a scar, I’m an actress"
3- "I’m thinking about getting back home"
4- "Put it all down on paper. All of it"
5- "I’m tired to be collateral damage"
6- "Mark Hamill is so cute"
7- "This is the most cutting edge technology on Earth"
8- "I don’t remember you being so needy"
9- "Only in Hollywood"
10- "All roads lead back to boys"
