The Originals - Fire With Fire - Review

9 May 2015

‘The Originals’ continued its tradition of having a bloody penultimate episode. Davina is the new leader of the witches. Klaus and Dahlia went on a killing spree. Klaus killed Gia. Dahlia cursed the wolves. Rebekah killed herself in so she could escape a compelled Marcel and try to save Hope. Dahlia attacked Freya. Klaus shared his plan with Cami, that he’s playing Dahlia and knows how to kill her. Klaus tells Dahlia that she can’t link herself to Hope until she links with him.

Least favorite character: So one of my theories ended up being true. Klaus had a plan to fool Dahlia. Last week I would’ve forgiven him, but he took things too far. I know he wanted to make sure Dahlia believed him, but there were other ways. What he did to Hayley, Elijah, Marcel and Rebekah was payback for the dagger and letting Hayley run with Hope. Which is ridiculous considering he was only daggered for a day, while his siblings were daggered for years, and Hayley was just trying to find a way to keep Hope safe. He seemed to have gone easiest on Rebekah and Marcel. So either he doesn’t blame them as much or he’s not done yet. But what he did to Elijah and Hayley was just cruel. Gia never did anything to Klaus, she just died because of her relationship with Elijah. Which means Klaus did the exact same thing Dahlia did with Aiden and Josh. Can’t wait to hear his explanation. As for Hayley and the wolves, I mostly explained my feelings about this last week. I hope he plans to reverse that spell before the end of the season but judging lack of information on Hayley, I doubt it.
Most gruesome death: As previously mentioned, Gia was just collateral damage. But making her burn herself alive, yikes. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, whenever a couple starts to declare their commitment to one another, you know someone’s dying. My heart broke for Elijah. I know Klaus has done this to Rebekah a few times over the past centuries but I don’t think Elijah’s ever been on the receiving end. I liked Gia and I’m sad to see her go.

Moment I still don’t get: All the way through the second half of the season, I’ve been saying that Jackson won’t live to see season 3. But now, I’m not so sure anymore. Because if the writers were going to kill him off, why wouldn’t they have done it this week. There was absolutely no reason why Klaus wouldn’t have chosen this moment to kill Jackson. The only thing I can come up with, is that he either doesn’t hate Hayley as much as he claims and doesn’t want her to hate him forever. Or that he doesn’t want his siblings to completely turn on him after Dahlia’s been dealt with. But considering his actions this week, both of those options seem very unlikely.

Favorite character: Last week I wondered how they were going to handle the ‘Rebekah in a different body’ situation. This week I got my answer. I was really impressed with her this week. She chose to give up the possibility of a human life, something she’s wanted for so long, for a chance to save Hope. Considering there was a good chance she’d just stay dead, that was a huge risk. Rather than have Marcel do it and having that moment possibly haunt him forever, she took her own life. Judging from the promo for next week, it paid off. Rebekah is back in her own body. You have no idea how excited I am to see Claire back on this show. At this point, I don’t care if it’s only for one episode. The only thing I wish the writers had done, was give her a grand entrance at the end of the episode. But hey, there’s always next week.
Finale predictions: So I think this finale can either go two ways. Either they defeat Dahlia or the exact opposite happens. She’ll gain the upper hand on everyone and disappear with Hope. Frankly, I’m hoping or option 1. Hayley and the wolves will either be freed somewhere in the second half of the episode, towards the ending, or not at all. Elijah won’t forgive Klaus that easily, I think this will create some distance between the two brothers next season. Davina will bring Kol back. I know some think she’s bringing Esther back, no idea why. If someone can explain this theory to me, please do. From a sneak peek I saw that Davina will be mad at Rebekah. Probably because she thinks Rebekah broke her promise to Kol. I have a feeling that Klaus will dagger Rebekah again. It would be an easy way for the writers to explain Claire’s absence. I’m guessing someone will die in the finale, wouldn’t be a proper finale if they didn’t.

Best quotes: Hayley: “It’s okay, baby. Mama’s gonna catch up with you real quick, okay?”
Klaus: “Hey, daddy’s here. It’s all gonna to be okay, I promise.”

So that’s it for this week. Next week is the finale so be sure to check in again then and let me know in the comments what you thought of this week’s episode.

So this review isn't as long as my usual ones, especially not compared to last week, but I think I'm ust saving up for next week. Sorry about the first part, I tried to see the other side of it but I just couldn't. Anyone else excited to have Claire back next week?

