  1. Does anyone know if ABC is done with pickups? Whatever hasn't been picked up is dead? What I wanted has been picked up or passed anyway, it's just to know.

    ReplyDelete
  2. The Hollywood Reporter has a clear overview of what's picked up, passed on and still in contention. If I remember correctly the only ABC dramas still in contention are The Adversaries and Runner. I can't see the former being picked up, but the latter seemed to have some buzz around it so it might get a late pick-up.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Excited for Quantico, Boom and The Family! Will likely check The Catch as well, and possibly Wicked City.

    ReplyDelete
  4. In that photo Mireille Enos looks like Ellen Pompeo

    ReplyDelete
  5. The Muppets?? Really????

    ReplyDelete
  6. Same here! But I'll give Kings a chance over Quantico.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The pics are quite beautiful. Kudos for the great coverage @SpoikerTv
The Family sounds intriguing, I always love a great mystery.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yep! I assume they will try to pair it with Galavant as a Once midseason replacement, to see it it'll work.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Seems like they are done.

    ReplyDelete
  11. they are used to starting with abc studios owned series so a last minute pick-up for Runner, Mix or The 46 Percenters is a possibility (last year, Forever,FOTB & Cristela were announced after a first bunch of pickups and it was the same 2 years ago)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Not sure about Kings and Prophets. Sounds like an overdramatized version of a Bible story. Probably it will be inaccurate as well.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Priyanka Chopra standing in front like a boss.
Why does Merielle Enos get a solo photo?
And I didn't comment in the pick ups post earlier,l becacue I was too busy making the posts, but "The Family", really? Original Sin was a much better title, and even if they needed to change it for some reason, could they not think of a better title? The Family makes me think of a sitcom.
Also, I said weeks ago that Book would be retitled because of the FOX reality show and it did.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The 46 Percenters is 100% dead though. Mix is still in the mix and Runner might run away with a last-minute pick-up.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think maybe they want to premiere it on Wednesday after FAMILY comedies block?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Flesh and Blood didn't sound bad either. ABC has a history of good shows with bad titles (Selfie, Trophy Wife).

    ReplyDelete
  17. HAha, thanks, I thought 46 %ers still had a pulse.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I thought exactly the same, it would make sense.
tbh, i hope the family will be more about family than mysteries and it sounds like i'm gonna get what i want

    ReplyDelete
  19. More likely the post Once fall or spring spot, depending on what they intend to do with S&L.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think they will portray a different side of the story and I like the cast. But I'll wait till the promo and pilot to really decide.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Boom looks like a future mid-season total failure...

    ReplyDelete
  22. My guess is that you thinking about the family is probably what they wanted. I imagine they want to put it Wed at 10 and this will make its marketing job much easier as they can promote it as a natural continuation of the comedy block.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just made the same comment above, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Where will ABC place all these dramas?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Excited for Catch. Will give BOOM a chance for Chace Crawford & Quantico for Priayanka Chopra!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am a bit doubtful of Chace Crrawford's ability to lead a series, but maybe I check it out too, let's see trailer.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am a bit skeptic too, let's see the trailer first.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Super excited for all the trailers.

    ReplyDelete
  29. No idea. The Family on Wednesdays as you already suggested, The Catch takes over HTGAWM on Thursdays. Of Kings and Prophets could go to Sundays. Wicked City for midseason and then either Quantico on female-skewing Monday (with Castle moving to Tuedays) or Boom to male-skewing Tuesdays and the other held for midseason. But these are just some wild guessed/suggestions. Would love to hear your thoughts.

    ReplyDelete
  30. forget about Shonda Girls and welcome the next great mom : martha plimpton. I already love her as much as constance wu and wendi mclendon-covey

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, ABC really has a lot of dramas this year. I guess some shows will be used as a bridge and it's almost inevitable that something is pushed to summer.

