Heroes Reborn - Tim Kring Interviews *Updated*

12 Jul 2015

Updated 12th July: New interview added.
The upfront trailer indicated that Claire is dead. Are you going to get into how you weren't able to "save the cheerleader"? How will her absence be explained?
Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) is a key [returning] character who is still very much dealing with the death of his daughter and it is a part of his story. You’re watching a man dealing with the idea of the loss of his daughter that happened prior to our story. We deal directly with that that death. Her death is the key part of the plot.

How much does her death kick off the new story?
To the extent that he is reawaked on this mystery in the pilot and that's what drives him to discover the truth about what’s happening in the world — through this mystery of what happened to his daughter. It’s the portal of his story that becomes the mystery, thriller story for him: "I need to know what happened to my daughter."

Christine Rose (Angela) is back but Adrian Pasdar (Nathan) and Milo Ventimiglia (Peter) will not be returning. Why bring her back but not the others?
Nathan Petrelli was killed in the fourth season so try as I may, because I love Adrian, I couldn't figure out how to do that without betraying the core mythology of the show. As for Milo, we've had discussions about how and when [he could come back] and we couldn’t work out the timing. But Angela plays a key Machiavellian character in this plot. She did have a power that was very interesting to our plot.

DEADLINE: So, with so many unknowns about Heroes Reborn, what can we expect from this week’s panel? Any surprises?
TIM KRING:
I’ll just tell you that on the panel, we’re going to show an extended trailer of Heroes Reborn and we are going to show the whole first episode from Dark Matters, the digital prequel. It is the prequel that sort of leads up to the show itself, and it does in fact have a central character that will be in the show itself played by Henry Zebrowski. He’s the star of the digital series, and he will become a major character in the series itself. Dark Matter tells a story that connects up with the show in a really unique way. I don’t think anybody’s ever quite done a series that connects up to the show in the way this does. We’re obviously really looking forward to people seeing it, Hall H is just an extremely surreal experience.

DEADLINE: Heroes Reborn is set for a 13-episode run but do you see a way that could continue ever further?
KRING:
Well, the assignment and what we discussed with NBC was an event, and what that does, it gives us the opportunity to do a closed-ended story that has a beginning, and a middle, and an end, and in this day and age with so many things to compete for people’s eyeballs and their attention on television, to log onto something that tells a finite story and has an end in sight I think gives the audience that peace of mind that they can jump on it without believing that it’s going to go on endlessly and maybe not pay off in the end.

That being said, the Heroes universe is a very big premise, and Heroes has always been able to reinvent itself and repopulate itself with new characters and new stories. We, on the original series, often told stores in volumes as it would have a beginning, and a middle, and an end, and so, in a sense, the real hardcore Heroes audience is already somewhat familiar with the idea of these smaller, contained stories. So in success and if we are invited back to the dance, I do believe we can build enough into this particular one to leave questions and empty road ahead of us for talking new story.

  1. Why did the intervirewer specifically asked about Quinto, and not Hayden and Milo? Their characters were equally, if not more, important than his.
And good to know that season 1 has a close-ended arc. Really don't want it to be cancelled with a clffhanger like the original.

  2. I'm sure he did that to avoid an awkward conversation.LOL!

  3. I really hope he doesn't screw it up- I wish Fuller was showrunner with Kring as a consulting producer

  4. not sure, I already consider the reintroduction to old characters a screw up. But I will give it a go once all 13 episodes are done. The show needed a conplete fresh start I think. But this might be an nbc problem more than the producers.

  5. Damn I reallyyyyy want to see that trailer. I'm dying to see it. Heroes is gonna be so big at CC, its gonna be crazy.

  6. Aww they asked about my Quinto? BOOM! Score one for me. Hahahaha. I didn't read the whole thing, just what's shown here, and probably b/c Hayden is doing other projects and Claire is dead. Milo as well is doing other projects too, and I think he already said he wouldn't come back. Plus Sylar was the shit. = p

  7. I think even if this averages a 1.1 it will definitely be back lol. NBC is getting desperate these days and their fall schedule overall is a loser.

  8. yeh, Grimm is like the only thing I watch on their network and even that has to be binge watched to be enjoyed.

  9. Claire's immortal and her weakness isn't public knowledge, at least i hope not anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Earthquake-level screams at Hall-H or less? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  11. No she isn't. Obviously they found a way to kill her permanently. So she's not immortal. And her weakness was never public knowledge, b/c one: no one knew of her (only a few mortals she wanted to know) and Two: She didn't haveeee a weakness.

