Madam Secretary - There But For the Grace of God (Season Finale) - Advance Preview and Teasers

Madam Secretary closes out its first season with its freshman finale on Sunday. The episode kicks off right from where episode 21 ended. Bess walks into the interrogation room where Juliet is and starts asking questions. However, Juliet promptly accuses Bess and says Bess could have been the one sitting in her chair. This causes Elizabeth to flash back to her time at the CIA, where we see then-Director Dalton talking to her about an important report she wrote and subsequently offering her a new job. Flashbacks are seen throughout the hour and are all about Bess considering that job offer.

Also, despite the fact that a deal with Iran has been signed, there is still fallout from the events connected to the coup. One particular Senator, Raymond Caruthers, is pushing for the truth. He even gives Elizabeth a subpoena to appear before a Senate investigation committee looking into the government's involvement in the coup. Bess is not afraid to reveal the truth, but Russell and the President come up with the executive privilege and pressure her to take that. When the Senator hears about this, he takes an alternative and interesting route to get to the truth. Needless to say, it all makes for a pretty tense situation. Especially when Bess hears she could be facing charges while the President won't protect her.

A few other teasers from the season finale:
-Harrison is asking Stevie to be his plus one for a formal event at the White House. This might or might not lead to some bonding between the two.
-Isabelle does not appear in the flashbacks, but she is mentioned.
-There are, however, two dead characters appearing in the flashbacks: George Peters and Andrew Munsey. George appearing brings the season full circle, as we last saw him in the series premiere.
-Mike B returns to give Elizabeth advise on legal matters regarding the Senate hearing.
-A portrait of the late Vincent Marsh is being removed from the State Department, but the question is what to do with it. And what will Nadine have to say about this portrait of her ex-lover?
-Pretty much all the questions that are still left unanswered from the season will be answered in the finale.

Watch the season finale of Madam Secretary this Sunday at 8/7c on CBS. Here's a first-look promo for the episode:

  2. Hi Daniel! Nice to see, we Dutchies are also quite good at reviewing TV-shows. Love Madam Secretary. Wondering if it'll be ever aired on Dutch TV? Can't wait for the season finale. Looks like Bess is having a bad time and Russel is an ass for not protecting her. Greetings from a fellow Dutchie!

  3. There are plenty of scenes between Elizabeth and Henry. There is a great one in the flashbacks. I think it might also surprise you how Henry is involved in the events in the present.

  4. Ha, thanks! I have no idea if it will ever air on Dutch TV, but I guess it's possible. There have been a lot of freshman dramas this season that have already aired in the Netherlands (Scorpion, Stalker, NCIS: New Orleans, The Mysteries of Laura, How To Get Away With Murder, Jane the Virgin ) so Madam Secretary may be seen on the Dutch TV as well.

I too really enjoy the show and the season finale is a great one! Bess is certainly having a hard time throughout this episode.
