  • 20:20 - Rookie Blue - Season 6 Finale - Post Mortem
TTVJ: What did it feel like knowing this was your last episode as showrunner?

Tassie Cameron: It was very emotional. It was hard and weird and sad and good. I sat in the church watching those two say those vows that we all worked so hard to get right, and the party afterwards at the cabin, we were all there for it. It was a very emotional experience. I felt so proud of our cast and our team and it was a very positive way to end my run on that show.

TTVJ: How hard was it to balance the fact that you didn’t know for sure if this was going to be a series or season finale?

TC: It was tricky because we really didn’t know, and we still don’t know, whether the show was coming back. But I felt like we needed to tie that up in a way that would be satisfying if it didn’t come back and I hoped that the last act of the episode would show that there are so many more potential stories for the future. You’re kind of shaking everything up, some people are leaving, new people are arriving, these guys are going to be training officers. We tried to balance it out that way.

I wanted to wrap up that Sam and Andy love story in a way I felt proud of and that I wanted to do from the very beginning.

  • 04:15 - Animal Kingdom - TNT Pilot - Ellen Barkin & Scott Speedman Join Cast
Ellen Barkin (Sea of Love) and Scott Speedman (The Strangers) have been cast as leads in TNT’s drama pilot Animal Kingdom, from John Wells Prods. in association with Warner Horizon Television. The pilot, which is set to begin shooting next month in Los Angeles, centers on 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody who moves in with his wild, freewheeling relatives — grandmother (Barkin) and uncles — in their Southern California beach town when his mother ODs. He is pulled into their life of indulgence and excess and soon discovers that it’s all being funded by criminal activities.

Barkin plays Janine “Smurf ” Cody, a working-class mom with what appears to be a picket-fence lifestyle who is actually the boot-tough matriarch of an organized crime family and has enough authority to make even the most dangerous men tremble in her presence. Speedman plays Cody’s son and Josh’s uncle Barry “Baz” Brown. Adopted by the Cody family when he was 12, Baz now leads the group in their armed robberies, but he also thinks of breaking away from a life of crime.

  • 04:00 - Gods and Secrets - Superhero Indie Drama - Cast Announced *UPDATED*
“Twilight” stars Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone lead the ensemble, which includes Diamond Dallas Page
Denise Richards and Jane Seymour have joined the cast of “Adi Shankar’s Gods and Secrets,” which marks the directorial debut of the executive producer behind “Dredd,” “The Grey” and “Lone Survivor,” TheWrap has learned.

“Twilight” stars Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone lead an ensemble that also includes “You’re Next” heroine Sharni Vinson, “Transparent” actress Alexandra Billings, comedian Andy Milonakis and WWE legend ‘Diamond’ Dallas Page.

Shankar and his longtime collaborator Stewart Yost are co-directing “Gods and Secrets,” which explores the darker ramifications of a world filled with superheroes — for the people they protect and the famous heroes themselves. The dark genre project aims to put a fresh spin on iconic superhero tropes and mythos by creating a world that will shock and surprise both new and longtime comic fans.

Shawn Deloache (“New Adventures of Peter and Wendy”) wrote the script, and the indie will be produced by Jenni Powell and Discourse Productions.

Shankar recently produced the “Power/Rangers” fan film starring James Van Der Beek that set the Internet on fire, as well as prior “bootlegs” such as “The Punisher: Dirty Laundry,” “Venom: Truth in Journalism” and “James Bond: In Service of Nothing.”

Shankar’s acting career has also been heating up following an appearance in “The Voices” alongside Ryan Reynolds, though it’s unclear whether he’ll take a role in “Gods and Secrets.”

  • 03:45 - Underground - John Legend Signs on as Executive Producer & Overseer of the Score / Soundtrack
John Legend and his Get Lifted prods have signed on to WGN America’s straight-to-series drama Underground. Legend, with his Get Lifted partners Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius will executive produce, and oversee the score, soundtrack and all music aspects of the series. Kanye West had been in talks for a role on the music side of the series, but a deal never materialized. The announcement was made today by Matt Cherniss, President and General Manager, WGN America and Tribune Studios, during the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

Underground, from Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios, follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a Georgia plantation to cross 600 miles to freedom, aided along the way by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad, as they evade those tasked with bringing them back, dead or alive. Production is currently underway in Baton Rouge, LA, for premiere in 2016 on WGN America.

“We are excited to join forces with WGN America and Sony and the talented team of writers and producers on this powerful project that we believe will inspire us all,” said Legend. “This series has a unique opportunity to speak to the passion and courage of those who risked it all as they raced to freedom. We are honored to bring our creative vision to this thrilling project.”

  • 03:30 - Preacher - Pilot Preview
Even though Preacher is very dark and graphic -the first scene ends with splashing blood and guts all over the place- what may be different with this adaptation from the previous ones is the emphasis on comedy. It’s a lot of fun all along and that’s why it stands out as something we’re not that used to, at least in this genre and format. With Seth Rogen producing and directing the pilot, AMC made it pretty clear: they want it entertaining and fucked up. So it is. I don’t want to go too far in comparisons but let me tell you there’s a Tarantino-esque vibe to it. It requires a great sense of humor, that’s for sure. And it doesn’t need to be taken too seriously. Secondary characters who populate the small town where Jesse Custer lives are all very strange, devious, the same way as the people of Bon Temps were. They offer great laughs and some kind of astonishment. Vampire Cassidy is well… outrageous! I totally picture Joseph Gilgun in the role. Tulip could be compared to Michonne from The Walking Dead, but crazier.