  12. She IS immortal, her and Adam are the only natural immortal characters on the show, well Adam WAS before Papa Petrelli took his power. I don't know why people keep forgetting about that, when Sylar copied her ability he said "I couldn't kill even if i wanted to, you can never die Claire, neither can i now, i suppose". Also when he kidnapped her at college they threatened each other "Claire: I'll never try to kill you, Sylar: It's a good thing we have eternity together". I'm sorry i keep repeating this but the fact is Claire Bennet is immortal, her weakness is the spot at the back of her head remember? You stab her there she's "dead", it happened to Peter and Sylar as well. Adam said to amnesiac Peter if you blow their heads off that's the only way they can truly die.

  13. Dude, no she isn't. Did you forget they confirmed her death in Reborn? I'm not talking about Heroes, I'm talking about Reborn, and SINCE this is a continuation of that show, Claire is indeed DEAD! Therefore, NOT immortal.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I KNOW you're talking about Reborn, Claire ISN'T dead, "No Body, No Death"

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ok. W/e you say.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well she's alive so my belief's right

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah ok. You'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No YOU'LL see LOL, come on you've seen enough supernatural shows to know that unless you see a rotting corpse being eaten by worms they're not really dead. Maybe not even then, so i don't get why you're so 100% sure when all there is is a name on some plate. Deaths have been faked so many times on this franchise that you start to lose count.

    ReplyDelete
  19. One: This isnt a supernatural show. Two: She's never coming back. Three: If she's never coming back, this would be their way to settle that. And Four: I'm not sure why you're so 100% that they didn't find a way to kill her.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It has powers, it's supernatural/sci-fi, she's gone but not GONE, hence NOT dead. You can't kill an immortal unless the EVO hunters went SERIOUSLY dark and cut her head off or blew it off with an AK-47. Just because they have her name on a plaque doesn't mean squat in a franchise where characters have been known to fake their deaths and also go into hiding. I don't know why YOU'RE so sure she didn't find a way to go into hiding and letting the world think she's dead. Where she has a father that has all the resources and experiences to know how to do it and has succeeded in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Its strictly sci-fi there's nothing supernatural about it. She's gone. My god, what do you want her brain splattered on her grave?? she's gone. What is so hard for you to believe. If she had even a chance of coming back meaning Hayden, they would NOT write her off as dead. Period. This is 5 years into the future, a lot of shit could've happened in 5 years, there definitely could've been a way to kill her, which there most likely was. You can think she "faked her death" all you want, but it would very stupid of TPTB, to say she faked her death and NEVER have her appear on a show, They definitely do NOT do that. In ANY series. And Reborn won't be the first. When a character fakes their death, they're eventually shown, but in this case, it's not going to happen. My god you have to be the most in denial person i've ever met. It's the same with the Larazus Pit with you. The same exact thing. Maybe you do need a big green light with an arrow pointing at her grave that flashes...Claire Bennet dead here. smh honestly, let it gooo. Try and think outside the box and start expecting the unexpected. And by the promos we've gotten and what we've heard this will indeed be darker, and you know what's dark??? A freaking permanent death!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Unfortunately yes that's what i need, i don't care if Hayden being gone meaning the same thing as CLAIRE being gone. I don't care about any so-called "proof" i need ACTUAL proof, not some minuscule proof that has fans believe that right away. As in CONFIRMATION from Kring himself, the man bringing back a universe where a girl threw herself off a great height and walked it like it was nothing. So i'm sorry but i'm going to need a little more than just the actress not coming back.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's about logic Ivan. You don't get that. sigh. You'll be very disappointed when it is confirmed. Has nothing to do with "right away" It's all the proof that already points to it. It's a freaking 2+2=4. It's as simple as that. Well you enjoy your denial world all you want. I'm g2sleep

    ReplyDelete
  24. You enjoy yours, i guess we'll find out when it premieres, good night.

    ReplyDelete
  25. what are you 5??? What kinda question is that? smh i went to sleep!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Claire is really the only one they can say is dead and find a way to bring her back if they want .
Its possible Claire is dead to the outside world but is being secretly experimented on somewhere , this l can see happening if Hayden decides to reprise her role.

    ReplyDelete
  27. IF. But bottom line is Hayden has no intention of returning ever. She has wayyy too much going on. They wouldn't replace her with another actress either. ONLY if Hayden decided to reprise her role, then they could say she was "dead" as a fake out, in knowing that she would return. But that's not the case here. So with that we'll only see her, (if we see her) in flashbacks, as Claire from The original Heroes. It's very believable that she could indeed be dead for good, and that they definitely found a way to kill her off, to deal with her never returning, as she's already confirmed.
