The Middle - Not Your Brother's Drop Off - Advance Preview

23 Sept 2015

Previously on The Middle: The finale of The Middle saw the year of Sue come to end with a satisfying and heart-warming tribute to Sue's years in High School. Axel and Devin remained together despite Axel's fears of her seeing other guys. Brick continued to show how irresponsible he is, and Frankie and Mike found it hard it accept that their daughter is heading to college.

The premiere episode, “Not Your Brother's Drop Off” focuses on Sue and her journey from home to college. Whilst on the road, things take an unexpected turn, which could ruin Sue's entire planned iconic moment. But before they set off, things aren't going much better at home.

Sue can't contain her excitement that she will soon be leaving for college. She constantly reminds both Frankie and Mike every day - counting down since her graduation. Just a day before they set off to take her, she has to make a dramatic appearance change after part of her hair burns off. But, Sue surprisingly takes it rather well and thinks the change could be good for her.

Eden Sher continues to shine as Sue and just seeing her throughout the episode portray Sue so brilliantly - seven years in - makes me really annoyed that she didn't and hasn't received an Emmy nomination yet. The Middle is so underrated, and so are the actors. The entire ensemble is great, and it's about time they got the recognition they deserve, especially Eden. Who without her and Sue, the show wouldn't be the same.

During the episode, both Mike and Frankie are having a hard time dealing with Sue's impending departure. Mike has been teaching Sue life lessons she'll need to know in order to survive in the real world without him or Frankie to help her. He's been tough on her, but it's all because he will miss her, and is struggling to deal with her leaving for college. Frankie on the other hand is handling things better and it might shock you as to how well.

Elsewhere, Brick's girlfriend Cindy wants to take things to the next level, and so he enlists Axel's help in finding out what that means. Brick also has an announcement for the whole family, something that Sue is not happy about.

A lot more happens, but that's all I'm going to give you as I don't watch to spoil anything. Below though are a few dialogue teasers.

"This right now is the year of the Colts."

"My hair is part of my identity."

"I am just preparing you for a lifetime of men who are going to try and get away from you fast."

"The last time I checked, there weren't too many relaxing emergencies."

"Dropping your only daughter of at college, that must be a pretty emotional time for you."
