SYNOPSIS
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return. Based on a best-selling novel, and helmed by master director Ridley Scott, THE MARTIAN features a star studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover.

  2. I loved this book! It was very funny and difficult to put down. I pictured the main character, Mark Watney (The Martian), as Paul Rudd while reading, but Matt Damon is a great choice as well. I'm really looking forward to the movie.

Super excited about this. Loved the book. I really wanna re-read before the movie comes out. I'll have to get some tiny page marking post-its and take note of my favorite quotes. There were a lot, but on my first read I was too busy enjoying the book to do that. Science the SHIT out of it, Watney!

So you have 2 things on its favor and 1 against it. Mathematically, you shall see this movie because it has more things you like than hate ;)

  11. Kinda reminds me of Tom Hanks and Castaway a bit, but has plenty of things that have my interest piqued.... will be on the lookout for it

  12. Having not read the book, this almost feels like a midquel for Interstellar...

Looks pretty good. Pretty jarring seeing Kristen Wiig and Donald Glover in here. Even Jeff Daniels is a bit of a surprise here, but I think they'll all do well.
