  1. Each promo gets better and better

Right now i hope CW can renew both, iZombie and The Messengers and rather order only 3 pilots (CDS,Cordon,Flash/Aroow spinoff)

  2. Soo excited for this show, hope it has a fighting chance

  3. Wow this promo and the last one have looked amazing!

  4. Please let this do the impossible and shatter The CW's Friday ratings.... PLEASE UNIVERSE. I am already in love with this show. I'm gonna love it more than iZombie, I am 99.999999% sure. I have a feeling this is gonna be my biggest heartbreak of the season. (And if Sleepy Hollow and Constantine are both canceled I might be dead by the end of upfronts week.)

  5. FINALLY! they put it on the internet, it was awesome when they put it during Friday's Hart of Dixie

really good promo.. i love it

  7. Wasn't a fan of the background music, but it still looks like an intriguing show.

  8. The thing I hate most about The CW is that they use a lot of songs instead of original music in their shows.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Really interesting, cannot wait to see this one!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm hoping iZombie and this get a fair chance at a renewal too... I mean if Reign and B&tB got renewed....

And I really don't know what to think of the pilots for next season.

I think the most likely candidates are CDS and the DC spinoff.

As for Gordon, what it does have going for it from a business perspective is Julie Plec and her connection to the CW and from a creative perspective David Nutter who is directing. How it will turn out though is quite up in the air

  11. I noticed they let The 100 use mostly original music in s2, compared with s1... Yet randomly there will be a song that just seems out of place. Maybe they have some kind of agreement on a certain number of pop songs per year, ha. (Although, I did LOVE the song a couple weeks ago, Couldn't Stop Caring, it actually FIT the show.)

  12. I'm thinking CDS, Cordon, and Tales from the Darkside are all very likely to be picked up, maybe a couple for midseason. I think that'd be best... I just can't handle the idea of iZombie or this not being around next year.

I really hope it does well but...

    ReplyDelete
  14. I could see Tales from the Darkside being pushed for a summer release, maybe...

I'm still not sure about Gordon. I have more faith in the DC show getting picked up...

And for some reason I have a good feeling about CDS...

I dunno all four of the CW pilots seem like viable candidates that would fit in the schedule.
The fact that they've basically renewed everything besides HoD makes it very hard to guess what's going at the CW right now.

  16. Yh original music fits The 100 a lot better, Jason tweeted that they got someone to do a cover of a song especially for the finale, I hope it fits well because it really takes away from scenes for me when they use songs unless they only use an instrumental part.

    ReplyDelete
  17. You're probably right... statistically at least one of the new shows has gotta give... And my money is on this one...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Lol as much as I hate to say it, it does look like it. I'd much rather iZombie got the axe instead since I think that show looks horrible. Part of me is hoping I won't enjoy it so it's cancellation won't bother me while the other part is hoping I will enjoy it and it will surprise us all in ratings and be renewed!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Lol, that's interesting because I'd put SPN towards the top of the offenders list!

  20. I'm puzzled; The CW has launched a lot of trailers for The Messengers as if they expect it to do well, and yet they gave it the Friday timeslot and the late launch, so I really don't get it. Do they really want this thing to succeed or not? Are they honestly trying to get traction on Friday? And if so, why didn't they premiered this as soon as HoD wrapped up its current season?
    Really confusing

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm still going with my theory that they want it to succeed and pair with The 100 on Fridays next season, with both having 16-18 episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm hoping this does well, even though it's unlikely.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah but as Eric mentioned they weaved the music into the DNA of the show. And they do have an original score that they do (or at least used to) use quite often.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'd love if that happened, I think it would be a power combo, but if so why didn't they launched it three weeks from now when HoD wraps? Why wait the extra time to mid April?

    ReplyDelete
  25. That would be an interesting programming strategy.

As I said in one of my other posts here, with all the renewals the CW has picked up, and with 4 new shows in their roster that do fit very well with the network's brand it's hard to say what the CW heads are thinking in terms of programming for next year...

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm sure they want all their new shows to do well hence that reflected with the marketing push they're giving with The Messengers.

In a way, apart from reality shows, they never had a scripted show premiering on a Friday so this could either go the way of Grimm and Ghost Whisperer or CBS' Made in Jersey.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yh I like that they made it part of the show, it was pretty clever actually but I still prefer original music. And even TVD & TO have an OST that they use quite often as well but they still use songs more than any other CW show, or they used to, I'm assuming they still do.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I read somewhere it was pushed because there's sports on, I dunno how big it is but it seems like a reasonable excuse since CW is pre-empted a lot for sports.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Very good examples as to how it could go. I honestly think chances are against it since historically the timeslot is awful for the network, but I never EVER expected Grimm to do a 2.1 against the World Series, so everything is possible, and genre seems to work on Fridays, after all SPN worked there, and even Fringe started high there in its first batch of Fridays episodes

    ReplyDelete
  30. All shows need an original score. It can get too expensive otherwise.

