ABC’s Once Upon A Time is heading to Camelot for its upcoming Season 5, and a couple of weeks ago it found its King Arthur in Liam Garrigan. Now the series has inked deals for more recurring guest roles that will join him: Elliot Knight has been tapped to play Merlin and Joana Metrass has been set to play Guinevere. In addition, Andrew Jenkins has nabbed the guest role of Percival, one of Arthur’s most loyal knights.

  1. Isn't Merlin supposed to be old?

  2. Typically in most shows that have had a Merlin he has been old, not young.

  3. Yes! I'm liking young afroamerican Merlin! And the lady is gorgeous!

  4. That's what I thought, which is interesting why they chose to make him young in this.

  5. I was also wondering that. They were looking for a 35-40 year-old man, weren't they? Anyway, I don't know this actor but I hope he'll be good, he's symphatic for me

  6. Don't know any of them, although I've had Sinbad on my laptop waiting to be watched for a while now.

  7. I didn't like the idea of Merlin being black, but now I see the actor they chose, I'm hopeful. I don't know any of these actors, but they seem to be good choices by their appearance.

  8. AAAAAAAAAAA! These casting news will kill me.

  9. OMG! I LOVE Elliot Knight! Since he's playing Merlin, I'm hoping he sticks around the whole season(:

  10. After 4 seasons of non-traditional castings, changing race, gender, and age, why is anyone still asking "isn't_____supposed to be____?"

It's obvious by now that OUAT doesn't concern themselves with strict adherence to such things.

  11. No. I always wanted that he'll be young, good looking dude.

  12. I don't know... If this was any other show I would be thrilled at the idea of racially diverse Camelot. Unfortunately, OUAT has a pretty crappy track record when it comes to racial characters.

  13. Elliot Knight was in HTGAWM, he played Michaela's fiancè. I'm not very convinced about him, I was hoping they would cast Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje since they've been casting a lot of actors who were in Lost...

  14. I don't like this Merlin,sorry.Then again,i'm biased towards Colin Morgan.

  15. Young or old Merlin, i am not fussed but i dont think much of the casting of him, as i have seen him on something, and he wasnt that good.
We need GOOD actors. Last disappointing actor for me was Robin Hood/Sean Maguire sadly (but then again i knew that from seeing him on things over here in the UK)

  16. Joana Metrass,WOW that is all, May need to rethink my Regina fandom. As to Merlin being old, Jennifer Morrison is actually older than Ginnfer Goodwin in real life. So I'm sure they will find an explanation for that. Surely, the most powerful magician in the Enchanted Forest would know a spell or two to give himself young?

    Guenièvre is carrément canon...

  18. Elliot Knight is 25
    Joana Metrass is 26
    Liam Garrigan is 33
    Andrew Jenkins is 26

  19. I'm not sure if I like the new actors, but it won't help to get higher ratings. In my opinion, this season's ratings are gonna fall really bad. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

    all cool

  21. I'm really digging these castings. And I have no issue with Merlin being old. A young actor didn't hold the BBC show back. Just as long as they don't have the same approach with the godawful fake beard.
One question, unrelated to these castings. I was just on the OUAT wiki page. Why is the rest of the cast listed as regulars for season 5, but Ginnifer Goodwin is listed as 'TBA'? Is she not returning?

  22. Well, "Merlin" had Colin Morgan, and he was 22 when that started.

The story is not gonna help the ratings, and seems like the actors aren't either.

  24. once has a knack for finding good actors

  25. BUT, once has a knack for finding good actors

  26. "Merlin" was an origin story about Merlin and he was young.

  27. You mean ARTHUR and Guinevere

    ReplyDelete
  28. You don't get rid of Merlin LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah Colin IS Merlin for me and always will be

    ReplyDelete
  30. Merlin's immortal so there's a reason he's young LOL

  31. Have you ever read the story? (Or watch any of the movies?)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wasn't Lancelot just a fling and Arthur her true love?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wonderful casting news. Really excited to see Camelot and these characters and how it relates to Dark Emma's story arc.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good, it's on the main page and the season 5 page though. Just gonna hope I'm worrying over nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't know if Lancelot was her try love. But Arthur definitely wasn't

    ReplyDelete
  36. He was pretty mediocre on HTGAWM. I mean, he wasn't bad, but wasn't amazing either.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So what? If the character is poorly written as most POC characters in OUAT are then it really isn't going to matter how good the actor is.
