  1. The Inhumans are a cult and I don't trust any of them. Not surprised Jiaying's alive but wow, she and Cal are horrible parents. How did she survive that anyway?

Mike was a nice surprise and the one of the highlights of the episode.

And yes, continue to seethe that Coulson and Lance are going to seek out Ward. I've been waiting for this. And I missed Ward so much this episode but I'm comforting myself with the fact that there's good stuff ahead for him.

    Good episode!

  2. OH MY GOD BEST EPISODE EVER!!! I need a few moments to collect my thoughts because that was just amazing in every aspect in the entire universe...

  3. That was an AMAZING episode ! Loved all the reveals.

what happen? is this shield vs shield conflict going to end anytime soon?

  5. Most shippers get excited over holding hands, a kiss, or a sex scene.

The FitzSimmons fandom gets excited over a sandwhich. Yep...a sandwhich. To our ship, that’s the best thing EVER.

  6. Yes!! Deathlok. I'm so glad to see him again. And omg, Skye's mom..that scene with her and Skye was so intense! I really liked Lincoln, Luke Mitchell was a good addition to the mix! I loved all the scenes with Coulson and Hunter!! What a pair hahaha! Excited to see more of these two..

And Jemma, my love!! I knew it! She and Fitz worked together so well! That was great! A good episode, for sure! Can't wait to see Skye reunited with the team!!

  7. Well, I'll be damned! Many people cried foul that Coulson would turn to Ward without even calling the people that were trustworthy and I argued that it'd be a Deus Ex Machina to bring characters not hinted beforehand, but as it turns out that's EXACTLY what happened! Was really great to see Deathlok again, and with a decent costume to boot! And yes, even with Deathlok Coulson is still going for Grant! Hahaha!

An incredibly amazing episode! Can't wait to see what's next! :)

  8. Brilliant episode--loved every second of it.. Chicago deep dish pizza night for the inhumans. Who knew!?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Not familiar with Inhumans?

  10. How could someone vote this episode poor?

    Trolls will be trolls...

  12. Great to see Gunn! Or whatever his name is on the show. I'd love to see him be a fixture here on out, but he's probably too cheap to have on the team regularly.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I know a little about them from what I've researched about the comics but not too much.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Throughout the entire week, I kept coming up with different scenarios trying to figure out what Simmons would do. One of my ideas was a secret message by her to Fitz hidden in the infamous sandwich. I wasn't exactly close, but so excited about the return of the sandwich!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well they are more hidden society than cult

I can't understand how can this show just get better and better episode after episode. For the past couple episodes it was like each one of them were season finales. I'm loving this show so much... I can't believe there aren't more people watching. This is one of the best things on TV right now. It's in my top 5 best shows on television: 1.Game of Thrones, 2.Mad Men, 3.Downton Abbey, 4.The Walking Dead, 5. Agents of Shield.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Most people suggest healing factor, similar to Wolverine, which is not much of a stretch given her slow aging. I'm guessing Whitehall just left her for dead and she survived by that.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Add POI in there ( Personally, not including your # 2 and # 3 ). Everybody's list is interesting, though, and relevant to each person . Agree completely that it feels like we have been watching season finales. They have really been throwing a lot ( including money) into these episodes and it has been great. Hoping for a Season 3.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's certainly my favorite show ever and it pains me every week to see it get low ratings. This show EASILY should be scoring low 2's or even mid 2's. It boggles my mind that not a lot of people are watching the show (live for that matter).

    ReplyDelete
  20. THE GREATEST EPISODE OF THE SEASON EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIKE PETERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FITZSIMMONS IS BACK IN FULL FORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY'RE GOING TO FIND WARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING, JUST PLAIN AMAZING EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! did not expect Mike to appear, they definitely kept it hidden, no pictures no news and the even kept his name off the credits. I was SO wishing that Jemma and Leo had a plan and i was so HAPPY that it was true, THE SANDWICH RETURNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP CALLING YOURSELF SHIELD GONZALES, YOU ARE NOT SHIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the Inhumans can go straight to hell!!!!!!! what kind of people embrace and hug MURDERING PSYCHOPATHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i can't believe these people are essentially a cult, SO Jiaying IS still alive, good to see but don't trust her one BIT! i realized something tonight: Hunter is officially our new comic relief

    ReplyDelete
  21. we should've known, this woman didn't age for decades and cutting her up will stop her? we have our cult leader in her though

    ReplyDelete
  22. the Elders are from the comics? i thought it was Royal Family or something?

