Baby Daddy - It’s a Nice Day For a Wheeler Wedding - Review: “Put a Ring On It”

Obviously, this review has spoilers about who Riley chose so if you haven't watched the finale yet, go do that and then head back over here and join the party where we'll be discussing everything that went down! Ok leave now if you don't want to know...

....ok everyone, finally - DANNY AND RILEY!!!! Can we just have a giant party where all the frustrated Danny and Riley shippers/fans can come together and celebrate?? Ok it'll be in the comments section and everyone's invited!! But first let's talk about everything that happened in this episode!

First, let me start by saying I loved this episode, but I watched it right after last week’s Bachelor/Bachelorette party episode, and I LOVED that episode. I enjoyed both episodes in different ways and for different reasons but this season, nothing can compare to last week for me. Where last weeks episode was filled with witty and hilarious writing, this week was much more relationship/story focused. I didn’t find this episode as funny as some others but that’s ok because it needed to be that way. However, there were a couple of things that I was disappointed with and some surprises that I was not expecting. I thought for sure that Bonnie and Brad would get married and I’m actually way more upset than I thought I would be that they didn’t. Hopefully we’ll still get to see the wedding eventually because I think it would just be wonderful and hilarious, those two are really something! I was also disappointed that they didn't use Tucker a bit more. He’s a total scene stealer and he had a very minimal role in this episode as Bonnie's impromptu wedding planner, along with guest star Reba McEntire. I understand other characters had the priority this week but I still wish we’d seen a bit more of him.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about all the fantastic things that happened! One of my favorite scenes was when Bonnie hit Ben with some serious truth and told him to get it together and realize that Danny has been nothing but supportive of Riley and Ben’s happiness, even to his own detriment. This really turned Ben around and was exactly what he needed to hear to get himself over this, at least as over it as Ben can be. Surprisingly, I actually thought that Ben was very justified in his feelings up until this point. He reacted rather childishly at first, as expected, but once he explained himself I could see where he was coming from. It was less about Riley and more about him feeling like an idiot and embarrassed because everyone knew but him. I also want to talk about what an amazing job Jean-Luc Bilodeau did in this episode. I thought he perfectly walked the line of hurt, yet supportive, in his role as reluctant matchmaker. I was so impressed with how Ben handled everything, it was totally unexpected and showed a lot of growth from him.

Last, but definitely not least, let’s talk about Danny and Riley. I loved the throwbacks they included with the treehouse and the superhero costume. All season the writers have been reminding us about all the reasons Danny and Riley belong together but it was nice to see them trying to relive some of their iconic moments. It also brought some humor, and was classic Riley and Danny, when nothing ended up working out quite right. I think we all saw it coming that Danny would be the one proposing to Riley and I don’t hate it, I just think it’s dangerous by kind of setting them up for failure. The way I see it, the proposal can go a few ways. Riley either says yes and they get married without even dating, which would be fine I guess because it’s not like they don’t know each other at all, or Riley says no (which I think is more likely) and Danny ends up taking it personally and it becomes something that causes problems for them or they can’t get past. I would have been content with them just getting together but I guess they needed something huge because it’s a finale. I do feel comforted though because according to this, Danny and Riley were meant to be from the start and next season is going to be all about them as a long-term couple! I’m so excited, I need next season to be here right now! Overall, I thought this was a great finale and I’m so happy that the era of Danny and Riley is finally here after years of waiting!

It’s been so fun writing these reviews every week! Baby Daddy, and season 4B particularly, will always hold a special place in my heart as it’s the first show I ever reviewed for SpoilerTV. You guys have made this so great and fun! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and for talking with me about this great show every week! I'll miss you between now and the start of season 5 but it's not over yet! As usual, here are some of my favorite lines from this episode:

“I have to say Mrs. Wheeler, you’re relationship with Brad makes me believe in miracles.” - Tucker

“I can’t believe you told him on a weekend that’s supposed to be all about me! You’re so selfish!” - Bonnie

“If you screw up my wedding we’ll both regret the day you were born!” - Bonnie

“I cannot control myself around carbs, I begged you not to keep bread in the house!” - Brad

“Wow! I knew you liked ‘em young but do you have to pack this one a lunch for school?” - Charlotte

“You kept that? The whole time we were dating? Kind of seems like a red flag don’t you think?” - Ben

“Oh joy, I’m part of the plan!” - Ben

“She broke up with me for you. You win, Danny. Not me, you. I’m the giant loser here.” - Ben
“You always know what to say to make me feel better.” - Danny

“It apparently takes him a little longer to get into his tights than it used to.” - Ben

“I don’t know how you guys do it. I hate helping people.” - Ben

“That wasn’t me! I was making out with Tanya’s husband in the bushes!” - Bonnie

“Here’s the thing about this love story that’s so amazing, despite all it’s twists and turns, it has endured for almost twenty years” - Ben
“Who is he talking about?” - Brad

“So, despite our tremendous efforts and back-breaking work to put this event on, it looks like we won't even be having a wedding today but feel free to grab a bag of rice on your way out, you can boil that up later.” - Tucker

Anyways, I have been absolutely bursting to talk to you all about this episode and now we finally can!! So, without further adieu, let's have a party in the comments to celebrate Danny and Riley! There's so much to talk about! What do you think will happen next? Will Riley accept Danny's proposal or is this all too much, too soon? Will Bonnie and Brad ever get their dream wedding? Do you feel bad for Ben? Are you impressed with the way he's handled everything? Hit the comments and let me know all your thoughts on this great finale! Thanks for reading and see you next season!!
