ReplyDeleteI submitted scoop that detailed the characters 5 month gap life and coming forward. Apparently Felicity is going to not be doing the night-time thing with Team Arrow at least not at the beginning. She'll be searching for her own purpose. Also Olicity will be pretty happy but have some tensions within the relationship (it has been assured it is not always Oliver's fault). According to the article it looks like Oliver and Felicity will return home and conveniently he'll be re-activated to deal with a threat. So they are not "called" home but rather happen to be there. I'll link if the scoop is not posted.

ReplyDeleteWell because Spoilertv tends to not post any scoop I send from CBR, here is the summary I've seen so far of Season 4 via multiple cast members.
ReplyDeleteStephen Amell: Oliver has picked up new skills during his time away with Felicity (domestic skills). Oliicty is settled and the whole Nanda Parbat wedding is pretty dead. He also mentioned his believe Oliver's son will be introduced or at least he'll find out during season four (actor's perception not confirmed). Oliver will joke and be happy but he's going to have that protective primal instinct as well when he's "re-activated".
David Ramsey: Dig has been running the group like a well-oiled machine. He's also getting concealment (as already teased) and he's cool with it. He is very invested in taking down HIVE but they need Oliver. Dig and Oliver will make up but there will be a "baring of the soul" between them.
Emily Bett Rickards: Olicity will be in the best place ever BUT will struggle with finding a purpose now they aren't dodging bullets constantly. Felicity will no longer have the night job with the Arrow team and she'll begin to question her future a bit.
Season Four: Will deal with "magic and mysticism" and Oliver will quickly admit he's seen this before. Magic will be a part of the flashbacks as Oliver starts to make his way back to Lian Yu.
Malcolm Merlyn: Barrowman claims Merlyn has a soft spot for Team Arrow which he thinks is a combo of Tommy's friends vs seeing Oliver as a son vs. Thea being there. The "Raz"/"Rayche" thing is a sign of respect (insiders say "Rayche", outsiders say "Raz"). He also suggests the old Ra's might not actually be dead and Malcolm may have to deal with that and/or Nyssa.
Katie Cassidy: Laurel is a much better fighter now. Her and Lance are on the road to recovery. Lance will sort of deal with Team Arrow as "for the greater good". He will be in a dark place and make some questionable choices.
Willa Holland: Speedy has been coming since day one. Thea is still new but she's working hard. The Lazarus Pit issues will be coming.

Like I said, it's sad. They let one aspect ruin the whole show for them. I admit season 3 had its problems but the producers seem to have learned from them. Every new information we get about season 4 indicates that it's going to be a very strong one. And I'm also excited about the new producer. Marc needed someone to give him a new perspective.

Maybe it's just me but i feel like this couple is slowly taking over the entire show.I'm a sucker for romance but last season they pushed it a little too far for my taste.Hopefully they'll tone it down this season.

ReplyDeleteThey will. Generally after a season of angst the couple fads into more the backstory. I think it's more because it's the only thing that can be released without spoilers and the CW probably doesn't want stuff like footage our btw scenes released yet that are plot related.

ReplyDeleteI think it'll make next season more interesting if Diggle has some distrust of Oliver, especially after what he did. I actually hope it's not immediately resolved in the opening episode and takes time to fix. As for Thea, It wouldn't surprise me if she becomes Olivers sidekick officially by mid Season 4. Although I personally want some Oliver solo missions next season.

ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Merlyn. I don't expect him to keep that role of Ra's for long, I think if it doesn't happen this season, it'll probably happen next. Someone will probably recover the old Ra's and put him in the Lazarus pit and he'll probably kill Merlyn or something. Given that they revived Sara after all this time anything is possible I guess.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Deathstroke escape this season and become a regular recurring character but not exclusively in Starling City. Have Oliver and his team hear reports of his actions and stuff. He's such a major character that not using him is such a shame.

ReplyDeleteWell, it's about time Oliver and Felicity got some happiness in their lives! Season three was a rough season for them but it looks like they'll be on the same page for the most part for season four. Really looking forward to seeing how they'll both develop as individuals and as a couple.

ReplyDeleteAn action show or a superhero show can have SOME romance. It's just not supposed to take up 2/3 of the storyline. If they scale it back to season 2 levels, everyone (who's not just an Olicity shipper) will be happy. If they focus on Felicity/Olicity like they did last season, they're going to lose tons of fans who are already considering quitting the show.

ReplyDeleteSeason 3 was complete crap, for multiple reason, but mostly cause they focused on Felicity/Olicity at the expense of other more interesting storylines. Oliver can be happy, that's fine. But if the show focuses to heavily on the relationship stuff, then season 4 will be no better than the disasterous season 3. This is a superhero show, not Days of our Lives.