    ReplyDelete
  23. hilarious right? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  24. - For just one moment I thought that Coulson might actually do some self analysis as to whether or not that he's in the right. Should have known that he's too arrogant for that.
    - Skye's mom is still alive?

    ReplyDelete
  25. WHAT DO I THINK? Let me collect my feelings first!
    MIKE is BACK!
    THE SANDWICH is BACK!
    PERU SELFIE is BACK!
JIAYING is BACK! (is that really her??? Where the hell was she all this time?)

    JEMMA AND FITZ ROCK!
And even though Mike is with them, they still need Grant Ward...

    ReplyDelete
  26. arrogant for trying to stop these wannabe SHIELD agents?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Arrogant for never considering that he might be in the wrong. Garrett tried to tell Coulson a truth, but it conflicted with what Coulson thought so it had to be wrong. Cal tried to tell Coulson a truth, but it conflicted with what Coulson thought so it had to be wrong. Now, the Real SHIELD is trying to tell Coulson a truth, but it conflicts with what Coulson thinks so it has to be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes, in 1x02 (long time ago:D) when they arrived to the temple, Fitzsimmons took a selfie, and that is the picture Fitz was looking at when he was packing! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. If I recall, the Council of Elders and the Royal Family are two separate groups of the Inhumans.

    ReplyDelete
  30. http://media.giphy.com/media/IYyn46tl55Yyc/giphy.gif

That was some great episode. Anyone could see that Jemma and Fitz were faking it. I ave a feeling Bobbi knows it.

Nice set of surprises tehre. Mike's return and Skye's mother being alive tho i have afeeling hat is one of those "elders" inhumans that shapeshift into whatever he/she wants and is using Skye mother's body to get to Skye and crazy papa Dr. (i always forget his name).
And of course the most predicatble move ever... seeking Ward for help to track down Skye's father and getting to her.
May was ruight instead of dealing with what is rest of Hydra they are going over who should take the lead. Why couldnt Gonzalex take the same diplomatic approach that he had with May?, why not trust Coulson in the first. Both groups are doing really abd desicions and are distracted of what they are supposed to do. HYDRA is going to come abck to bite them in the ass.
I wonder if any of the events in the avengers movie will have an effect on SHIELD. If they are, they are gonna be full of super robots who wants to kill them. and i guess some inhumans will eb required to deal with them.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ohhh yeah! now i remember seeing it LOL that was great

    ReplyDelete
  32. the FAKE SHIELD ISN'T telling ANY truth! they called Skye a THING!

    ReplyDelete
  33. so who's the better option? right now it's looking like a cult

    ReplyDelete
  34. *cough*ShadesOfSimmons*cough*

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thank you Fitz for being loyal, and hey Simmons helped.
And Finally an immortal who is still alive! Glad Skye's mom is alive. And I don't know their their end game is, But I support The Inhumans idea to protect their own regardless of their past. What am I saying, I love the Inhumans.

And oh Hell yea, Coulson! Oh hell yea, Go to Ward, bring him in you team, Re form the original team. Maybe that's hoping for too much, but more Ward is gonna be awesome.

Skye needs to stop seeing shit in black and white. That's not the world you live in any more.

And I hope BS Shield gets F-ed up once the show is parallel to the Avengers 2.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jiaying probably is Immortal based on the amount of shit Whitehall did to her, or rapid regeneration.
And them wanting to hide from Humans is legit. example x man.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Royal Family

    ReplyDelete
  38. i'll be damned! so they ARE evil, so are the Royal Family usually Earth-bound or are they in space so they can kick out the Council and live peacefully among normal humans?

    ReplyDelete
  39. well there's nop denying it these people are EVIL and it looks like maybe Bobbie CAN be swayed to the GOOD side

    ReplyDelete
  40. They could be on Earth or the moon.
but we don't know for sure on the council till we actually see them and hear what they have to say.

