Thanks to Season Zero and LullaSerieWhore for sending us this update.

The show is now entitled “Blackbirds” and the shooting is expected to start in the summer, in Toronto. With the upfronts coming soon (TNT is on May 13th), more information should come out. Will Roy Harper/Speedy (Colton Haynes) be a part of it after leaving Arrow? It’s very likely…

  1. Blackbirds honestly sounds better, but draws a bit towards Birds of Prey. Looking forward to see whom they are going to cast.

  2. I didn't know this show ws supposed to be linked to the Arrowverse? I don't think it was, right?

Also, not sure about the new name. I don't hate (actually kinda like it), but I do think the name Titans is better known than Blackbirds.

When I hear Titans linked to superheroes, I immediately think of the Teen Titans. Blackbirds doesn't have the same effect on me.

Then again, I'm not that well known with the DC universe (I know more about Marvel), so maybe DC fans won't have this problem.

  3. I preferred Titans, I don't even know what Blackbirds is supposed to mean.

  4. right?! why not leave the team name, Arrow "Green Arrow", The Flash, Supergirl, why not leave it

    ReplyDelete
  5. Should've left it as Titans but w/e. Shrugs.

    ReplyDelete
  6. yeah there was the VERY strong possibility that it would be part of the Flarrow Universe, so is Supergirl. Blackbirds is cool and all but it makes it feel like a NEW superhero team instead of of a WELL known superhero team

  7. the only "Blackbird" i can think of is Nightwing

  8. No clue. But I look forward to the show.

  9. same, is it confirmed that it's picked up for SERIES or only for the pilot?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Blackbirds is great title but they DEFINITELY should've left the original title, Roy could become part of the series?! whoa

    ReplyDelete
  11. Can't remember at this point. I think to series but someone else has to confirm it for U.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Only a pilot for now.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's weird though. They're the Teen Titans. And Nightwing's the only bird motif hero.

    ReplyDelete
  14. oh ok, i just thought with all this promotion, it was finally picked up for series, dang it!

    ReplyDelete
  15. dove as well? But still a weir choice, not familiar if there is a comic book series or some sort of it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They still haven't cast Nightwing?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't think he's in this iteration. Wait are you referring to the Teen Titans? Or Blackbirds? Because the Titans have had a series since the late 1960s- early 70s I believe. Never heard of Blackbirds though.

  18. I meant BBs. Don't know either.

  19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackbird_(comics)

    ReplyDelete
  20. no yeah i know, i meant on THIS show the only black bird that's a regular is Nightwing

    ReplyDelete
  21. i don't think they've cast ANYONE, if Colton really IS coming to the show he's the only one

    ReplyDelete
  22. that's Marvel not DC

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well technically he's just animals and shapeshifting. But yeah I guess in a way.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Might be the team has a lot members who weren't in the titans.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Isn't he more of a blue bird, or red bird in the new 52 before he became a spy? Not much of a black bird either.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can't see Colton Hayes signing on full-time to this.

    ReplyDelete
  27. hate the the title, titans sounded so much better, this title I hate.

Blackbirds seems to be a direct reference to Raven and Nightwing. They might be planning on including Bette Kane, the original Bat-Girl who would later take on the name Flamebird and darken the colour pallet of her costume. They may also alter Starfire's appearance to add wings and/or bird like motifs. Other than that I can't see how the term Blackbirds relates to the team.

  29. Extremely odd title....made me think of The Blackhawk Squadron at first.

But as the comments note, there are a few people with bird motifs involved. Nightwing, Raven, Hawk & Dove.

    ReplyDelete
  30. they've said that the characters are basically the same as in the Cartoon Network show though: Dick Grayson "Robin/Nightwing", Starfire and Raven and 2 new ones

    ReplyDelete
  31. i thought Beast Boy wasn't going to be on the show?

    ReplyDelete
  32. yeah i guess, DANG IT! it definitely makes no sense to rename it then

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah, this is a really confusing title that doesn't seem to have anything to do with Teen Titans.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Errr, Nightwing, Raven, Hawk, and Dove....

    ReplyDelete
  35. The title change may have had to do with another show bearing a similar title, NBC's short-lived Titans starring Casper van Dien.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Titans sonded better.

Sounds like a poorly authenticated item. "Arrow" is on the CW network, not TNT. Colton Haynes does NOT play "Speedy", he plays Roy Harper, aka Arsenal (Oliver Queen's sister Thea is nicknamed "Speedy.") And it's already been reported that Colton Haynes is leaving Arrow to pursue other offers in film, but no mention of another superhero-based tv show. There's no connection between TNT's Titans/Blackbird/Whateveryoucallit and any of the DC shows on CW (Arrow & Flash) or CBS (Supergirl), though there is connection between those shows (both have the same showrunners/producers.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ya this shows and the DC/CW universe have zero connection so no Roy Harper played by Colton Haynes will not be a part of it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Also good lord that's a terrible title. Should have kept Titans.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Plus another show for WGN is called like that.

    ReplyDelete
  41. "Will Roy Harper/Speedy (Colton Haynes) be a part of it after leaving Arrow? It’s very likely…"

    No it's not.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Honestly, there should be a 'bird' theme anyways considering most of the characters in this version of Teen Titans will have a bird moniker.

    - Nightwing
    - Raven
    - Hawk
    - Dove

The only ones missing bird monikers will be Starfire and Oracle.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not tooooo crazy over the title change...

    ReplyDelete
  44. I heard the line-up was Nightwing, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Right except Hawk and Dove aren't on this version from what's been said it's Cyborg, Raven, Nightwing, Starfire and Beast Boy. And even then it's still a weird name. They're the Teen Titans.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Nope... http://nerdist.com/exclusive-which-dc-characters-will-be-on-tnts-the-titans/

    ReplyDelete
  47. Roy in the show huh?? I really doubt it I didn't like him in arrow because he was getting to close to oliver lolol but I don't mind him in another show.

    ReplyDelete
  48. First i was CW, after that is CBS, not TNT how many more networks will be in the same universe?
