  • 3rd June 2016 - Anthony Hopkins Joins Cast
Anthony Hopkins has joined the cast of Transformers: The Last Knight.

Michael Bay will direct the fifth installment of the Paramount franchise that sees giant robots battle for intergalactic supremacy.

Mark Wahlberg will be back to star as the disgraced scientist turned hero, Cade Yeager, and, after a brief one-movie hiatus, Josh Duhamel will also be returning to the franchise as the ever-vigilant Lt. Colonel Lennox. No details were given about the role the English actor will be playing.

The announcement was made on the Transformers Twitter page with a message that read: "The man, the myth, the legend – help us welcome Sir Anthony Hopkins to the #transformers universe."

Hopkins casting news comes on the heels (or paws) of another Last Knight casting. Yesterday, Bay announced that Freya, an epileptic six-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier that was last month dubbed "Britain's loneliest dog", would have a role in the fifth Transformers movie.

  • 5th January 2016 - Michael Bay to Direct Film and will be his last
Shocking no one, Michael Bay has confirmed he’ll direct Transformers 5. But it seems the man who also brought you Pain & Gain, Bad Boys and the upcoming 13 Hours, among many others, has had enough of Car-robots fighting over ancient grudges — He also insists this is the last time he’ll be helming a film in the billion dollar-franchise he’s been leading since 2007.

  • 20th April 2015 - Movie expected in 2017; Shared universe confirmed
Marvel Studios has made shared universe multimedia franchises the most cohesive and lucrative entertainment business model of the 21st Century. But even as DC Comics/Warner Bros. and Star Wars (the grandaddy of all shared universes) both gear up for some shared universe expansions of their brands, it seems that almost every blockbuster franchise wants to change up their business model to compete in a post-Marvel world – and that includes the Transformers franchise.

Today we get official confirmation that the Transformers shared universe is coming – as well as word that indicates Transformers 5 will be arriving in 2017.

  2. There's another one?

I'm guilty of going to see it just for the robots but I really don't like this series anymore (1st movie wasn't that bad). Pretty bad when the cartoon version is better written than the movies. (Transformers Prime - I miss you!)

  5. I fear they'll create "original movies" asspin-offs(one with the military, one with teenagers, one with only Autobots, other with just Decepticons) and then the Team-Up Movie, called Transformers.

Oh, my God... Bay is a monster and MUST be killed ASAP. Let's make Bradley Cooper put a bullet between his eyes, please.

  7. I'm all for this, I've loved all the movies, I find them very enjoyable. I know the chances are slim with 3 sequels already on the way but I do hope James Cameron can expand the Avatar universe even more in a similar way. They should definitely do this with Star Trek as well, I'm actually surprised they haven't yet.