    ReplyDelete
  41. she just saw Raina who's been her arch-nemesis for 2 years and these people are hugging her and PROTECTING her?! you know when Raina learns her powers and controls them she'll use them to kill and torture people

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, but I do deny it. Gonzalez is correct. The problem with SHIELD wasn't Hydra. It was all of the secrets. It was the frame of mind that those secrets bred. That's why Cap destroyed the new helicarriers instead of trying to reprogram them. It wasn't just Hydra that had to be destroyed, but the old SHIELD, that Coulson is still a part of, had to be torn down too.

    ReplyDelete
  43. hmm nope they don't even let her call her family? and they sound like they won't let her leave

    ReplyDelete
  44. Doesn't matter what she does after she learns to control, if she uses her powers to protect her type of people I would be OK with it, if something else, I will have to see what and why.
Once she transformed she was no longer human, no longer plays by the human rules.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Her family is on that mountain also, maybe they should also actually meet before she feels the need to leave.
And if they don't let her leave, I would advocate using her powers to leave by force.
But if I was her, as long as they want to teach her how to control her powers, I would let them, this way she can do what she wants to later.

    ReplyDelete
  46. so you're with those TRAITORS huh okay, secrets are need to protect people otherwise it would all chaos all time. These people talk about being secret-free but what the first thing they did? planted spies in SECRET and then called powered ALLIES "things" or "pets". They don't represent SHIELD at ALL! and they need to stop pretending they are doing good when in reality they're incarcerating good people and talking about KILLING the current leader of an organization they claim to love. If you don't want the god guys to win then what are you watching?

    ReplyDelete
  47. hmm that's a very good point and with HER powers she wouldn't give them a choice. I'm not fully trusting Jiaying honestly and surprised Cal's still alive, you meant them right?

    ReplyDelete
  48. even if this Inhuman tribe try to kill innocent people?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yea them, and till now I still support with Cal did, but not how he still acts crazy, he should learn control. And Jiaying is Skye's mom, one of the person she was looking for all her life, If she doesn't hug her I would be a bit pissed. She should also not hate her father as much.- more like just not approve of what she is doing. Much like a parent can't really hate their kid if they you know work at the strip club or committed a crime. They still have your back. They may not approve but they still on your side.
And I feel like if Skye really wants to go Jiaying will let her.

    ReplyDelete
  50. you remember who Cal is right? and yeah i need as much as mother Jiaying until and if she turns not evil but cult-like

    ReplyDelete
  51. Inhumans want to be hidden and safe, but if humans try and come for them, if the Kree try and come for them by force yes kill. Unless you have abilities that let you trap, disable or capture people, but at some point if its a full on assault then yea its kill or be killed.

And who is innocent, all the Innocent people are in their homes doing normal things and working.
Most of the people on the show are part of an organization that know the risk of their work and are actively doing something that has a possibility of being injured or killed by someone on the other side.

    ReplyDelete
  52. but her face is full of scars

    ReplyDelete
  53. If I was Skye and Cal told me what happened to my mother, I would be like go do it Daddy kill that bad man.

What happened on that scene is basically the writers conveniently made it so Coulson kills Whitehall so Skye can still hate Cal when he tries to kill Coulson out of frustration of not finally getting revenge by your own self after 20 years more or less.

    ReplyDelete
  54. no i mean civilians in the world that have nothinbg tio do withj world and yeah if villains come in and try to take and kill them then HELL YEAH fight with all their might

    ReplyDelete
  55. although wasn't his revenge for nothing though? Jiaying's alive. But don't forget Cal killed a lot of innocent people in the way not just HYDRA

    ReplyDelete
  56. yeah it surprised me that she doesn't heal all the way

    ReplyDelete
  57. maybe each part of her body that was cut up individually healed by itself first then moved closer and attacked itself and once full, it was all like I'm safe now, no more over using my abilities.
    - basically can't speculate much till we hear fully.
    - or it was so the writers can "show" you that it "her" and not a twin.
    - personally if I give someone Healing Factor, I make them heal fully.

    ReplyDelete
  58. maybe she had those scars before the change

    ReplyDelete
  59. oh but wouldn't it heal her? and she didn't have them before, we saw her and she didn't have scars

    ReplyDelete
  60. Like I said civilians are all doing their own things, they don't often get involved. And if I was a Inhuman I would have no reason to take an initiative to kill normal people out of the whim on a preventive mater, Thats what Real Shield and Gonzalez is trying to do with Coulson and his powered people.