  3. I think Klaus is gonna trick Davina to bring back Esther. They need the blood of the person that Dahlia loved the most. That would be Esther & instead of Klaus giving Davina Kols remains. He gives her Esthers remains & Esther comes back instead of Kol

  4. I am mostly waiting for Person Of Interest & Hawaii Five 0's fates at this point

  5. I don't want to see Jackson go. I'm team Jayley. Plus, I'd miss seeing his pretty face on scene. When Hayley said those three words you don't say on this show, I thought she signed his death warrant but as we saw that didn't happen. And too, by keeping Jackson alive to be with Hayley that'ts extra punishment on Elijah for daggering him. I think that one reason Klaus didn't off him last episode.

  6. I can agree with what you said. No matter what anyone says Klaus went to far, he got daggered for what ten minutes. I can understand what Elijah did but I still believe he did it for Hope. I was hoping that Jackson would be gone but have a feeling that he is going to stay and maybe next season he will turn evil. I am so glad that Claire is coming back and what Klaus did to Gia she did not deserve it and Elijah had to watch it and I do believe that he cared about her not love and that kiss was the last kiss. And what Klaus did to Haley did not see that coming at all I don't care what happens to Jackson but seeing the pain in Haley made me mad. I don't ship Haley and Klaus and never will and this adds to it and he just watched her suffer. I know that Elijah saves her. Is she still a hybrid. Cami and Klaus I love them together and he trusts her and she trusts him. and don't think that Elijah will forgive Klaus so easily and I don't blame him and especially when he finds out about Haley. People say that Gia could come back don't know how that can happen. I liked Gia. My couple having a scene they are hugging Elijah and Haley that is. And I hope that kol comes back. And I hope nothing happens to Elijah or the main actors.

  8. Yea don't think so she may have said the words but she really loves Elijah. And sorry I want Jackson to go he is boring and so is this couple But everyone can have their opinions. And Klaus does not even like Jackson. He is very annoying and if he does make it I think he will turn evil. Nothing against Nathan Parsons just don't like Jackson and I am not the only one that feels this way

  9. I really hope they don't bring Claire back just to dispose of her so quickly. I'm missing her as Rebekah terribly, wouldn't surprise me if she's the Mikaelson that supposedly dies.

  11. DEFINITELY and i hope it's more than one episode, we don't know if Aquarius will last so.., i know you didn't exactly agree with Klaus this week but what made you sure that Klaus had a plan? for me it was when he (it wasn't real but it still hurt seeing it, like on "Angel" when Angel bit Kate) bit Cami

  12. i still don't understand why he didn't kill that STALKER, i mean he had the PERFECT opportunity and he didn't, was it because of Hayley?

  13. you sure the two people hugging are Elijah and Hayley? what do you think will be Cami's reaction to what Klaus had to to prove that Cami wasn't a problem?

  14. I don't understand the big deal on what he did to Hayley. Guys, he SAVED her. Dahlia was ready to kill her to take Hope. By giving her the crescent curse, in Dahlia eyes she is no longer a threat. Isn't Davina a powerful witch too? She can reverse the spell. And frankly, Hayley kind of deserved the scare. Yeah, she's the mother but damn, Klaus is the father. She has no right to steal the baby from him.

  15. Who knows. But I have a feeling that he is going to stay. In the promos it shows Elijah and Haley hugging so I am happy about that. Maybe Jackson turns evil next season and haley breaks the vows I don't know

  16. It was on tumbler. And it is Elijah. And the person is naked and he puts his coat on her and it looks like Haley. And the writer said that Haley and Elijah were going to have some good scenes. She is not blond and that is not Klaus

  17. Don't think so. He watched her in pain and did nothing. I am sorry that is messed up. And anybody that liked that part are sick. Yea everyone knows he is the father. I will never condone their relationship he likes to see her in pain

    ReplyDelete
  18. And what should he have done? "Dalhia, she's in pain. Let's forget this." "Ok, then I'll kill her" "No, you will not" "Ok, I'll kill you too"

  19. Yea I felt for Elijah

  20. I just did not think that he had to do it. And how will this be reversed what if it cant be reversed. If he cares for her he has a funny way of showing it

    ReplyDelete
  21. It was reversed the first time. And I think he cares for her way more than she does for him.