I think if ABC decides to use one or more of these shows as a Thursday bridge, it will be interesting to see how it turns out. I am sure they don't want HTGAWM falling apart so it would be best if it keeps that Scandal lead-in (and it seems Scandal itself also benefits from HTGAWM). But if the line-up has another 10-weeks break, will that be used as a bridge (e.g. for Secrets and Lies)? Will S&L be used to lead off the night into American Crime and Wicked City? They can create an anthology Thursday, but it's a huge risk. Alternatively, they could double up on episodes like they did with Galavant this season. The possibilities are endless, so I'm very curious how ABC will fit everything in.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Historically, didn't most of the Bible take place in the Middle East? ABC's slate was so overall dull I didn't even pay attention to their casting, but I'd hoped for a cute Middle Eastern lead. Ah well. I'm interested in the trailer. Definitely hope it's more like Kings from several years ago, less AD.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Or Castle gets a shortened final season.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Not counting The Bible and its NBC sequel I like most shows that are based on Christian mythology. I'm hoping it's just a good epic story without trying to be preachy or anything. That potential is definitely there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Thursday schedule is a huge challenge, I dare anyone to try. There are 34 usable Thursdays in season (Taking out Christmas, New Years and Thanksgiving). But the 15 episode order for Murder is quite horrible. Because there are two bad options:
    - Run the TGIT lineup deep into December. Pro: They can make an effort with a bridge programming lineup in January and February. Con: It will hurt TGIT shows, it will hurt February Sweeps average and, most importantly, it will mean Murder is back for like 3 or 4 episodes only after huge hiatus which seems ridiculous. Also, Murder will eat up a lot of Scandal originals as lead-in.
    - Do same schedule as last year and end them before Thanksgiving. Pro: Good for the shows themselves, good for Feb Sweeps average, no breaks. Con: They can't start a serious bridge programming deep into december and then they would have to stop it for Christmas and New Year's anyway. Starting it in January gives it too little time to be on, so it is not an option either.

I think they might be forced to run Murder in January despite Scandal not being on.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well he's hot. Or at least, he was I don't really keep up with that kind of stuff. I feel like as long as he doesn't have to do deep emotional he can get by... And again, so pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, those two were the problems I had as well. We should also take account the production schedule. Running 15 episodes would likely require a very early start on production or else they can't keep up with it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yep. Much of the stories were set on a particular subregion within the Middle East, the so-called "Fertile Crescent". It was only in later books that they started to switch its focus to the entire Mediterranean region.

I'm not a super religious guy by the way, but back when I was younger, reading the Bible help me pass the time during the summer before school starts when I don't have a lot of books for me to read . heehee

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm skeptical as well, but there are strong additional characters maybe they can help add up.
Maybe the trailer will an indication!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well Sleepy Hollow did 13 last year ending in January and that should take more production time than Murder due to all the special effects and all. By the end of January this year, Revenge had done 14, and Scorpion had actually done the 15. I think that could be accounted for.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Cougar Town as well

    ReplyDelete
  42. How many lead characters get to avoid the deep emotional stuff though?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Looking forward to seeing The Catch with Mireille Enos, and who doesn't love Hermit and gang.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It is the ongoing Hollywood Bible problem, look at that Exodus movie that came out last year with Joel Edgerton as Ramesses II, dude does not look Egyptian.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Corbin Bolies8 May 2015 at 11:57

The Muppets! When I heard about them bringing them back, I was initially surprised. But I don't think it'll be too bad. Here's to nostalgia!

The Catch is something that I'm probably going to check out, same thing with Wicked City.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Aryam Manzueta8 May 2015 at 12:22

Ew Of Kings and Prophets looks cheap af! Like that show Syfy launched 1-2 months ago..

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nothing will ever look as cheap as Olympus on Syfy ! Never!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Deadline about The Advocate: The project, starring Kim Raver and Joy Bryant as brilliant medical advocates, may be shopped elsewhere.

    Oh, i wish

    ReplyDelete
  49. So Contagious8 May 2015 at 12:44

Yeah, I'm really, really doubtful. Like, he's just about the last GG alum I'd bet on as a series lead. But if I hear good things, I'll give it a shot. I'd rather see the Ed Westwick show, though - I didn't much like Chuck by the end of the series, but that was the writer, not the actor. I'm looking forward to seeing him as a straight up villain.

    ReplyDelete
  50. These don't scream "WATCH ME!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  51. What the hell will ABC pair The Muppets and Real O'Neals with? Each other?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Mix is also still in the mix.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Pretty excited for Quantico, The Catch and a little bit intrigued by The Family and Wicked City. ABC has the best pickups yet in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  54. In my opinion, the biggest surprise is only three new comedies. Muppets won't likely be in a traditional comedy block (is this going to be an hour or half hour show?), so that leaves Dr. Ken and The O'Neals as the only two to potentially land in the Tuesday/Wednesday comedy block. Dr, Ken and Fresh Off The Boat probably is the Tuesday comedy block.

    ReplyDelete
  55. meh to everything here

    ReplyDelete
  56. Interested in Quantico and The Family.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm sad about Kingmakers, but I'll check out Wicked City (or anything with Ed Westwick <3 xD), Dr. Ken, Of Kings and Prophets and the untitled with Chace Crawford.

    ReplyDelete
  58. This looks good actually !

