Scene Of The Week - August 9, 2015 - POLL

9 Aug 2015

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

BABY DADDY, "It's a Nice Day for a Wheeler Wedding", August 5, 2015, Actors: Derek Theler, Chelsea Kane and more, The Scene: Riley and Danny get together
Justyna K:
I haven't been watching the show regularly but I've always had a soft spot for these two. And the fact that the love triangle (which I truly hate in every show) is finally over certainly makes me excited for the next season. It's a very charming and funny series and now that everything's finally in its place, I can't wait to just watch for all the hilarious moments and heartwarming family stories. This was a very lovely scene, especially meaningful as it gave Ben the chance to show what a great friend and brother he can be, when he chooses to fight for a happy ending for the two people he loves. And now Danny and Riley are a couple, as many fans would say, finally! No matter what happens with the sudden proposal, it's good to see the two getting their chance and I can't wait to see them happy next season. Kudos to cast and crew. Till the next season!
Klutzy Girl: At the wedding, Ben encourages Danny to act on his feelings for Riley. I'm so happy that Danny/Riley are finally together, and although I'm not sure how this proposal is going to turn out, I can't wait to see where their relationship goes. And Ben's speech was perfect. The kiss was amazing. I'm so excited for season five!

HANNIBAL, "And the Woman Clothed in Sun", August 8, 2015, Actors: Richard Armitage, Rutina Wesley, The Scene: Francis and Reba share a moment
Darth Locke:
Francis Dolarhyde watches Reba McClane experience touching and listening the body and heart of a Tiger! Such a GREAT episode! The strongest one in the Red Dragon bunch so far. But the way this whole scene was executed, including connecting the "mouth of the beast" narrative to the Tiger petting, was just so well acted and visually stunning and vibrant scene.

HUMANS, "Episode 8", August 2, 2015, Actors: Colin Morgan, Emily Berrington and more, The Scenes: Leo and his family bring Max back & Niska double crosses both families
Justyna K:
What a great finale for such an impressive season! I'm so glad there's going to be another one. Once again, my most memorable scene is the one where Leo and his family connect their minds in order to save Max. And this time it works, they bring him back against all odds. Max is such a kind, good character and I love his bond with Leo, so happy he's okay! The moment is really beautifully shot, with the flashes from everyone's past as they all gather around the tree ("of life"). Their decision changes everything as they manage to unlock the secret how to open other Synths' minds. But for me, that wasn't even the most meaningful part of the scene, it was Karen's choice in the end. She betrayed their trust once again but then Mia convinced her to help. And the thing is, love seems like an impossible emotion for Synths to feel, yet, it truly seemed like it was Karen's love for Leo that made her change her mind in the scene. And if it's love, then isn't that humanity after all? Brilliant performance by the entire cast, with a shout-out to Colin Morgan and Ruth Bradley for all the emotional interactions in the finale. Kudos! Can't wait for season 2.
Sandi: Oh, George taught her well in those short few hours they spent together alright; how to read between the words spoken, the gestures people do or don't make in which subtitles can be pick up on....essentially what makes us human. Though I think he may be turning in his grave at how well she is implementing his wise words. Niska's body language betrayed nothing as she innocently handed over the white hard drive to Laura saying that the whole group trusted her to be the only one to keep their secret safe. I can't wait to see if there is anything on that drive at all, and to see what kind of army she will build with the code she has on the black hard drive she has in her own possession. I dearly hope that she rescues Odi from being scrapped, I would love to see him next season too. He is carrying memories of George after all, which could be interesting if Niska wants to stay in contact with him in some way after their brief, but hugely important, bonding period this season. Also picked by Jamie Coudeville

MELISSA AND JOEY, "Double Happiness", August 5, 2015, Actors: Melissa Joan Hart, Joey Lawrence and more, The Scene: The final scene
Justyna K:
I love happy endings. It's what I always wish for the characters on my shows. That after all their struggles and craziness on the way, when the story ends, it feels like they're going to be okay and their adventures will continue. And it certainly was like that for Melissa and Joey. The pregnancy, Mel ready for senate campaign, Lennox and Zander's engagement, Joey's book, Ryder going off to the navy - it may seem like too much, but it's also kind of perfect for the show. And with Joey and Melissa planning to hire a nanny for their twins it even feels like a full circle for the story. With the family hug in the last shot - it was beautiful ending for a lovely show. Kudos!
Klutzy girl: The whole family hugs at the end after everything comes full circle for them, with Mel wanting to hire a nanny for her and Joe's unborn twins. I'm going to miss this show but that was the perfect ending. Also picked by Ben L

MR. ROBOT, "eps1.6_v1ew-s0urce.flv", August 5, 2015, Actors: Rami Malek, Frankie Shaw
The Scene: The opening scene
Jimmy Ryan:
The first scene of the episode where we saw a flashback to when Elliot met Shayla.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, "Last Dance", August 4, 2015, Actors: Sasha Pieterse and more
The Scene: Allison comes face to face with Charles
Jamie Coudeville:
Even though we didn't get to see who he was, I still liked this scene a lot. I'm so glad we're finally going to get the answers we've all been waiting for. I hope Allison gets the answers she's looking for.

RAY DONOVAN, "Breakfast of Champions", August 2, 2015, Actor: Liev Schreiber
The Scene: Ray finds his lost dog outside his house
Darth Locke:
Ray comes home to find the lost and found and lost again dog waiting outside his house.

SUITS, "Hitting Home", August 5, 2015, Actors: Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, The Scene: Harvey and Louis fight at the end
Laura M:
The final scene of the episode, Louis screaming at Harvey and him trying to calm him down. I do believe Harvey was about to tell him about Esther, but Louis being blinded by what he thinks he keeps throwing verbal punches at Harvey, and finally he reacts and punches him. It was one of the best performances by Macht and Hoffman and it reminded me of the bathroom scene in s2 right after Donna's mock trial. I can't think how the writers are going to make these 2 being ok again.
Jimmy Ryan: Harvey and Louis fight verbally and then physically when Louis learns Harvey had slept with his sister. Not only was this scene, the final scene in the episode, beautifully constructed, the lead-up to it was outstanding.
Ben L: That final scene made me scream so loud!

TEEN WOLF, "Strange Frequencies", August 3, 2015, Actors: Arden Cho, Tamlyn Tomita
The Scene: Kira's mom surprise attacks her
A Dahne:
I have been waiting for Kira to get some training from her mom and this was done exceptionally well. I loved the overhead shots in particular. They made the action that much better. I only wish the scene had lasted longer. Also picked by Jamie Coudeville

TRUE DETECTIVE, "Black Maps and Motel Rooms", August 2, 2015, Actors: Taylor Kitsch, James Frain, The Scene: Kevin Burris shoots Paul Woodrugh
Darth Locke:
Kevin Burris shoots and most likely kills Paul Woodrugh. After nearly escaping an underground tunnel system full of enemies, Paul was fatally shot right after he comes outside through a door. There was something so disheartening and yet so beautifully film noir about the way the final shots of that scene are done due to the lighting, the placement of Paul's body, and the way the stairwell from off the empty street that leads down to where Paul's body rests that makes everything more abstract and off center. Also picked by DarkUFO and Ben L
