Looking forward to this episode. I wonder if Lily will be sticking around for a while or not, and if she isn't I wonder if she'll just leave and come back as a big bad later or be killed off.
Just what I thought. The new actress looks just like Maleficent, she's perfect for the part. The teenage part was miscast in this case. Don't get me wrong, Nicole was great, but why did they cast a latina if Lily wasn't supposed to be one? Maleficent isn't latin, and as far as we know there is no father. This whole thing gives the impression this SL was an afterthought, even if I think it was planned.
Hmmm... Seems like Robin will not believe Regina at first but I hope he changes his mind. But who would believe her right away? "Your wife with whom you lived for three months is my evil half sister who resurrected herself and now pretends to be your wife just to take away my happy ending because you should be with me." "Oooooooookaaaaaaaay."
I don't understand why people are bothered about the races. Nobody complained about Emma being blonde and Neal being dark blond about Henry being a darker shade. Or why Emma is blonde by the way? Charming has not that blonde hair. Or one could complain about the size of Regina's father when he met Cora and later. The difference must have been more than 50cm. Why is skin color different from that?
Because you can dye your hair to any color you like, You can't do it with your skin. Size of Regina's father and any other fathers are changing during whole life. You can't do it with your skin.
1. Michael Jackson :D and 2. you can't shrink to half of your size either. Also Lily had not been rather white if you want to focus on that. The actors of Neal and Belfire had different ancestors too, so... But well I won't argue about races because I don't think it is right to argue with skin color. For me it's wrong to differentiate humans in races. After all races are a cultural product. I don't want to call anyone being racist but I just find it disturbing that people are disturbed about this. The important thing to believe in a character is the personality and so far that had worked every time in Once.
First, its not lorrhea but an argumentation. Second, basic problem is to differrentiate between latina and white-caucasian at all as she looks as different from her former self as did Neal or Cora or Henry or August.
Either you ignore my argument or fail to understand it. It's racist, that's all. Race is a category made by racism. It's nothing natural but a category produced by racists to construct the "Other". But I see clearly now why this discussion stays in the scientific sphere. If I roll my eyes more I am afraid they end up facing backwards so I better stop trying to have something called an actual debate.
Sweetie. It is not racist problem. It is a casting problem. They cast latin young girl, and suddenly she became white-caucasian adult?! Tffany Boone (young Ursula) was black and Merrin Dungey was black (adult Ursula), Rose McGowan is white-caucasian girl and Barbara Hershey is white-caucasian lady, etc. etc. It is a casting problem. Either you ignore my argument or fail to understand it.
If we take races as a given it still does not explain why do you care so much about that? What is the problem that it is a different race? It can't be appearance because I don't see any similarity between young Belfire and adult Neal either.
No but I find it funny because we could keep going on with me explaining how race is a construct and nothing natural and you would keep pointing out that the casting is wrong because of the race difference of the actresses. If I have to draw a picture of our arguments I would draw yours as a circle and mine as the tangents touching it. So I figured, why not breaking out of this. ;)
One question: Someone is forcing you to answering me? If "no", then stop. If "yes", call the police if you can. It was only a sarcasm, pointing one problem, without need to develop.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
So cool that latina Lily is now white-caucasian, adult Lily... *full sarcasm*
ReplyDeleteI think they definitely got the right actress to play older Lily.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how BAD this casting was.
ReplyDeleteKillian looks like he's ready to take Maleficent out if she takes one step closer to Emma.
ReplyDeleteI hope it was only "exception to the rule", 'cause previous casting were marvelous and so fitting to the role.

ReplyDeleteThey should've took the time to look for a latina actress to play adult Lily
ReplyDeleteYes. We - the viewers - kniw that. I wonder WHY creators didn't remember about that.

ReplyDeleteLove her to team up with her mother and be a villain!
ReplyDeleteI'm more excited about Regina actually leaving SB
ReplyDeleteYes! The other young/older pairings have always been on spot. So this really came as a surprise.
ReplyDeleteIf the producers knew who Lily's mother was when they cast the teenage version, it's the teenage casting that was wrong. Not the adult casting.
ReplyDeleteUnless there's a heretofore unseen, unmentioned father of Latin descent out there somewhere the adult Lily is more believable than the teen version.
Just what I thought.

She looks more evil lol
ReplyDeleteAladin :D
ReplyDeleteHer second leaving, after s03e09 "Save Henry".

ReplyDeleteOnce. Stop with that logorrhea about racism. The basic and only problem is latina and young Lily is now white-caucasian, adult Lily. That's all.

ReplyDeleteYou don't care - your problem. You, will never know Why I see problem in this. asting problem, not racist.
ReplyDeleteYou want to have the last word, don't you? ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd that is a issue?

ReplyDeleteOne last piece of advice then: You should mark sarcasm and irony in non-verbal communication otherwise a question might be answered. :D
ReplyDeleteSweetheart... I'VE PUT IT IN FIRST POST!
ReplyDeleteSo cool that latina Lily is now white-caucasian, adult Lily... *full sarcasm*
[And I didn't change my first post during that conversation].
