  • 04:30 - The Crusaders - FOX Gives Script Commitment to Drama Produced by Idris Elba
Thomas Ikimi will pen the script for the drama from Legendary TV and di Bonaventura Television.

Fox is expanding its relationship with Idris Elba.

In a competitive situation, the network has handed out a script order to The Crusaders, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The drama, which the Luther star will executive produce, revolves around an extended family of second-generation Africans living in the U.S. who specialize in locating and returning valuable objects stolen from Africa during its colonial occupation.

  • 03:50 - King Kong On Move To Warner Bros, Presaging Godzilla Monster Matchup
EXCLUSIVE: In a movie move that portends a clash of giant monsters, Legendary Pictures’ Thomas Tull is moving his untitled Skull Island King Kong film to Warner Bros. This is being done to unite the property with Legendary’s other giant franchise, Godzilla. In what would be a pretty epic pairing, the Godzilla sequel that is in the works will be followed by a movie that pits the giant ape versus the giant fire breathing reptile. I’m told this is happening very quickly with moves going all the way to Japan, where Godzilla rights holder Toho is based. Legendary, which moved from Warner Bros to Universal, had developed the Skull Island film at the latter studio. It is unclear at the moment what Universal’s position will be, but I heard the studio move is being done because it is just easier to have all the pieces under one roof, something that Marvel Studios has done with superheroes like The Hulk. King Kongis in the public domain, while Legendary got the Godzilla rights from Toho.

  • 03:45 - Downward Dog - Comedy Gets Pilot Production Order at ABC
Legendary TV has nabbed a pilot production order from ABC for comedy “Downward Dog.”

Hodges and Killen will exec produce the series for Legendary and ABC Studios, along with Mosaic Media Group’s Jimmy Miller and Sam Hansen and Animal Media’s Kathy Dziubek.

“Very rarely have I ever seen something so well-conceived, and then well-executed. Michael and Samm have imagined a perfect blend of comedy, observation, and heart. I couldn’t be more excited about this,” said Miller. Mosaic Media Group set a first-look development pact with Legendary TV late last year.

  • 00:00 - Canary - Drama In Deveopment at ABC; Described as 'Homeland meets Erin Brockovich'
After a series of showrunner assignments, Zack Estrin is focusing on development this season under his overall deal at ABC Studios. He has sold Canary, a dramatic thriller, to ABC.

Described as “Homeland meets Erin Brockovich,” Canary follows a woman who risks everything to help a whistleblower come forward with secret information that will impact the lives of millions.