And yes the civilians will get involved during the Avengers 2 movie greatly, and that why there will be Captain America civil war, but even then I will be on the Cap's side.

    ReplyDelete
  61. ah. I don't really watch this show on a regular basis

    ReplyDelete
  62. If Cal didn't know Jiaying was still alive then no, but if did knew, his love Jiaying was still severely tortured to where Whitehall was able to stay young because of it, for that torture alone the Revenge is warranted. In revenge Mode sure Cal is bad from others view point, but from Cal, its basically I got to basically get my revenge.

And who did Cal kill so far, Granted I can't name them all, but the ones in his lab had guns, they were not strictly living in the Civilian world.

    ReplyDelete
  63. But the other part of Gonzalez new agenda is to take out and control people with powers, not looking at the future of that world, still living by human laws but wanting to play on the field with the supers and the aliens.

Even Captain America wouldn't agree to his moving forward plan, as he would be one of his target. And if he is not who is he and his people to decide who is dangerous and who isn't. Leave that to the supers to be handled by the people on its level.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Great episode. I guess the theory about Skye's mom was true. Sadly, I'm not sure I trust her anymore. I wonder if Cal knew she was alive? I like Lincoln. I hope he ends up being trustworthy for Skye's sake. The situation with Raina isn't going to end well. Coulson and Hunter make a fun pair. I cheered when Mike showed up. I love that Fitz and Jemma are playing real SHIELD. Next week looks good.

    ReplyDelete
  65. So leave a group of people to police themselves? That's always worked well.

    ReplyDelete
  66. That's why they have Avengers, JSA, JL, other Super Agencies and Every Superhero comic, those Superheros are policing them.

    ReplyDelete
  67. the village after Jiaying's "death"

    ReplyDelete
  68. they're afraid of ANY humans they're prejudiced themselves and they sound like they WOULD actually kill a normal human if the even step foot in "Afterlife"

    ReplyDelete
  69. I wasn't there didn't see. But I will decide on those facts if we ever get a flashbacks on it.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I doubt that, when most of them are pretty much humans with the gene to go thru Terrigenesis. And why would normal Humans come to afterlife, if some did they would be hikers or mountain climbers, they could be easily fooled to look the other way. They have been here for thousands of years, if enough people have gone missing they would of been found out already.

    ReplyDelete
  71. IIRC everyone of those organizations had a falling out point where the people felt that they went to far.

    ReplyDelete
  72. That's whats happening again and will.

But no matter the argument, I will remain on few characters side, I don't like organizations.

    ReplyDelete
  73. A little bit too much exposition for my taste. The stuff with Skye could have been handled with one scene about "you can't leave yet" less. Otherwise...I am so psyched that Mike is back. I had already resigned myself to the idea that the writers consider his story concluded.

    ReplyDelete
  74. or they've killed and buried them, i meant humans that DON'T have the gene

    ReplyDelete
  75. I smiled so hard at Fitz at the end. I kind of figured Simmons was faking it, and there was something off about the way Fitz confronted her, so I'm really glad they are back on the same page and boy that sandwich looked good.

Jiaying being alive isn't a huge shocker to me, it's pretty much a standard in comics, hell just in TV shows that if a character has a dead or missing parent they often come back. But there is a little part of me that wonders if that really is Jiaying or maybe an impostor. This show makes me paranoid!

Mike!! I had given up on seeing him again! Nice surprise there AOS!

I've rewatched so much BSG the past week that when I hear Gonzales talk about powered people being dangerous, I just think about Adama talking about Cylons!

The possible benefit of the Twins Peaks revival being put on hold, more Cal next season maybe? If he doesn't die. I love crazy crazy Cal.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Awesome episode! Skye's MOTHER IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Na no point to it. Lets just leave it at I don't see the Inhumans as evil or bad. We haven't even really met them, just introduced.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Must be HYDRA. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  79. First, I must apologise. I thought (or hoped) the writers would go on a more sophisticated way, not on the RS is a hateful bigot and Ward as an "oh-why-not" ally. This was a letdown to me.

Otherwise the best point was Mike's return. He was a logical step from Coulson, plausible as well in the limit of his resources yet it was a complete surprise, a good twist. Fitz was also good and I liked the scene with Skye and Lincoln on the hilltop - Skye being totally girly was a nice change. And of course I loved Hunter's Han Solo-ish quips.