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Catch, Quantico, The Family, and Wicked City look interesting. Not really interested in the comedies but The Muppes could be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  60. It seems like ABC only picked up shows from ABC studios this year. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  61. So did they not have a frame for the missing son? (The Family)
I don't get what's going in the Kings and Prophets key art.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Matthew Zamora8 May 2015 at 16:11

The Catch art looks cool... Hopefully the show won't be disappointing

    ReplyDelete
  63. Isn't Runner still in contention?

    ReplyDelete
  64. According to SeasonZero : Legal drama #TheAdversaries is a no-go at ABC.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Isn't it obvious? Lioness got bored with hunting and tries to become professional masseur.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I wonder what will be the new name for BOOM. We should know by upfronts, right? I really want this show in fall, not midseason

    ReplyDelete
  67. I can see the six returning comedies + Dr. Ken and Real O'Neals making the fall schedule, and Galavant as a bridge. If all goes well then The Muppets will also be used as a bridge; if not, they cancel a show midseason and use it as a replacement.

    ReplyDelete
  68. J.J. Francesco8 May 2015 at 16:24

With so many renewals and drama pickups, SOMETHING has to be slated for the summer. (ala The Whispers this year.) I wonder if they'll stuff one of the new shows there or shift an existing show there. I could see them holding off on Boom or Wicked City to burn off as summer fare. Kings and Prophets also seems like it could get the A.D. treatment and premiere around Easter (aka, after another show or two has completed their full or partial season orders in the timeslot) and then continue into the summer.

The Catch seems like the highest profile drama here but I honestly cannot see them premiering it in the fall. Still thinking it'll be the Murder replacement.

The Family (hate the name. TOOO generic) will probably be the "big push" of the Fall. I could see them sticking it on Wednesday nights at 10.

Quantico could be the Tuesday 10PM sacrificial lamb this year. Obviously, with Galavant and Carter still here, they'll probably bridge seasons again. American Crime and Secrets and Lies could share the same timeslot.

I could see something like this:

    Sun: Once/The Muppets/Galavant - S&L/American Crime - Nashville
    Mon: DWTS - Castle
Tues: The Middle/The Real ONiells - Shield - Quantico
    Wed:The Goldbergs - FOTB - MF - Blackish - The Family
    Thurs: GA - Scandal - Murder/Catch
Fri: LMS - Dr. Ken - Shark Tank/Beyond The Tank - 20/20 (Beyond The Tank could easily serve as quick spackle as well)

Mideason: The Muppets could serve as spackle if The Real ONiells or Dr. Ken tank hard. If they manage to get full seasons (honestly with no other reserves, ABC will probably give them a back 9 if they level off above 1.0), I could see them pairing it with Galavant on Sundays while Once is on break. I could also see them ending Nashville very early to premiere something in it's slot in April.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Pretty much all other ABC pilots are dead a this point.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I assume they would show the new title in the promo.

    ReplyDelete
  71. J.J. Francesco8 May 2015 at 16:29

"American Boom" XD :P (Because, why not? It worked so well for Odyssey, right? )

    ReplyDelete
  72. Muppets are always fun. Not sure I'll watch any of their other new shows, especially after they canceled Forever.

    ReplyDelete
  73. J.J. Francesco8 May 2015 at 16:33

Let's take our bets for how long it will be until "Of Kings & Prophets" drops the "Of" to just become "Kings & Prophets."

    ReplyDelete
  74. J.J. Francesco8 May 2015 at 16:34

If it is, it'll probably be stuck in the summer as I don't think ABC has any room for it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I think so too, but who knows, since they did not announce it yet maybe they want only one more and they can't decide or something else. If they passed on both of them i wouldn't mind anyway (even tho i might check out MIx)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Love the key arts for The Catch, The Family and oKaP!

    ReplyDelete
  77. According to Hollywood Reporter they dropped Of, but looks like they were wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Little more interested in Quantico, The Real O'Neals and Wicked City (great name BTW) after this photos. The Catch (why they changed it again? Smoke and Mirrors was a good name too) and The Family (Original Sin was a better title) were the only two ABC projects I was rooting for, so I'm glad they were picked up.

    ReplyDelete
  79. J.J. Francesco8 May 2015 at 16:58

I thought I'd seen that. It's not that I don't like the "of" at all. It gives a bit of character. Just seems to make it clunkier when titles are usually liked tight.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Muppets is enough of a draw already that it's possible.

    ReplyDelete
  81. My friend was joking that they changed Smoke & Mirrors to The Catch because they realized everyone would do this on Thursday nights: #s&m ;)

    ReplyDelete
  82. They did at one stage before the pick up.