As far as I can recall TVD and TO don't use their scores often. They bank on their "alternative anemic pop" quite a bit.

SPN I know used to use its score right and often. I haven't caught up with the show for 2 seasons now, so I wouldn't know what their approach is these days...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Crossing fingers!

    ReplyDelete
  32. That would be a good excuse; still, I'd pre-empt SPN for a week and premiere The Messengers out of Arrow to give it exposure - especially since Empire would have wrapped out by then -, but maybe it would have been to much moving around.

I hope it works out, the show seems to have promise and I'd love if it worked out great on Fridays and that The 1OO could benefit from it too

    ReplyDelete
  33. But not as much as OTH used to do and they were notoriously annoying at it.

But most of the time, TO, Reign and TVD utilize more indie stuff than the pricier Top 40 tracks.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Shows with die hard fanbases are the only things that can do well on a Friday, that's fact.

And genre shows more often than not fall into that category. They attract the type of people who will watch and follow their show no matter where, no matter what...

    ReplyDelete
  35. I remember watching an episode of OTH and finding out that the music was louder than the dialogue! Boy was that annoying and made me glad I never really watched that show!

    ReplyDelete
  36. That sounds like a good idea actually since people would also be more likely to try out the 2nd episode if aired just 2 days later (I stuck with Ascension only because each part aired one day after the other). I guess they just decided against moving it around.

I was pessimistic about the show for a while until these last 2 promos which look really good. The fact they started heavy promotion this early instead of their usual week before is a good sign The CW may be hoping it does well.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Then explain how the hell Grimm was a hit out of the gate. It didn't have a fanbase right after it premiered, and it went against the freaking World Series which did a 7.1!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I never watched OTH and I don't watch Reign anymore but the music they used surprisingly fit in quite well. I don't know if that's still the case though.

    ReplyDelete
  39. And we wonder why Mark Schwann got rid of the opening credits when he spent much of the show's budget on music.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Music in Reign comes in the right moments and is befitting in whatever the mood of a scene is when deemed fit to insert one.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I might remember wrong, but didn't it have a very good lead in like the Voice?
(don't quote me on that... I don't watch Grimm or the Voice... I just have a vague recollection of something like that...)

    ReplyDelete
  42. It had Chuck as lead in, which did a 1.0

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks for the info!

Well the maybe it's one of those freak rare exceptions...

I've had a feeling that's the general case with this show. I remember people not thinking too much of it because it was coming out the same year as OUaT... then was delayed in premiering...

It just hit a cord with audiences I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It seems that they do prefer iZombie a little bit, but I'm very sure they have some hopes that The Messengers will perform well on Fridays. Maybe if they keep releasing these awesome trailers it will get a good sampling and awesome DVR numbers.

    ReplyDelete
  45. No problem :)
It was a real shock, I thought it was DOA, I would have never thought it get to syndication.

Anyway, Ghost Whisperers did work on Fridays. Dollhouse premiered strong too, so inital sample is possible. And let's not forget Fridays biggest hit - aside from Shark Tank-, The X Files, which started there and then moved to Sundays.

That being said, I think chances for The Messengers are not that good. I'd give it a 25-30% chance of success due to the promotional push the network has given it, but still there's plenty going on against it; it premieres incredibly late, at the worst day and timeslot on the network, and I think it'll have repeats as a lead in. All of those are pretty crappy conditions, but you never now, this may as well be the next Grimm

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think bringing X-Files into it is a bit unfair... it was different time when X-Files was on the air... ;P

My general point was this: Fridays nowdays tend to be reserved for shows with loyal followings.... or shows that TPTB don't care about very much... We'll see in which category this puppy falls into soon I guess...

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm also not sure what CW wants for this show. Maybe thye want to prep it for summer next year. No clue.
But the surprisimg amount of promos is really something. I've just hoped it would get anpost DC show premiere timeslot just to give it a slightly better chance.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Cant wait for it to air! Solid promo just the background misic should be a bit more background.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love this kind of show but its CW Fridays. I hope it does well

    ReplyDelete
  50. If they really want this show to succeed, why don't they schedule it on Wednesdays 8PM right before Supernatural season finale? I think it would have a better chance as a summer show than a friday show, specially premiering so late.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Mark's excuse was that "I Don't Wanna Be" was becoming expensive so he decided to do away with it. Apart from that, he though it best reflects how the characters ultimately were able to "be who they wanna be" when the time-jump occurred thus the angst was no longer as apparent as before.

True but like I said,a lot of shows stopped doing. Credits at that time to get in a minute more of show