In the rest there were too much theatrics, as may said. Cal seems to me a very forced plot device now, him keeping alive. Also - him knowing that his wife is alive and around? Ok, he only told before (as far as I remember), that he saw her being butchered, but it was a bit of a ruse to me. The Gonzales-May scenes would have been much better if Gonzales isn't such a narrow sighted zealot. This way it wasn't really a conflict.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I see I'm not the only one who noticed the Peru selfie. That was a nice touch. :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. FITZSIMMONS! I love those two. Glad they're back on the same page.

    ReplyDelete
  82. After Mike that Sandwich was my favourite surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Well, you only know what you had when you lost it. I found Fitzsimmons so boring the first season, but now I want them back, including selfies and Sandwiches.

    ReplyDelete
  84. true i won't pass judgement until i meet the Council, but definitely don't trust them

    ReplyDelete
  85. "can't keep it together" in a good way? and who are the Secret Warriors? from the comics?

    ReplyDelete
  86. I had to snicker at the notion that all Lincoln eats when he's at Afterlife is pizza and popcorn. Luke Mitchell doesn't exactly have the body of someone who eats those too often.

    ReplyDelete
  87. This was an okay episode for me. Loved all the scenes around SHIELD. Especially Fitz Simmons and May. Coulson and Hunter are a fun team up. For me the scenes at the after life felt a bit dragging. They could have made it a bit more concise. Luke Mitchell's Lincoln is strictly okay. I expected more spark from him. Loved the twist of Skye's mom being alive. I adore Diechen Lachman. So more her is always welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Brilliant move by the show on keeping J. August Richards' name out of the press release for this one and not mentioning him in any way, so that Deathlok showing up as Coulson's back-up would be a complete surprise. Well done!

But this episode only proved further how absurdly contrived it is for Coulson to turn to Ward. The only reason he's doing so is his desperation to find Skye (he doesn't need Ward to take on Gonzales)... and there would be no NEED to find her if Gordon just let her contact Coulson like she asked and let him know she's safe. Ugh.

The Coulson/Hunter banter - I couldn't love Hunter's wit and sarcasm more if I tried - and FitzSimmons' plan (even if I had an inkling of something being off when Simmons was so easily persuaded to help Gonzales and coldly told Fitz to leave) were totally awesome. Nice nod to continuity with that delicious sandwich, too.

Jiaying being alive is something many of us saw coming since Dichen Lachman is in the press releases up to episode 18, but it still provides interesting possibilities. I hope she doesn't keep the truth about her identity from Skye for too long, though, because that would seem manipulative. Raina keeping her hood on for so long during that scene was silly, because the audience already knows what she looks like post-transformation.

Afterlife is lovely, visually, and Lincoln is so cute and bubbly with his talks of pizza night and how to properly microwave popcorn. I'd like to see more of his power. And I still hope the show doesn't go for the cheap and easy "The Inhumans are eeeeeeevil, they just want to use Skye/separate her from her SHIELD friends" (Gordon's line about how Cal sealed the fate of his daughter was a little worrisome... and why are they still holding Cal captive, anyway?). We've had enough betrayals and double-crosses.

Other than the Ward thing (which we already knew was coming), my main disappointment with the episode was how two-dimensionally evil Gonzales is. I'd really been hoping for more shades of grey in the SHIELD vs. Olmost SHIELD conflict. Referring to a person with powers as a "thing" and howling over the fact that people he's actively hunting down and trying to kill are defending themselves, really? Gonzales is absolutely ridiculous. I was down for the Olmost SHIELD storyline at first, but now it seems to lack the complexity I'd been hoping for.

