Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell's Kitchen, New York City. 3. I am right in feeling that this will be a little less serious than Daredevil?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Aslong as its half as good as Daredevil then it be a great show :D

  5. I'd love to see all four series have different styles and tones

    ReplyDelete
  6. Will Matt Murdock/Daredevil be making an appearance? Since this show takes place it the same location.

  7. There's crossover potential, doesen't mean he will but there's a chance he will

  8. I still can picture Ritter(is the name right?) on the role... i don't feel it... I 've seen the photos and meh... When Charlie Cox's first pics appeared i was on board at the instant.

  9. Hopefully it turns out to be really good.

  10. Maybe. The relationship between Jessica and the Purple Man (David Tennant) is a truly disturbing thing in the comics so I wouldn't really bet on anything.

  11. I wonder if this will be after the Fisk incidents or what. Maybe because of that she decides to sui up again?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well Jessica has PTSD so that is pretty serious, I suspect there will be some humor though - I found parts of Daredevil pretty funny.

  13. Hell's Kitchen, she HAS to meet Murdock right?

    ReplyDelete
  14. would she even hear the news by the time the show airs? maybe it's old news by then

His body produces pheromones which allow him to control people. So he often uses it to take advantage of people, women in particular.

In Jessica Jones case, early in her career she tried to take him on and failed. He took control of her and used her to commit crimes while also doing other stuff to her (THAT kind of stuff). He broke her down till she developed stockholm syndrome. Eventually he sent Jessica to kill Daredevil but she found the Scarlet Witch instead.

Due to the Purple Man's powers, influence and the fact that he broke her down, the Avengers had no choice but to beat her into a coma to save her. When she eventually awoke she had a case of PTSD and left her superhero life behind her.

The Purple Man never stopped trying to win her back though. Which intensified after she got pregnant by Luke Cage. He began to try and get Luke to kill the baby, feeling Jessica had betrayed him.

  19. What is her superpower? Or was she just a regular person who wanted to help?

  20. what the HELL went into the creators of this story, i mean THAT, attempted infanticide, i don't think i can see something like that. How can ANYONE want to want to see that?

    ReplyDelete
  21. LOL yeah i guess

She has super strength. Her body is also more resistant to physical damage. She also has the ability to fly but that has been treated more like a muscle. The more she uses her flight the better she is at it. When she goes long periods without it, it causes her trouble.

It was part of Marvel's MAX line which is for comics that are too dark/morbid for regular readers (think R rated comics).

In part it was done to show that not all superhero stories are happy and overly camp. These characters risk their lives but it had always been played off as nothing serious. Then comics like Alias (Jessica Jones' first comic) come around and show that it's not all happy and fun.

  24. so can someone even enjoy it without thinking of all that's happened to her?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Christopher DeBono9 May 2015 at 19:03

Yeah. It's a different kind of enjoyment though.

Here's a women that was broken down, but is now trying to rise above the demons of her past. Trying to readjust to regular things that we take for granted. In part, Luke Cage was important to that.

  26. but how can someone like that even get up in the morning. let alone become a superhero? why wouldn't she just erase her memory, wouldn't it be easier, or go back in time and have someone else kill him?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Christopher DeBono9 May 2015 at 19:08

Remember this is Hell's Kitchen. No one cares about what goes on here (except Daredevil of course). So you either try to rise above it or fall deeper into that dark place.

Jessica tried to rise above it.

  28. Hell's Kitchen, New York City!!!!! yay! I hope she becomes the body guard for Daredevil in the day time in the future.

Well, if they follow the comics at all they will meet.

    ReplyDelete
  30. MurderMondays9 May 2015 at 19:13

Jessica has no interest in trying to be a superhero again. She wants to help people as a normal person.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Its life man many people have experienced similar things in the past, but you got to get up, move on and live on.

    ReplyDelete
  32. MurderMondays9 May 2015 at 19:15

It's the aesthetic, really. The wardrobe looks more like something out of Ritter's closet than Jessica's.

She was successful in getting her life back, but she didn't kill Purple Man. With the aid of Daredevil they had him imprisoned.

He eventually broke out and teamed up with the other villains though. Becoming more involved in other events. In particular, his powers are useful when the villains go against SHIELD.

  34. Interesting, my only question is. Will we find out about her past?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I assume we will, but in flashback style. Which I'm OK with.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah that part is expected.

    ReplyDelete
  37. he doesn't need a bodyguard.

    ReplyDelete
  38. its suppose to be for cover. like in comics.

    ReplyDelete
  39. So excited for this!

  40. Given the way they went with Daredevil, I could see them going darker. But im willing to give netflix the benefit of the doubt on netflix comic book series. They seem to not have their hands tied behind their backs.

    ReplyDelete
  41. When I first heard that Charlie Cox had landed the Daredevil lead and before seeing the series or any trailers, I thought he sounded like the worst possible choice. After I saw the entire series, Cox nailed the role and I can't imagine anyone better suited for it. Same with Ritter as Jessica Jones, I have a tough time picturing her as the lead character. The comic book Jessica was much more voluptuous looking. I have no doubt that Ritter can nail the sardonic side of Jessica's character but the rest I will just have to see before passing final judgment. She must have screened beautifully for the role otherwise, I can't imagine Marvel hiring her. After Daredevil, I can't wait to see this and the remaining Netflix Marvel series.

  42. Thanks for your response, I am not a comic book reader. So her and Luke Cage are matched quite while. It would be interesting to find out if their daughter gets any of their superpowers.
Did you used to do YouTube viewing The Booth at the End?

  43. IMPRISONED?! are you kidding me?! why not murder him and throw him into the sun?!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. so you would want to see THAT? is it possible that they won't show it?

    ReplyDelete
  45. So we can expect Daredevil to pop up anytime cause well...Hell's Kitchen!

  46. Christopher DeBono10 May 2015 at 18:59

Killing him would add more demons to Jessica's life. She had him imprisoned as her way of rising above that dark side of her life.

She has shown signs of having her parents powers, however she's most likely going to stay an eternal baby due to how slow time moves in the Marvel Universe.

    ReplyDelete
  48. They have to show her back story otherwise her actions would not make sense. And they would not show That, only "imply" Scenes. And no I would not want to see that, its sad stuff, But for the sake of knowing what causes someone to act and behave a certain way knowing their back story is important.

If you just saw a girl with superpowers being a private eye, you would have to wonder why is she not flying around and saving people, if you didn't know her past.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Or she becomes mysteriously 15 as a secondary mutation.

  50. Christopher DeBono10 May 2015 at 21:01

    Hopefully :)
They need more teen female superheroes. Kamala is pretty much the only one of note since the others are all adults now.

  51. Sounds interesting but I'm still cautious, because of Daredevil. I mean, as good as that show was, it actually didn't live up to my expectations. So in turn I'm lowering them for AKA-JJ...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think the question is more: Will they adjust her past somehow? And if yes, how?
