  2. Looks fun

  3. This looks like Mistresses in the 1960's (or whatever time period it's on lol).

  4. That looked like it will be fun!

  5. It doesn't look like my cup of tea but I think it could actually find an audience on ABC if it wasn't so horribly scheduled.

  6. Really looking forward to it.

  7. What are the chances that I commented the exact same thing.

  8. Might give it a shot just because I love Joanna Garcia

  9. Only a true story. It's based on Lily Koppel's book.

  11. I feel it's gonna be a nice fun fluffy summer show...

  12. Definitely watching it and its looks pretty expensive too great visuals.

  13. Wow in four trailers Strahovski only gets three words. That's odd.

  14. To be completely honest I don't remember her being in the pilot lol.

  15. Airing after The Bachelorette would be better IMO.

  16. Yeah I agree. ABC clearly likes TW better and I can't complain too much since that is the one I am interested too but I feel they will be worse off overall than if it was the other way around. I highly doubt TB is able to boost TW while I think it would have been able to boost TWC.

  17. Yeah, what is up with that? She's the biggest name in this entire thing.

  18. Well that might explain the lack of Yvonne and Wilson Bethel in the trailers. I don't think they were originally going to be in the pilot. Had this show not been delayed, they wouldn't have been in this.

  19. They both play pretty significant roles in the book, so they'll probably be more involved past the first episode. Yvonne Strahovski is going to kill as Rene Carpenter but she slays in everything so that's no surprise.

  20. No, she's not. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but you can probably deduce from the trailer that she's the sexpot and that makes for a complicated relationship with the other women.

  21. Okay thank goodness, i'm already deppressed that Zachary Levi is going to be the Big Bad of Heroers Reborn. I can't have the other half of Charah be evil too. Well i don't really see her doing sexpot things in the promo because she's barely in the promos, i see that other girl doing it but okay.

  22. Well at least there's some Yvonne and some Wilson in the latest trailers, so YAY to that, finally.

Also I'm definitely sold on this now. Like I genuinely can't wait for it to start...

  23. I meant in the "Hollywood glamorous" sense of the word. She stands out from the other women by how she dresses and her different sense of self. They're mostly Jackie O's to her Marilyn Monroe, which highlights a lot of ideas about women "should" or "shouldn't" be at the time. It'll be a fun character to watch her play-- complicated and layered but not Hannah McKay, don't worry. (Though, how great was she in that role?!)

  24. This is definitely very different than the types of roles Yvonne has played. I just wish they'd show more of her in the previews so we can get an idea of who she's playing. I was a little concerned that ABC didn't think she had any lines worth showing in the trailer. Although the previews are all so lighthearted, and she has the serious role in the show. Most of the dialogue they show in the promos are cute one-liners. She might not have any clips that fit the tone of the previews.

  25. "But it's got feathers!"
    ......No.
    :D

  26. Ohh ok, so she's ahead of her time?

  27. Where's Wilson, i don't see him

    ReplyDelete
  28. He's walking in with Yvonne at the part, and he's sitting by her with the guitar when she's lounging in the that night shot at the pool. And in the picture of all the astronauts he's on the far left.

  29. Rock those feathers, lady! Don't listen to the other desperate astrowives!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, I'd say she is ahead of her time in a lot of ways from a 2015 perspective. So are the other astrowives, though, just in different ways.

A lot of the story is how these women were thrust into the national spotlight and became overnight famous right on the cusp of massive social changes for women. You see them doing The Twist in the preview-- that's very early '60s, which were similar to the 1950s when it came to how women were supposed to behave in society. The story of the space race involving their husbands spans over a decade and these women were every bit as famous as their husbands during that time. Everything they did was judged and evaluated against the ideas of society & the roles of women at the time. They were like Michelle Obama or Amal Clooney would be today and it all happened to them pretty much overnight after their husbands were chosen to be the first men to go into space. So, on top of all the sudden fame (which not all of them really enjoyed) and the pressure to constantly act as like America's Perfect Wives, they were mothers to young children and dealing with the fact that the men they loved were training to be hurled into outer space, which had never been done before. They didn't know if their husbands would come back but they had to keep smiling for the camera and wearing the right dresses and saying the right things. Part of the point of the story is that not much has changed in how we hold up women in this way today, it's maybe just gotten worse with the internet.

  31. Damn that's horrible, poor women. Did Yvonne's character enjoy it?

I don't know about this show it looks kind of boring. I'll watch the first episode but not sure if I'm going to commit to it.

  33. It seems great. The only thing I have against it is the woman from Chuck. I don´t like the way she acts and seeing those trailers, they all look great, but she´s the only one who doesn´t fit there. She doesn´t look realistic. I don´t buy it to her that she´s from that period.