Overall, another excellent episode that just flew by. Excited for the Cavalry backstory next week! May is my favorite character and she doesn't get enough development, in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Didnt Cal tell Skye her mums name? So when she introduced herself as Jaiying woulsnt Skye have known who she was straight away?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah, in a good way, I'm freaking out 'cause Ward will be back.
Yep. Skye is Daisy (the leader), Coulson is Fury in this case and Ward is Hellfire (firebug). (http://marvel.wikia.com/Secret_Warriors_%28Earth-616%29)
Ward as Hellfire is a theory me and some others are sharing.
    - ties to Hydra
    - his proclivity for setting things (his family's house) on fire
    - his love for Skye/Daisy

    ReplyDelete
  91. Amazing episode! Really nice surprises.
-Coulson and Hunter road trip is one the best things of the episode.
-May being a new board member will be very interesting.
-YESS! to Simmons and Fitz working together again. Poor new SHIELD was fooled again.
-Deathlock was the best surprise. I was wondering if we were going see him again this season.
    - I love the whole inhuman introduction with Lincoln and their base. Lincoln does have nice eletric static power. His interaction with Skye was nice. Now let's hope the writeers doesn't make turn him in Ward 2.0 and make him a love interesting that betrays her. It would be super annoying.
-JIAYING being alive wasn't totally surprise since a lot of people suspected that but i'm glad she is back. Although there is something iffy about her. I can't really tell what it is. Her interacting with Cal was super weird and did he knew she was alive all this time? he did say to Whitehall he want revenge so he could reunite with her on the afterlife so he knew, right? Now the mystery is why she never looked for Skye. She send Cal to do it and how she was ok with the way he did all those killings? Looks like she can't leave the afterlife place or wouldn't make any sense why she wasn't the one looking for Skye and not the crazy father. I can't wait to see her being Skye mentor.

    ReplyDelete
  92. So what exactly separates them from Coulson's SHIELD in that regard? Before it was Skye, none of them cared AT ALL about inhumans.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I think Gordon's line is just hyperbole on the show's part, it probably means that the Elders believe he orchestrated Skye's transformation in his desperation to connect with his daughter and that it threatens to expose their secret society to the world, thus endangering them all. That fear is also likely why they're being very wary to allow Gordon to send a message from Skye to Coulson.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Spot on. I really hope this is the path they will follow on the show and not the classic painting inhumans as the ultimate vilains as a black and white situation. It doesn't look like they use the diviner to force the transformation process in all of inhumans. They have a slow and selective process so it's understadning they didn't like the way Cal approached the situation. Cal was desperated to reunite his family at afterlife but did the wrong way. Now they don't know what to do with him since he is not an inhuman and technically can't stay there with Jiaying and Skye/Daisy.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Haven't seen the episode but have read spoilers (I know I am bad), so it is going to be Ward and Deathlok after all, had a feeling it would be. Just a question as to what kind of deal will be struck between Ward and Coulson.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yeah, he knew that his wife is still alive. Jeff Bell told in an interview that Cal stitched her together after he found her and let her use her healing ability. But that begs the question if Whitehall is really dead. Jiaying was upset with him that he lost Skye then and they split and that's the reason why she reacted so weird around him.
Cal had the hope that if he finds Skye, they will be a family again. I don't think that she is ok with those killings. And you have a point there. It's weird that she wasn't looking for Skye. Why didn't Cal tell Skye that her mother is alive. There is something very off about it. And what's the reason for "upgrading" himself and going totally mad if his wife isn't dead. And why the hell didn't she tell Skye who she really is? I think Lincoln knows, 'cause he had this weird expression on his face.

  97. That's the question we all ask ourselves. Ward and Deathlok back....it will be very fraught with tension. I can't imagine who the others, especially Skye and Fitz, will react, when they find out that Coulson is teaming up with Ward....
    Watch the episode, it's awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I don't think so. What he told her about her was vague and ... far away from the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I don't think that it's "absurdly contrived" for Coulson to turn to Ward. Dr. List is a member of Hydra and working for Baron von Strucker (Age of Ultron) and Ward had connections in Hydra (still he wasn't Hydra) and he knows that Baron von Strucker is in charge ("The Writing on the Wall") so I think it makes sense. He don't need him against Gonzales ( who will probabaly add that to his list why Coulson has to be neutralized). The problem is how will he persuade Ward to work with him?

  100. I just read. The interview clears a few things but there still a shade feeling around. Raina said in more than one occasion that the baby parents (plural) were the monsters so yeah it does look like Jiaying and the inhumans weren't happpy with Cal approach of the situation but doesn't mean she is all good heart too. If they knew Skye/Daisy was alive and Cal have know that for a awhile why they didn't aproached her somehow in a easier way instead of letting Cal go all psycho on Skye and SHIELD basically forcing her transformation? there still a few interesting questions to be answered. Hopefully they will.
I suspect Jianying was a bit crazy too but since she is inhuman they gave her another chance while Cal is not an inhuman so he has no place at afterlife. Gordon doesn't care about Cal.