But for completely different reasons. 1)Lazy writing 2) focus on other characters like Ray instead of Oliver 3) the orgy of gotcha moments 4) Team Arrow barely interacted 5) they relied on tropes too much 6) inconsistent writing which led to plot holes 7) there was zero structure to season 3 8) Weakest villain with the weakest endgame 9) Oliver acted like an idiot most of the time because apparently the writers get a lot of mileage from that 10) there was zero focus in this season

How you can say the relationship stuff was only a minor part of the show last year, is beyond me. I'll just leave it at that.
ReplyDeleteMost of the problems you listed could've been improved if they spent more time on them. They couldn't do that cause Felicity and Olicity had to be prominently displayed in every episode. While Olicity wasn't the main problem with the season, the over abundance of Olicity did lead to small problems becoming bigger problems.
ReplyDeleteHow much screentime do you think they had? Because most of the season they were apart... you know that right? They spent less time together than you assume, I can assure you that. If you were to add their screentime up I think it would add up to about (45 minutes to an hour) which is about 3-4% of the entire season?
ReplyDeleteAnd if you're blaming Felicity having a lot more screentime, I think you should blame Ray considering she was used as a plot device just so Ray could get his own spinoff series. None of the screentime Felicity got was devoted to FELICITY (other than episode 5) which is a shame. Because without Ray, Felicity wouldn't have gotten that screentime.

That being said, positivity far outweighs negativity especially when it comes to networks. Which is why I always tell people to be vocal and positive about what they love instead of wasting their time being vocal and negative about something they hate.

They didn't focus heavily on Olicity. Literally three maybe four episodes had any focus in them. And one of them was the premier and the other the finale. They explored them. And they will explore these things.

Jesus. I'm not a shipper. If you think I am then you really don't get me or why I'm here. They did not. Heol they had nothing to do with any actual storyline in three, but f*ck it I'm not pointing out this yet again. Done it far too much with Mac. I like them, but don't ever call me shipper. It's not why I watch Arrow, they're not why I'm here. Have nothing to do with my opinion of three as a season, or my being pumped for four. I'm here for Green Arrow, for Thea being Speedy, for the Darhk storyline. Hive, justice for Andy Diggle, a lighter more comic book Oliver, for the super heroics. Not for some ship. I'm here for these characters all of them and most importantly Oliver's journey. I don't need them together, hell they break them up I'm fine. I'm many things, a fanboy, a comic book nerd, but I am not and will never be a shipper of these two. And don't diminish the weight of my opinion or my competency with some stereotype you apply to me. I disagree with you because scapegoating a relationship that barely if at all impacted the way the story or characters went ignores other far more glaringly reasons for season 3's problems. Oh and if any relationship was in the spotlight of three it was Oliver and Thea, considering it caused every main arc and decision Oliver did after 3x09 (and affected ones before that). Disagree with me fine. But don't ever diminish my thoughts as irrational or impossible to converse with because I don't put down a fictional relationship. If I'm being honest I'm sick of even talking about three, think what you will about it, but you're dead wrong if you think this show is all about Olicity ever. It's about the journey of Oliver Queen and those around him and whom he cares about and has relationships with. And season 4 sounds fantastic so far. So yes here's hoping it's great :D

ReplyDeleteFair. I defend ones like Koky, Shannon and etc. Shippers who watch Arrow for the super heroics first. The hardcore ones I can't because I don't agree with it. But I'm more just against blaming one element of a fandom, or season or anything for all the problems. I don't think it's fair.
ReplyDeleteFair enough. Also, I don't solely blame Olicity for the huge failure that season 3 was. I just feel some of the other problems we've discussed wouldn't have been as bad, if they spent more time developing those threads, instead of devoting so much time to Olicity. Felicity's whole arc was Oliver and to a lesser extent, Ray dependent. Oliver couldn't do anything without getting a pep talk from Felicity first. They just intertwined those characters so closely together, that they basically couldn't do anything independently of each other. Plus Olicity (on the show) came out of nowhere. Oliver was with Sara, then all of a sudden Felicity is the love of his love. Blah! But seriously I'm hoping season 4 is awesome. I haven't given up on this show yet;)

I agree about Felicity though arc wise, I hope four makes her more independent story wise. But again I just don't feel three was incredibly focused on them. It was the biggest romantic one, but I still gotta say Thea and Oliver was the most impactful and omnipresent story wise. That being said I do hope four treats them in a periphal way. And I think it will. But yeah I'm pumped for four.

ReplyDeleteSeason 3 was bad for a multitude of reasons. Killing Sara. Forcing Malcolm where he doesn't belong. Removing Thea's agency. Using Felicity to prop Ray. Focusing on Ray when there was too much else going on. Sidelining Diggle. Laurel's journey to BC. Ra's al Ghul. Everything was bad! Choosing to focus on Olicity makes little sense and has no foundation.