    ReplyDelete
  83. They did drop it one stage before the pick up.

    ReplyDelete
  84. runner is produced by both 20th and abc studios, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  85. The promotional material isn't blowing me away, but it's still early...

    ReplyDelete
  86. I really like the new name Oil, simple yet fitting

How many new dramas do you think they will premiere in fall?
    I hope it will be Oil+The Catch+Quantico
But i wouldn't be surprised if it was The Family+Wicked City+Of Prophets and Kings

    ReplyDelete
  87. I really like Quantico's key art.
Oil, really? Could they not think of anything better?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Quantico, The Family , Of Kings and Prophets in the fall I'd say. The Catch should replace HTGAWM so TGIT (Shondaland) block remains intact.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I don't hate Oil, and I enjoy the simplicity of it, but I liked Boom's better.

And I agree about Quantico, looks awesome. The Family also looks good. I think overall they look pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I don't know why they even chose Boom in the first place since it was already taken.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I agree, they all look great (dramas)

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think it will be:
    - Quantico on Tuesdays
    - The Family on Wednesdays
    - Either Boom or Of Prophets and Kings on Sundays

The Catch probably replaces Murder, S&L and AC probably bridge something like the TGIT dramas, Carter bridges Shield and Wicked City is probably the backup option for if something fails.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't think they care about it when they are still in pilot stage. They only need a working title.

    ReplyDelete
  94. And I find The Family's key art kinda laughable. Could they not find the frame for the missing son's photo?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Don't you think that Wicked + S&L will share time slot, since they look pretty similar. One season long case

    ReplyDelete
  96. I was thinking the same, actually.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The only place I could see for that is on Sundays at 9. Maybe. They could do S&L in the fall without bothering moving it and then use Wicked after Oscar promotion. But where does Boom go?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Lol, I think it works well. Can't wait for all these trailers, they are the ones I am looking forward the most. Well, and LoT but won't get a true trailer for that I believe since it hasn't even been filmed :/

    ReplyDelete
  99. I was thnking abou t Sunday 9 as well
    OUAT+WC/S&L+Nashville

But i hope Oil can get that slot, since i really wish it could start in fall

    ReplyDelete
  100. OIL WILL AIR SUNDAY AT 9 THIS FALL

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think Boom is the odd one out here. Seems really soapy. Can't think of any place they can put it and will probably end up being moved to summer.

    ReplyDelete
  102. It's on ABC website. They made a mistake

    ReplyDelete
  103. They made a 3 minute presentation, hope we get to see it, but I am doubtful.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I'm thinking that Oil gets the Wednesday slot. The Family on Sunday. Quantico on Tuesday.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Oh i see, hopefully it will become true

    ReplyDelete
  106. It would fit well with Nashville and it would be good counterprogramming against everything else that airs on the slot. DH was pretty soapy and did amazing in the slot and Revenge did as well for the first half of Season 2. But I see what you mean. Maybe it's likely. It could pair with Mistresses to replace Wives Club.

    ReplyDelete
  107. i just hope we will know if Sara is back or if she is playing different character

    ReplyDelete
  108. I am leaning towards Family on Wednesdays just because the title change seems to have been taylor made for it to follow the family comedies lol, but I could be wrong

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yes I have heard but I am not hopeful of us getting to see it although I would love it. Are there leaks from those things ever?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Where? I can't find it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Quantico & The Catch look great.Rest-Not so much!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Never mind, just found it!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Why do you say it is a mistake?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Because ABC upfronts are tomorrow :)

    ReplyDelete
  115. Yes I know but maybe they already have this ready and someone messed up with it being visible already? :P

    ReplyDelete
  116. That's what i think ... and i really hope it is true

    ReplyDelete
  117. I think so too. Maybe someone was just supposed to change the name and that person wrote more that he was supposed to.

    Where are the trailers?

    ReplyDelete
  120. We should only be getting them tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Oh YES!!! The CBS renewals have arrived.

    ReplyDelete
  122. It's on http://abc.go.com/shows, http://abc.go.com/new-shows and http://abc.go.com/shows/untitled-pate-and-fishburne-project, so it HAS to be true. It can't be a mistake on three different web pages. They just accidentally made it visible before the upfront.

  125. Oil, really? Boom was way better.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Boom was already taken.

Not really interested in any but trailers might change my mind

    ReplyDelete
  128. What do you mean?

    ReplyDelete
  129. Not interested in any of these atm, I need to see trailers.

    ReplyDelete
  130. FOX has a reality game show called "Boom!" which is set to air this summer.