  101. The way that Coulson put it, this isn't about Hydra, it's about finding Skye... and they wouldn't need Ward's help (or anyone's) to find her if she was simply able to call them and let them know she's okay. That's why I'm calling contrivance. The writers orchestrated this need to find/save Skye as a device to necessitate Coulson turning to Ward.

yes but expecting skye to be loyal to them when she has been in the human world for so long is asking a lot

    ReplyDelete
  103. It's too bad Deathlok's return has been spoiled for you because that was one of the best moments of the episode, and they really did a good job keeping it under wraps until it aired. It's not the only twist in this episode, but it's the one that surprised me the most.

    ReplyDelete
  104. You certainly don't need to apologize... we all have our theories. Sometimes we're wrong, sometimes we're right, but it's merely a guessing game!

I too am disappointed in the way that Olmost SHIELD is being portrayed. Up until this episode, I thought there was some hope for them, but now Gonzales seems to just to be happy to kill anyone and anything that gets in his way. Sigh. I hope the Inhumans aren't yet another potentially interesting, complex faction that ends up simply being eeeeeevil.

    ReplyDelete
  105. After the SP and the promo for this episode came out I discussed it in great length here, that's why I apologized. I hoped very much that this conflict will be less black-and-white.

Regarding the inhumans I don't think they will be depicted as evil (AFAIK, in the Marvel universe many of them are positive), but after this simplification I can imagine a "you must belong to us" approach.

I was also a little disappointed how they handled Coulson's doubts. It was like a token scene, to show that yeah, he thinks about this, but then his buckle up, I want to be the director again decision was a haste solution.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Yeah, I remember your comments on the issue, it's just that I don't think there's any need to apologize for being wrong about Olmost SHIELD on your part. It's not like you insulted anyone else for having a different opinion or anything.

You raise a good point about Coulson as well... his pondering whether or not Gonzales was right about him not being fit to lead SHIELD did seem token because it was so brief and on-the-surface. Not that I want Coulson to be completely eaten by doubts or anything (or think he has any reason to be), but if the show was going to include that part at all, it should've been a little more substantial.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Am I the only one who found the "Jaiying being alive" reveal a little anticlimactic?
    Nice to see Mike Peterson.
And so pissed that Coulson is asking Ward for help.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Re Jiaying, so did I, but then I wonder if it isn't simply because I knew Dichen Lachman was in the press releases up to episode 18 (and it seemed unlikely that she'd be needed in so many episodes if she were only appearing in flashbacks). That's really the downside of keeping up to date with every single bit of news on the show, as I've been doing since I'm such a huge fan of it: I would've definitely been more surprised by Jiaying being alive if I hadn't known the actress was gonna be in so many episodes.

On the flip side, I'm so glad they managed to keep the lid on J. August Richards appearing because that Deathlok comeback was damn cool.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yeah, I am glad they didn't put his name in press release.

    ReplyDelete
  110. No, I don't thnk anyone has told her, her mum's name. Same as how Gordon dodged that when talking to her as well.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I suspected Deathlok would be back but didn't expect it so soon.
I saw no harm in spoiling Deathlok as it had already been mentioned many times in the discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I was so happy to see Mike again, that final scene with Fitz gave me hope for FitzSimmons and damn Skye, she doesn't even try to reach Coulson(I thought she could hack anything, come on Lincoln had monitors in his "office")

    ReplyDelete
  113. It makes sense that the Inhumans doesn't let her contact Coulson because they don't want to let ANYBODY know about them. They just want to be left alone, live in peace and safety. They're afraid that someone discover their little paradise and they'll do EVERYTHING to prevent that. They don't trust "normal people" (and look at Hydra and "real SHIELD", it's not far-fetched). I think the writers made it believable.

    ReplyDelete
  114. There are many open questions and I think some of them will be answered and then it will renew questions and we'll be frustrated again. ;)
I trust the writers that they make it all believable, they've so far. They did a great job. I love season 2. It's a lot of pain but still epic.

    ReplyDelete
  115. true, Skye should have a hard time trusting even her own parents in this situation. If her father was not already on the outs with his daughter, this last lie probably does not help.

