  1. Writers: We have too many characters who are alive. We need to fix that.

I thought the episode was great, but I did notice a few things. Amanda looked really happy to see Nolan again, and Nolan looked really indifferent to seeing Amanda again. He just gave zero shit. I find that appropriate.

We've got a new alien race to contend with who wants to turn everyone that's not them into dinner, because why not? Irisa has pretty much become a pacifist during a time when there are a lot of people who need to be killed, but I can totally understand why.

Berlin was barely in the episode. Pottinger was written out of the show faster than you can say "plot hole" which makes his entire role last season utterly pointless.

  2. They basically exterminated the entire McCawley family in one go because you know Pilar is about to be dead.

Loved the Omec!!! They look awesome and I find them to be very interesting. Their relationship is Irisa and Nolan to a tee. Nolan would definitely be pulling that same shit if Irisa was in danger (short of killing an innocent person/kid, I think).

I hope Nolan's and Amanda's relationship continues to be a little frosty but I think this episode will probably be the extent to which they are at odds, so to speak.

And I'm super pissed that Pottinger seems to have been written off the show without Amanda ever finding out about all the shit he pulled and yet at the same time I'm pissed that he abandoned Defiance after he FINALLY got the girl, after all the shit he pulled. LOL!!!

  3. Loved it, that was a vast improvement over last season imo. I hope it's able to keep it up.

  5. Excellent premiere and a vast improvement from last season. The Omec are a bad - ass race! Whatever will Defiance do with no power, the Omec (who everyone else seem to fear/hate), and the "Collective" plans bearing down all at once. I was glad to see "Berlin", Amanda Rosewater (still miss Kenya), Datak Tar, Stahma, and Dr. Yewll ..............the rest I couldn't careless about. Fellow posters I believe we can officially say...............SYFY FRIDAYS ARE BACK! 4 THE DEFIANT FEW, I am Nobody!!!

  7. really enjoyed the return and the direction that the eps have set up for the season. RIP McCawleys, but it felt right as their plots last season were meh to me and this could tighten and streamline the storylines up, although I did like the Tarrs/Rafe working as a family unit and that even Datak felt very strongly about them being "their humans",Loved seeing Papa Nolan/daughter Irissa dynamic again, but the somewhat indifference that Nolan exuded when he saw Amanda again felt odd. Nice to see that Berlin stayed behind as lawkeeper. I missed seeing spunky Irissa, but with the immense guilt for all the deaths that she inflicted while under he influence of the arkbrain that she must feel, it's understandable and expect to see her struggle to become herself again. Intriguing intro of the big bad of the Beast and his VC flunkies, but really intrigued by the intro of the bigger bads of the Omec, whom I expect to be an impetus for everyone to come together and fight against a common foe as in the pilot ep... (whatever happened to that aggressor race - gotta figure that there'd be more of them somewhere)... I do wonder if we'll see one of the Omec discover some compassion and become an ally, but we'll just have to wait and see.... enjoyed this return and am looking forward to next...

  8. I loved the action and these new Aliens the Olmcs are scary indeed. I loved how Irisa is the heroine of a pulp novel. Too Funny!

  9. I was not expecting Rafe, Christie and Quentin to be killed. That was really shocking. And I'm quite sad about losing Rafe his odd couple friendship with Datak has always been fun. Also Christie went from annoying to having an interesting relationship with her mother in law. Poor Alak!!

  10. That's too bad. it aired tonight on the east coast, on Showcase, right after Beauty and the beast. It's airing again in a half hour.

Maybe it'll be online there too. http://www.showcase.ca/
