MOVIES: The Flash - In Development at Warner Bros.

Thanks to Mr. Edmodo for the heads up.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are working behind the scenes to develop a story for Warner Bros.’ big-screen version of the DC Comic-based superhero The Flash. They are currently working on a treatment for the studio about the superhero, whose super speed allows him to seemingly break the speed of light and time travel. The character, whose origins began in 1940, have been part of the Justice League at DC Comics and has been given small-screen and feature treatments before, but with Lord and Miller on the case, The Flash will take on a totally different dimension.

  1. Yes, but I'd prefer a Wally West adaptation.

  2. Wow, I wasn't expecting so many "no"s (although it is early in the poll). Even with all the criticism people are giving the DC Cinematic Universe I'm still excited about all the films they have coming out.
The only thing I'm worried about is if they start putting restrictions on the show but after Smallville/Superman Returns, surely they're not going to try throw another hit show under the bus for a movie that may not work out.

  3. I'm kinda ready for the comic book shows and movies to take a back seat for different things.

  4. That's not happening.

  5. Uh this has been known for a while. They've even cast an actor.

  6. so it won't make the same mistake as taking the Suicide Squad off the DC TV Universe?"

  7. you honestly believe that? they already took the Suicide Squad from the TV Universe

  8. Try seeing it from the POV of comic book fans, who have waited several decades for the slightest hint of a decent adaptation of their favorites, suffering through what used to be painfully horrible movies just for a glimpse at the characters they cared so much about. You think having a few years with a fair number of comic book adaptations that you're not even FORCED to watch is a horrible thing? It's not like those are the only movies coming out. Saying they should 'take a back seat for other things' is basically like saying 'I know you like those movies, and there's nothing forcing me to watch them, and there's plenty of other big movies that don't involve comics that I can watch if I choose to, but I still want them to go away just so no one can watch them.'

  12. You guys even posted an article on The Flash forum iirc about Ezra Miller being cast before. I remember talking about it here.

  13. Yeah its old news but I think Phil Lord and Christopher Miller involvement is something we didn't know before.

  14. I can't remember what interview it was, but recently it was revealed nothing in the flash universe is off limits to the tv show The Flash.
Whether or not that changes (like how Arrow lost the suicide squad), who knows?

  15. So are they related? They have the same surname? If they were related I wouldn't wonder why he got the role.

  16. If they took the tv show away for the movie, I'm pretty sure they'd lose so many fans

  17. true, i still can't believe they actually took the Suicide Squad off the TV Universe

  18. I can't get hyped over a DC movie until the put out a good one that isn't Batman related.
So I gave it an unsure...

  19. I think them giving Wally to the movie branch, might be the best way to keep the CW Flash intact... We'll see...

  20. Yeah, I thought announcing who the writers were the news with this entry.

Because I've definitely seen the Ezra bit on the site before.

  21. I did a search and found the Ezra announcement article

  22. Oh YAY! I'm not losing my mind....

  23. The movie being in development is old news, we even know that it will be released some time in 2018. But looks like the only just hired Lord and Miller to develop a story.

  24. Not really interested if it's about Barry Allen. I already have one Barry in my head. Maybe if it's about Jay Garrick or Wally, that's a different story.

  25. I'm just asking myself how long these superhero stories are going to continue to even work anymore, given how much the real world has changed since most of these superheros were conceived (i.e., in the 1930's and 1940's). I mean, seriously, how could even Superman or the Flash hope to maintain a secret identity in the age of ubiquitous surveillance and satellite cameras?

  26. We alredy knew this thee only thing ew is that those two guys wrerent envolve.

  27. They just pulled the Suicide Squad because they don't want to confuse the audience with two live-action rendition of the characters at the same time (this is so BS). With the same logic, they might just withdraw the rights for The Flash when the movie starts approaching and bye bye awesome TV show that we all love. So unless DC makes a statement saying that they'll let the TV Flash be, I am not at all on board with a Flash movie.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So... Bart Allen it is? I still don't like what's going on... I tought the good thing about having movies and series apart was to not pull characters from them and fell limited.

    They're still doing it...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Get ready to see the series being cancelled now, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The are way behind the process than where I expected them to be for a Flash movie. They just began writing a story now?

    ReplyDelete
  31. You still can anyway. It's a multiverse, it's just DC apparently has no faith in non comic book readers to get that.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You can do anything you want since they're separate universes, but it's DC... they're weird and picky a out everything...

I think that they should cast Grant Gustin as the Flash since he is doing so good in the hit TV show The Flash