    ReplyDelete
  116. this show is firing on all cylinders now, i seriously feel sorry for anyone dropping this show

    ReplyDelete
  117. I think she didn't heal fully was bc whitehall took alot from her. Meaning her body needed everything inside to heal herself fully. But he must of taken something from her that stops the healing stage at a certain point.

    ReplyDelete
  118. that can't be. The Inhumans whole DNA changes each of their cell should have whatever power they hold. Not one organ.

but if that's the case, its just bad power bio.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Clearly Blood is not the factor bc he would of drained her not cut her open. He must of harvested certain organs from her.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I didn't say anything about blood.

I'm gonna stick to my comment on her from above.
    - and add that maybe Cal also had some hand to it.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Is it just me who's tired with Skye? There's just too much of her! I wish the other characters are given the spotlights too...

    ReplyDelete
  122. Lets say she did fully heal but what if the elders gave her the scars for allowing a human to expose their kind and send a message to others.

    ReplyDelete
  123. lets not say that. just no.
there is a more simple reason to this and when you see it its your gonna have a reaction much akin to that's stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I made many predictions and none of them were stupid but we shall see who theory is right. You stick with yours and i will with me.

Let the best theory win lol.

    ReplyDelete
  125. But by not alowing her to tell Coulson she is ok Coulson will start a massive search for her. It would be a lot easier just to let her deliver a message saying she is fine that she needs to be away from SHIELD mess for her own sake but she is with people helping her. No need to get into the details. If Gordon learned anything from SHIELD and Coulson he should know he wouldn't just let her disappear like that. You know eventually Coulson will get to them somehow.

Well, she's a superhero to be, so... I guess you gotta stay with her xD
and she'll probably be the second link to the movies (Coulson being link one)

    ReplyDelete
  127. Gonzales does love his ship. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yeah, and I'm not sure what Gordon has to be paranoid about considering that Skye doesn't even know where she is. What's going to happen if she calls Coulson and tells him she's okay? She couldn't bring SHIELD charging to the Inhumans' front door even if she wanted to, because she doesn't know where it is.

    ReplyDelete
  129. huh cool, but isn't Hellfire a full-on villain, and Ward's more of an anti-hero

    ReplyDelete
  130. i hope she DOES try to hack the computers, this is Skye we're talking about. This is in NO way a bash just a comment but it's like the show forgot that Skye's a hacker

    ReplyDelete
  131. Nope, Hellfire is more a neutral character thus anti-hero.

    ReplyDelete
  132. ah huh interesting

    ReplyDelete
  133. I think the writers will explore that in the next episodes, they have a plan.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Exactly, it's like they wiped away that part of her

i do NOT like not-shield's attitude of prejudice (to the point of
homicide! as per-emptive defense(?!) against people with powers. veeery
nazi of them to view people that did not move against them and just r a
certain way as 'enemies'; how do they fail to see the irony?

but there's also the fact that not-shield is just not that good r they?
EVERYONE underestimates Fitz and Simmons and dismisses them as the
harmless labrats. and ok, i can c y enemies would do it -and then pay it
dearly-, but shield agents? shouldn't they know these labrats have bn
cleared for field duty and survived two years on the field as part of an
elite unit AND during some of the most difficult times for shield!!!
and simmons got so much better at undercover work! she survived in the
midst of hydra for months before they made her. and not-shield has their
profiles plus bobbi's report on simmons undercover at hydra. and they
    STILL fall for it.. huh!

    bravo simmons!

    go fitz!

u're just not that good not-shield!

well they did sideline her where she couldn't do anything

  137. Stephen S. Bowman9 April 2015 at 16:01

well i get why they mad Jaiying being alive so anticlimactic it was a bigger shocker than mike peterson being alive

    ReplyDelete
  138. Yeah I think you're right and she's been watch so .

    ReplyDelete
  139. I thought of Battlestar Galactica last week, when Gonzales said "I'm still the commander of this ship."
Also, the battlestars were basically space-aircraft carriers.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I just adore FitzSimmons. I really like how invaluable they have become and evolved beyond being the scientists of the team. Last week, Simmons captured Bobby and this week she sneaked out the toolbox with Fitz's help. And watching Simmons lie like a pro when she couldn't even convincingly roleplay last season is just entertaining as hell. She's getting so good at it, it's almost scary.
