Orphan Black - Formalized, Complex and Costly - Advance Preview

2 May 2015

Orphan Black will continue its explosive third season next Saturday on BBC America, with an all new episode titled "Formalized, Complex and Costly".
It will pick up right after last week’s drama. Seth died, shot by his brother Rudy. It was really shocking, I’ve never expected a male clone to die so quickly in the season. The consequences of his death, and of Rudy shooting him will be explored in "Formalized, Complex and Costly". Let’s say Mother won’t be happy Rudy terminated his brother.

What happened to Seth, his sickness will also be dealt with during "Formalized, Complex and Costly". The Castor clones are suffering from a different sickness than the Leda ones, but both clones have a major health flaw and they’re both looking for the original samples… Because that's probably the only way to cure them. The male clones will still be very mysterious, but expect some words like “stage 5” ; “protocol” and “defect” .
And here’s a list of what to expect from "Formalized, Complex and Costly" :
- Art will finally meet with another clone ! Allison or Cosima or a new one ? I’ll let you guess.
- Mark and Gracie will be very present in "Formalized, Complex and Costly". We will find out where they are, what they have been doing since they got married. Hint: not so much actually. They will do something for the first time in the episode. Their relationship won’t be at its best, the honeymoon hasn't lasted very long. Mark will be preoccupied by something and Gracie will deal with some shocking news.
- Paul will bring a special gift to Dr Coady
- Allison and Donnie will start Allison’s campaign for school trustee, they will also start their little business, taking over Ramon and another legitimate business. They’re very efficient and it will turn out they are rather good at it. But Marci is also a very resourceful woman, she’ll offer a deal to Allie and Donnie.
- Someone will learn about Helena’s pregnancy and also about Gracie and Mark’s wedding.
- Cosima and Scott will perform a medical procedure in the less expected location. It’ll be gross but very funny too. That woman is amazing and Scott is... Scott.
- There will be three big returns this week. They’re all female characters. We haven’t seen two of them since last season, and the other well since the season premiere.
- Finally, Art will open up more about himself, his relationship with Beth and his new relationship with her sisters. I’m sure you will love those scenes as much as I did. It’ll very emotional, surprising and powerful.
- The relationship between Mother / Dr Coady and the male clones will be explored even more in "Formalized, Complex and Costly". It’ll be very interesting. I really like those scenes because it shows how much Castor and Leda are different.
- Sarah will explain her plan to get Helena back and it’s quite a good plan… on paper, because there will be a big “If”
- Gracie’s baby will be mentioned.
- Helena and Rudy will meet, finally ! Their meeting will be excellent. Tatiana Maslany and Ari Millen are so good together, with such different chemistry. The scene totally exceeded my expectations.
- I don’t know if it’s just me but I definitely feel something between Felix and Scott. They’d be adorable as a couple.
- There will be a surprising and shocking revelation about the link between Leda and Castor clones.
- Paul will have a new nickname : “Dirty Paul”. I love it.
- So last week, we lost Seth…. And this week, we’re going to lose another character. It’ll be quite surprising, I’ve never expected the writers to be so brave and fearless.

"Formalized, Complex and Costly" will be another spectacular episode of Orphan Black. There will be many revelations, that will change the course of the season.  The third season has just started and already the tension is still very high and constant. We’re digging deeper into the Orphan Black rabbit hole and it’s such an excellent ride.
Don’t miss "Formalized, Complex and Costly" next Saturday on BBC America ! Are you excited about it ? Were you shocked by Seth’s death last week ? Hit the comments !

Finally, some quotes from "Formalized, Complex and Costly". Guess who will say them :

1-"You don’t have 5 minutes to talk about your kids education"
2-"One day, I kill you all"
3-"Don’t think too hard"
4-"You are the ugliest Mark yet"
5-"Seriously, why are you doing this ?"

That doesn't sound good. Is it a clone?

"There will be three big returns this week. They’re all female characters. We haven’t seen two of them since last season, and the other well since the season premiere." I'm guessing Angie, Marian, and Bobby

  5. I'm dying to see Allie and her mother but it's not for the episode; Allie and Donnie as drug dealers is just hilarious.

I want Michelle Forbes back too ! She won't be back in this episode though :(

Don't overthink what Paul will bring, it's not really important but it's nice.

  10. "There will be three big returns this week" I think Marion, Angie and Delphine will be back.

"Art will finally meet with another clone !" I am thinking about Allison because she might get caught by Art by doing her new job.

"And this week, we’re going to lose another character" Oh god, just tell me it's not a major one.

I am looking forward to this episode. As always.
